Crazy 9 day Hawaii Cruise Deal
Another_Critic replied to MrCruze's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Good deal, but I'll be heading east across the Atlantic when that cruise embarks. -
Grandeur or Rhapsody?

My first Voyager class cruise was on Adventure - 10 night one way Cape Liberty to Quebec - Sept. 2019. I really liked the ship. -
Grandeur or Rhapsody?
Another_Critic replied to la_croisiere_s'amuse's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I don't remember the exact layout of each, but I do remember that my daughter commented that she liked the WJ layout better on Rhapsody (vs Grandeur) and I thought the same when I sailed Vision. Obviously, YMMV. It's also possible that Vision layout has changed since I sailed her in Aug/Sept 2017. I am 7 on GR (62 nights) and 1 on VI (16 nights). 1 on EN (8 nights) and I preferred GR over EN. -
Royal-Upped to a GS and We are Forever DoomedâĻ.
Another_Critic replied to teddie's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I flew first class in 1987 to MIA (Eastern Airlines narrow body). Bigger seats and more legwork. But at that time economy actually had legroom. I flew first class from DFW to HNL and HNL to DEN in 1991 (DC-10 [wide body] plane). Bigger seats (before lie flat existed?) and acres of leg room. I was actually impressed. đ I actually flew economy from LAX to MNL (747 plane) in 2005(??). It was actually comfortable. Not looking forward to my flight home from BCN in economy (787 plane) in May. -
Is booking a guarantee balcony a good idea?
Another_Critic replied to thefog's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The same applies to a Royal Up bid. -

Had a free upgrade from 2 OV cabins (deck 2) to a 2BR GS (deck 7) on Vision for a 16 night Arctic Crossing. I was not impressed. Of course, Oasis, Quantum, and Icon class suite benefits are superior to Vision, Radiance, Voyager, and Freedom classes. I got an upgrade to a Jaguar F-Pace rental car in England. Was not impressed. I guess I'm not easily impressed. đ -

Is the NextCruise reduction being applied to all TAs or just ones identified as Repositioning?

I'm wondering what is going to happen on the cool days when Odyssey moves to Cape Liberty ... Odyssey does not have an indoor family pool. I guess I will find out in November, when I sail the TA from Rome to Cape Liberty. I have severe to profound hearing loss and the music is usually so loud that I can hear it at a comfortable level with my hearing aids turned OFF. đą

Correction: Crown lounge (aka Diamond Club). Concierge lounge is for suites. -

I've booked balcony guarantees many times. I've always been satisfied with the assigned cabin. YMMV. -

Grandeur or Rhapsody?
Another_Critic replied to la_croisiere_s'amuse's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've sailed Grandeur 7 times (7,10,7,10,12,8,8 nights) from 2013 to 2020 and Vision (Rhapsody's twin sister) 1 time (16 nights) in 2017. Grandeur was inside or ocean view. Vision was 2BR GS. The only real difference that I noticed was the Vision windjammer had a better layout. Same size, but better organization. My daughter sailed on Grandeur 4 times from 2013 to 2020 and Rhapsody 1 time in 2017. Her only comment was regarding the windjammer. Neither of us visited specialty restaurants. -
I'm an Anthem rookie ... only sailed her 8 times (Westbound TA, Bermuda, CA/NE, Bahamas, Eastern Caribbean, Eastbound TA, Eastbound TA, Westbound TA). ETA: Also sailed Quantum on the maiden voyage (TA from Southampton to Cape Liberty). For my Liberty sailing last September, I took Amtrak from Wilmington, DE to Newark Penn Station. ~$90 for RT train and RT Lyft to/from port versus ~$50 tolls, $270 parking, and $$ gas. Would not hesitate to do it again.

Anthem Now Diverting to Port Canaveral
Another_Critic replied to teddie's topic in Royal Caribbean International
No, it's unfortunate that it seems like every time we dock in PC there are a couple of ambulances waiting for us. On one cruise we diverted to PC for a med evac, then on our scheduled port day in PC, we had more med evacs. I guess you could say it's fortunate that they are able to evacuate in the US vs a foreign country. -

Were they picking up their takeout order? đ -
I have two 14 nighters this year SOLO ... the OBC is all MINE, no cabinmate to share with. đ With NextCruise OBC, shareholder OBC, Group rate OBC, and Travel Agent OBC, I think it was just a few dollars more to book SOLO vs double occupancy. đ Plus the extra C&A point for SOLO.

And unfortunately, a haven for med evacs. âšī¸
