Very close to the HAL embarkation at Wilhelminakade is Hotel New York in the former HeadOffice of Holland Amerika Lijn. Nearby, with free shuttle service to the embarkation hall is s.s. Rotterdam (number 5 in the row of HAL Rotterdam ships). Hotel New York is a few minutes walk to the embarkation accross the street and a few minutes more to the Metro. The metro offers very short trips to the center of Rotterdam and for example to the railway station (Centraal Station). By rail you can travel easily to visit for example Delft, The Hague, Leiden, Haarlem, Amsterdam etc. If however you would like to visit the windmills at Kinderdijk: just accross the bridge (seen from embarkation location) you could go there by Waterbus. If however you prefer staying in another town, you could consider Haarlem (very nice town and donot forget to visit Frans Hals Museum) or The Hague (maybe Hotel des Indes?).

Dear Dutch Travelgirl, You have a special meaning to suggest a hotel in central Rotterdam?, because OP told us they will travel to Delft. You know for sure that to see the festivities in Emmen is hardly a possibility, because by train it takes more than 3 hours from the cruise terminal in Rotterdam to the railway station in Emmen. IMO the only possibility to see the whole of those festivities in Emmen is the TV in any nice hotelroom. Kind regards!

IMO 4 and 5 star Mariners paid nice amounts for those stars.....

and April 2023 (in April 2023 $ 16 on our statements). And as VMax1700 suggested to do: we paid since this spring in € and received on our HAL cruises a credit of $16 per day on your statements. And HAL gave a far better exchange rate than the banks would have done on the day of disembarkation.

Normally not. Closer to the date you could check that at www.ns.nl choose your language, the towns of departure and arrival, railway stations and time of departure (or the time you wish to arrive!). Whether they expect train(s) to be crowded or not is indicated. (In NL all stations have to be equipped with an elevator/elevators. )

Hotel New York in the former headoffice of HAL; right across the cruise terminal. And quite a few nice hotels in the center. If you choose a hotel near the Centraal Station you can easily travel by rail to The Hague, Delft, Gouda, etc. And a short ride in a watertaxi across the river brings you to the waterbus that could bring you to Dordrecht etc or for example to the windmills of Kinderdijk.

If I read your message correct you did not clean the cache of your phone before reinstalling Navigator.

If you board an intercity train f.e. at 08:54 AM in Delft, you will arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station at 09:55. It is a 15 minutes walk to the Cruise terminal and I believe (experience with Holland America Line only) you will be able by that time to drop your luggage. If you have time to visit Amsterdam is depending upon departure and embarkation time. Amsterdam Center is at a walkable distance and tramway is quite near the cruise terminal.

I tried finding the exact answer, but couldnot. I think you should ask Delta if your flight is a Delta flight with Delta plane. If your flight is executed bij a KLM plane with a Delta flightnumber is must be possible to use the Drop Off. And it works perfect. Check in from home of hotel, bagage drop off and off you go to security. I suggest you to download the Schiphol App; it leads you through Schiphol, warns you for changing departures etc.

Daughter made an appointment in april, but crossed security an hour earlier than reserved/expected. We (same date other airline) did not reserve; arrived about 1,5 earlier than advised at Schiphol and could have booked easlily a flight 2 hours earlier. But now it is summer and full holiday season, so what whould we advise? Maybe to download the Schiphol app which advises you about the expected crowds? The app advises about "how it works" too and answers many questions. IMO: quite helpful. Enjoy the last days of your cruise and your voyage back home.

on ms Zuiderdam they had a pop up Cellar Master dinner and Librije. The Librije is (for quite a few years) a 3 star Michelin restaurant in he Netherlands. (3 stars is the max.) And one of the Worlds 50 top restaurants. And the decomposed apple pie consits of far more than 4 pieces and "nothing" of those parts is what it looks like. Good taste and funny.
