  1. We have done inside, promenade, Boardwalk balcony, hump balcony, aft balcony, Oceanview and junior suite. Depends on price really. We are trying some "new to us" cabins coming up, a panoramic Oceanview on Liberty and a Central Park view on Oasis. We are now cruising three to four times per year, so it's all about what fits in the budget. And if the price is right, I will try a Royal up bid. Would rather cruise more times than in a more expensive cabin.
  2. We get the soda plus voom every cruise. Yes with being D+ we get our free drinks but we like the freestyle machine for beverages other than soda. We each get it and I try to purchase it on Black Friday sale. We both like to play games, keep up with email etc. I now do have to check in with work occasionally, so internet is a must for us. We just plan it in our budget.
  3. Same happened with our DD. She was diamond by virtue of being our kid, but they reverted her back to Emerald when she hit 18. She has since made Diamond on her own, and we are D+. Honestly I think that they should have to earn their own.
  4. We just did this on Anthem in Feb. Went to Magic Kingdom. Got on one ride, saw one show, walked the whole park and shopped. Ate dinner at Columbia Harbor House. Had Dole whip from Aloha Isle. Went on Monorail to Contemporary, shopped there, then back to TTC and walked over to Polynesian to look around. We left PC at 12:45, were at Disney before 2pm. Our return however, was far more eventful as there was an accident on the highway and we sat in traffic for quite some time. We did however, see the SpaceX launch from the bus, driving right past it as it went off. We were the last to return to the ship. Most of the port was shut down, limited staff hurrying us through. By the time we got back to our cabin they were hauling in the gangway and we were shoving off! Was it worth it? For us, we wanted to see MK for its 50th anniversary, and we have been there many times so the rides are not that important to us. So I can't say it was, but I can't say it wasn't either. The reason why we did not do Disney Springs was transportation. There is no direct transport from TTC to DS, so you have to go to a resort or park to take a Disney bus to Disney Springs. DH was concerned about travel time, so that also factored into why we chose MK.
  5. Thank you George! That helps my gambling budget!
  6. They seemed to be putting MTD in with traditional seating on our Feb cruise on Anthem. We were in Silk, early seating and watched them seat MTD folks amidst traditional diners. Doesn't matter where we sit, foods all the same.
  7. We booked on 2/19. Placed bid on 2/21. Cruise leaves on 4/22, so we were well beyond 21 or even 30 days. I like that Celebrity let's you do it on the website, with Royal it's really only if you get the email. We are still pending, fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks for the replies. Guess we will see what's what when we get there. May need to adjust my budget a bit!
  9. Hi, we are going on our first celebrity cruise next month on Summit. Just curious as to what minimum bets are at the tables, specifically roulette. We have only cruised Royal, so are used to $5 minimum. Thanks!
  10. We have a check in window between 11:30-12. Are rooms really open then? We are used to Royal where rooms are not available until at least 1pm. Thanks!
  11. Nap. Any time I possibly can. Balcony, lounge chair in Solarium, bed. No matter. Nothing a good snoozle can't fix.
  12. Just looked at it, sale is for 3/8-3/9. Nothing that would have worked for us, we got a good deal on a Celebrity sailing, so we are going to try that for the first time. So far I am not entirely sure it is for us, but we will reserve judgment until we go.
  13. I am also diabetic, very rarely eat pasta. Too many other good things at Giovanni's to try! I believe they do make the pasta there, so they may have a substitute. Good luck and enjoy!
  14. Bucket hats or boonies are the best, that is all that we wear. Mesh panels help with breathability.
  15. We are staying in 1852 last week of May. They are the same. I scoured YouTube for videos of the cabin on Liberty, Indy or freedom. Booked it for the window really.
  16. We were on the 2/6 sailing. Wifi was quick and signal was strong. Had absolutely no issues using it anywhere we were- balcony cabin on deck 13, Solarium, Royal Esplanade. I did see folks at the VOOM desk, but personally we had no issues. We switched between phones and tablets with no trouble. I don't know about the hotspot, we always get one device each.
  17. We are D+ trying out Celebrity for the first time in April. The no happy hour the first night baffles me, but ok their sandbox, their rules. We are hopeful that it's a good cruise, but it's likely that we will just stick with Royal after that.
  18. We got off Anthem in Cape Liberty 2 weeks ago, self assist departure. Were in the car driving out of the parking garage at 7:30. EWR not that far away, you should be fine. And the facial recognition has nothing to do with the ship, it's the port and Customs and Immigration, that's the government, not Celebrity. International may take a little longer, but if you get off that early, there usually isn't much of a line. Good luck and enjoy your trip!
  19. Ok so I am new to Celebrity, but we are Diamond plus on Royal. Taking our first celebrity cruise in April on Summit. I can deal with the 5-7 HH but I don't get the reasoning behind not doing it on the first night. Can anyone explain that to me? And this Elite breakfast at Tuscan Grille, that is every day, not just sea days? And where does one get specialty coffee in the morning? I will pay for it, doesn't have to be free, just need to know where to go for my morning cafe mocha. We are trying to branch out after almost 30 cruises on Royal, not making any judgements until we have experienced it, just trying to wrap my head around the differences. Thanks for the help/ advice.
  20. Is the Jan 18/19 still the most recent one? Was hoping for some more offerings in April.
  21. We have done Anthem a bunch of times, as we go every winter. We know the itinerary is exactly the same ( well we got Miami last week, meh) but we go just to get away from the cold ( not so much last week, -13 when we left home to drive to Bayonne). We love the enclosed Solarium, like seeing crew repeatedly, and we know our way around pretty well. Is it nice to get different ships at a port close to you? Yes. But if Anthem is what I get, I will take it. If Odyssey comes, that will be awesome, as that is probably my favorite.
  22. We booked balconies on deck 6 on Ovation for Alaska next year. The obstruction is really in looking straight down, as the lifeboats are in the way. But they are less expensive and I like the layout of the cabins ( we booked 6658 and 6258). One on each side so we always have a balcony to look out from, no matter where the action is!
  23. If I book Chops lunch in the cruise planner for the first day, can they just refund me the money since I have UDP?
  24. LA on Anthem this week told me I could change my gift preferences online. When I asked how, as I have not been able to in forever, she said she would have to log into hers to show me. There was a line, so I declined, not wanting to hold everyone else up. So if anyone here has that secret, please let me know. I can't find it to save my life.
  25. My question is, did OP explain to them that he was doing B2B and (this is the critical part) ask NICELY what his options were? Now knowing that each rep on the phone works differently, I can't imagine that if one said " ok, RC has cancelled my 7 night, but I have a 4 night also, how can we make this work? That some resolution could have been reached. And we all know that you ask to escalate or call back and get another rep. But no instead of advocating for oneself, we come to CC to complain that RC is cheap. Their sandbox, their rules.
