  1. Hello @JulieDI and welcome to the Cruise Critic message boards! Thank you for your new thread on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns a specific port of call and is off topic there. To help you out your new thread has been moved to the Ports of Call - Asia forum where it will be on topic. The majority of your fellow Cruise Critic members that have been there frequent this forum and provide feedback here. Browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. The Cruise Critic website and the message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers and we are glad you have posted! Please feel free to browse the message board categories list for our various forums. Click here Cruise Critic Community. Please read a few threads in the different forums to get a feel for what each forum is about. Make sure you read any pinned threads (aka Stickies) on the top of the first page of threads in most forums. You will find very important instructions or information there. And @mom says is correct about the Roll Call for your cruise. To find your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you on your cruise, you need to post on the specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your line, ship and sail date. Since you did not mention your line, ship or sail date, I cannot refer you to the Roll Call thread for your cruise if one has already been created. Please read What is a Roll Call? Everything you Need to Know and How To: Create A New Roll Call. For more information about our famous Roll Calls, please read the Roll Calls and Our Policy Regarding Facebook and Roll Calls sections in the Guidelines. We also have the following Cruise Critic article from last year you might enjoy: 8 Reasons to Join a Cruise Critic Roll Call The specific Roll Call thread for your cruise is the ONLY place on the Cruise Critic message boards where you and your fellow Roll Call thread members are allowed to post personal ads about sharing private tours, excursions or transportation with each other to save money. There is a "captive audience" there since you are all sailing together! Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that may have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. Also, they may have already posted share requests that may interest you. Roll Calls are for people to get to know one another before their cruise. Therefore, there will be all kinds of discussion! Once you locate the Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship and sail date if one is already created, first read through the whole thread to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you. Then use the dark blue Reply to this topic button to post an introductory post about yourself on the Roll Call thread. When done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If you want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours so all will be aware of what your post concerns. You type your message UNDER the light blue quote box then click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a notification that you have quoted their post. If a Roll Call thread for your specific line, ship & sail date has NOT been created, please feel free to create it! Just follow the directions in How To: Create A New Roll Call. Then sit back and wait for your fellow Cruise Critic members sailing with you to join in with posts. They will appreciate you starting the Roll Call! And don't worry about any responsibilities in starting a Roll Call thread. Roll Calls belong to everyone; there is no designated leader or owner. It does not matter who started the thread. If you ever need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software, go to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. Again, you will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. I sincerely hope this will be helpful to someone new to posting on our message boards. We are glad to have you aboard Cruise Critic! Happy sails, Host Kat

This greatly helps the members browsing through the thread titles and if they know the information, they will reply to you. Also, it is best to limit each inquiry to only one topic such as one cruise line, one ship, one port of call, etc. and of course, on the correct forum. You will get more replies that way. 4. Often due to the fact members may not pay attention to the following portion from How To: Create A New Roll Call: In the Title Box, type the name of your ship, your sail date and year. When you create a new ROLL CALL topic, you MUST include the sail date in the subject line, and here's the suggested format: Example: January 1, 2016 Please note the suggested date format with the month first and spelled out completely will ensure your new Roll Call topic appear in search results. They also may not pay attention to the following from the tool itself: If they use a numeric date format instead of an alpha format & do not spell the month out completely as mentioned above, the tool cannot do its job.
  5. It is a great review and I love the title!

  14. @Al2863 Your two stand-alone threads on basically the same topic have been merged into one thread. Per the Cruise Critic software, all posts now appear in post date/time order on this newly merged thread. If anyone reading this merged thread was not aware there were two threads, please read back through the thread to make sure you have seen ALL of the posts so far. Happy sails to all, Host Kat
  15. You are correct. Or even HINT at names or agencies with cryptic posts! In case someone needs to be reminded, from the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Travel Agent Recommendations Here are some oldie but goody Cruise Critic articles that may be helpful: Cruise Travel Agent vs. Online Booking Finding a Cruise Travel Agent Don’t be bashful about signing up for multiple email lists from various travel agents or agencies. You can designate them to filter into a specific folder to avoid inbox clutter until you need them, or even set up a cruise planning specific email address. And don’t forget to check Cruise Critic's Deals and sign up for those in your inbox as well.

  19. Hello @Ellshu Your two stand-alone threads in a Roll Call forum have been moved to the Need Help Using the Forums? Check Here! forum where they will be on topic and then merged into this one thread. Per the Cruise Critic software, all posts now appear in post date/time order on this newly merged thread. Folks often forget about this forum when they need technical help in regard to using the Cruise Critic message board software. You will see a large amount of "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of the forum's first page. Also, browse through the threads in the forum looking for threads of interest. Again, you will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you. Yes, there have been changes to the boards. The Cruise Critic message board software switched from vBulletin to Invision Community in October 2018 and has been tweaked often since then. Also, we moved to new servers in May 2019. Hopefully, @Jean C has helped you with your second question. But please note, no one can start a new topic within an existing Roll Call thread. The OP (Original Poster) that posts the first post in a thread uses the dark blue Start new topic button. Everyone else posting in the thread uses the dark blue Reply to this topic button. Click the following for more information: How To: Start a New Topic How to: Reply to a Topic / Quote / Multi-Quote And this is where using the Quote feature comes in handy! Anytime you are reading a thread and want to address a particular post already in the thread, be sure to use the Quote feature on that post as I did yours. That way all reading the thread will be aware of what your post concerns. You then type your reply UNDER the light blue box showing the quote. When you are done with your message, click the dark blue Submit Reply button. If the member has used the Follow feature on the thread, they will get a Notification that you have quoted their post. And now speaking of Notifications, I suggest you use the Follow feature on any new threads you start or any other threads or forums where you are interested in the new replies. That way you will not have to go looking to see if there are new posts because they will come looking for you as notifications! If you need information on how to do it, please click here: How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info) Personally, I no longer use email for Cruise Critic notifications. I have all mine set to Notification List. I just click the Notifications Bell to the left of my user name over the small Search bubble. Then scroll down the pop-up that appears and click View all notifications. A new screen opens listing all my Notifications. I then click each one that takes me directly to the thread & post. That way I am not drowning in emails! If you want to set yours that way, click your user name located upper right over the small Search bubble in the blue bar. Next, click Account Settings. Under Other Settings, click Notification Settings. Click the down arrows and set each as Notification List Only. To "tag" a member as I did you and Jean, you type the @ symbol first and then first few letters of the user name. A small list of user names & avatars will pop up. Click the desired user name and avatar. A dark blue bubble will appear containing their user name and the identified member should be notified, e.g. @Ellshu Hope this information will be helpful! 22. Hello @nynewfies Thank you for your new topic on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns cruising with a collapsible wheelchair and really should be on another forum for replies from other cruisers using collapsible wheelchairs. To help you out, your new thread has been moved to the Disabled Cruise Travel forum where it will be on topic. It is where your fellow Cruise Critic members with physical limitations share their advice & experiences. Hopefully, those that have used collapsible wheelchairs will reply.
