  1. On one cruise we were on La Havre was missed due to a strike. The ship went to an alternate port in The Netherlands. Those who had arranged to depart in La Gavre were offered the option of staying on the ship or disembarking in The Netherlands and being on their own for getting to wherever they wanted to go to.
  2. And that is why many people regularly check the Personalize to be sure there were no unexpected changes. Just like many people check flight reservations to make sure there were no unexpected changes there.
  3. Princess now has an option to leave your phone number and they will call you back when it is your turn in the queue. You may still wait a long time for the callback, but at least you will not be on hold. Calling first thing in the morning may get a quicker call back.
  4. All booked cruises must have a deposit when the booking is made. Call Princess and ask when and how the deposit was made. o If by credit card, they should be able to let you know which credit card o If by Future Cruise Deposit/Future Cruise Certificate, there would be a name associated with that. o If by Future Cruise Credits, there would be a name associated with that.
  5. Changing your cabin to another in the same category is not an upgrade, so Princess did follow your desire to not be upgraded. But the real problem is that your cabin was changed and you did not know that happened and you are rightfully upset. When Princess makes a cabin change, they normally do send a notice to the passenger or, if the booking was with a travel agent, to the TA who is supposed to pass it on to the passenger. So, if Princess did send a notice, some of the possibilities: a) If sent to the passenger, may have ended up in spam somewhere. b) If sent to the TA, the TA may not have passed the information on to the passenger. c) If sent to a TA, the message from the TA may have ended up in spam somewhere. If your booking had been with a TA, you should ask the TA why you were not notified of the change.
  6. There will be two formal evenings on a 10 day cruise. One of the two might be called "dress to impress."
  7. If you call Princess, they can tell you how many kids are booked so far in that age group. Of course the number may change as more bookings are made.
  8. CCL Corp ships do not use New Jersey, but do use Manhattan.
  9. You can purchase the Internet midway in the cruise, but it might be at the higher daily rate and not the lower rate if you bought it for the entire cruise.
  10. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal at Red Hook is used by Princess as the embarkation terminal for New York City. Per the New York Times, this Terminal now has a new current use: Jan. 21, 2023 With New York City at “its breaking point,” Mayor Eric Adams announced on Saturday that the city would open a new emergency shelter at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal to help accommodate the influx of migrants. The relief center will serve some 1,000 single, adult men, Mr. Adams said, a similar capacity to a tent facility that the city had placed on Randalls Island until it shut down last fall after operating for just a month. The new center will also have a short shelf life: Mr. Adams said it will close ahead of cruise season this spring. “With more than 41,000 asylum seekers arriving in New York City since last spring and nearly 28,000 asylum seekers currently in our care, our city is at its breaking point,” the mayor told reporters on Saturday. He added: “We continue to surpass both our moral and legal obligations and meet the needs of people arriving in New York, but as the number of asylum seekers continues to grow, we are in serious need of support from both our state and federal governments.”
  11. It was good on the Ruby recently.
  12. Only a few of the ships even have milkshakes available.
  13. And often the drink of the day was not at a discounted price. Advertising it was just a gimmick.
  14. Being able to bid does not mean there is any availability at the time you bid. The bid is being allowed in case the category does become available because of a cancellation.
  15. If location is not important to you, book the lower price GTY. You could end up on deck 15 in the category there or in a higher deluxe balcony category on another deck. There is also the slight possibility that you could end up in an even higher category such as a mini-suite.

  17. Cruise Vacation Planner -- person at Princess who can usually better book a cruise than the random rep you get if you just call 1-800-Princess and speak with the first person who answers Dine My Way - The Princess term for making or not making dinner reservations
  18. It you book with the Plus package, then you both will have and must keep the Plus package. No trading down to a lesser beverage package with a reduction in booking cost. The time to book at the $50 rate ended in December. No matter when you book now, it will be $60/day/person. Nobody knows as they do not exist yet. I understand you get them at the International Cafe, not in the dining room. The 3rd person does not have to have the same booking package as the first two. You may need to speak with Princess to arrange this if you are booking directly with Princess. If using a TA, the TA should be able to get it done for you.
  19. The benefit was changed from xx free minutes to 50% off the current price. This is true even though the free minutes were valued at more than the current price is. Basically, Princess changed a free benefit to one that will cost you money.
  20. Princess started the Plus package at $40/day/person. Then Princess raised it to $50. Then Princess raided it to $60 a few months later. It will keep going up until people refuse to pay the higher price and Princess decides they would make more $$$ with lower pricing.
  21. You would book the voyage without either the Plus or Premier package. Then you would go online to the Princess web site, sign in to the Personalizer and order the beverage package you would want for each person you want it for. It probably could also be done on a smart phone with the Princess app, but I have never gone that path.
  22. I do not know the color answer, but since it charged me the correct price, I assume it was all knowing.
  23. It certainly made more sense for the passenger when the Plus package cost $40/day/person than now when it cost 50% more. They will continue to offer it. Princess still makes $$$ on selling the package. With the Plus and Premier packages, Princess said 75% of passengers will get one of the packages (at least this was before the December price increase). That is a lot more income than they had pre-Plus/Premier from those paying the price of a beverage package alone. (Remember, Princess pays no state or Federal taxes when purchasing alcohol beverages, but maintains in many cases shore-side pricing.) Carnival Corp has been reporting significantly higher onboard spending. These packages are for accounting purposes onboard spending.
  24. That is way I said "supposed." It did charge me half price in early December.
