  1. There was an episode of The Simpsons television show which showed the family on a cruise. After the mid-point the Cruise Director sang a song about being at the mid-point of the cruise. "Enjoy It While You Can" is a song sung by cruise entertainment director Rowan Priddis at the halfway point of the cruise. He was backed by Gary Ocean and the Motion. Enjoy it while you can, Ice sculptures, conga lines and working on your tan. Enjoy it while you're here, One week of glitz and glam instead of pain and fear. In just a few days' time this boat pulls into dock, And when it does you lovely people may be in for a shock. Here you've made exciting friends, back home you'll all lose touch. Here Hawaiian shirts are cool, back home, well not so much. Back home you'll be too tired for making magic in the sack. So eat buffet, and play and pray there's some delay on our way back. Enjoy it while you can, Here at sea we drink and frolic, back home that's called alcoholic, Your futures are but parabolic Enjoy it while you can!
  2. The Medallion does not have any cabin number on/in it. It has a reference number that the ship's computer looks at and then the ship's computer has all the info about you including the cabin number. So hopefully the ship's computer will have the correct cabin number in it.
  3. Is the port that you want to take the wine off the ship the final port of a segment or is it just one of the port stops on the itinerary? If it is the final port on a segment and you are scheduled to leave the ship there, then (if Princess did have the wine for safekeeping) it would be returned to you the evening before the cruise ends. If this is just a port stop on the itinerary and Princess did have the wine, they would not be giving it back to you mid-cruise.
  4. To me Die Coke tastes essentially like Coke Zero. My taste buds are not that sensitive to the tastes being different. However, no fountain soda includes a sugar-free/caffeine-free choice
  5. Yes, basically it is the same on all ships. However the live news channels may be different in some parts of the world.
  6. Historically, that has been the content of most Princess production shows.
  7. Yes, Princess does consider mid-ship to be a better location than fore or aft. And, yes, Princess considers the higher the cabin is, the better the location is. Some passengers agree with Princess about this and some do not.
  8. Since the ships do not bend, back and forth rocking should be the same anywhere on a deck. It will be more severe the higher up you go.
  9. In most cases I would not expect bids to be successful until close to sail date. Why would Princess accept a bid early when there is the possibility of a more acceptable bid coming in? So, how many cruises that bids have been available to make are very close to to sail date (or have sailed already)?
  10. When an excursion is cancelled while on board, the refund shows up as OBC on the on board account. At the end of the cruise if there is a positive balance on the account and it is more than $25, a few weeks after the cruise a check will be mailed with that balance. ($25 or less can be refunded on board before youy leave the ship.) Note that will be a check, not a refund to a credit card.
  11. Also said that he is fully paid up for a cabin on this cruise and this cabin was going to be for a relative. Maybe, just ,maybe, the fabulous software involved in the bidding sees the person has already paid in full for a cabin and sends out the offer not realizing the offer is for a different cabin than the fully paid one.
  12. There are really two types of large groups: First is the group that Princess allows to reserve parts of the ship just for themselves for various periods of time. This could be the aft pool area, the Princess Theater, a dining room, or any other venue. These are the types of groups that to me are the most disruptive as they limit my access to areas of the ship at times I would like to use them. Second is a group of people with similar interests, but who do their own thing individually all day/evening. Sure, a large number of the group may gravitate to the same place such as the aft pool area, but it is not reserved for them. You may or may not decide to go there because of the crowd, but you do not have access denied. Even without a specific group on board, the area you want to be in may be overcrowded just because many people want to be there at the same time.
  13. Then you had better never have a cell phone turned on when you are onm land.
  14. Pre-pandemic Princess would make (and sell to passengers) a DVD of the cruise which included many passengers shown during normal ship activities from the Champagne waterfall event to shore excursions to dancing to many other activities. From the Passage Contract every passenger has agreed to before boarding the ship (even if agreed to without reading it first): "You grant Carrier and its licensees the right to use Your photograph/voice/indicia taken during Your Cruise, in any fashion and for any purpose in all media now known or hereafter devised without any limitations whatsoever. Professional photographers photograph Guests, process, display and sell such photos to You and other Guests."
  15. Not sure what opting out will mean in actuality. Does it mean you will not be in the background when they film? If so, how do they know which people in the background opted out and which did not.
  16. "The changes, for arrivals at land, air and sea ports of entry, are planned for Sept. 30, but have yet to be finalized by cabinet, according to four sources." If I remember correctly, the ArriveCan rules had different requirements for arrivals at sea ports and arrival by cruise ship, the former mainly applying to arrivals by ferry. So, any confidence that the changes at the end of September will also apply to arrival by cruise ship?
  17. I thought people with heart pacemakers need to avoid using the Medallion, the alternative being the old cruise card.
  18. Pre=pandemic there was usually a sign at the Customer Services desk that the ship was sailing full (true or not) and no upgrades were available. After the restart when ships were sailing at far less than capacity, people were able to get upgrades after asking, sometimes free and sometimes paid. If they are still allowing embarkation day upgrades due to low passenger count, you may not learn about availability until after you have unpacked in your assigned cabin.
  19. The ship does not change time based on when it actually enters a new time zone. To be sure your phone is on ship time, you need to set it up for you to change it as needed.
  20. Having watched the film, I can say that although Princess was mentioned most (Diamond in Japan, Grand returning to San Francisco, Ruby returning to Sydney), Carnival and Costa were also featured. (Of course all three are CCL Corp. brands) Basically, the film points out that no one knew at the time how to deal with this new virus. Not the cruise lines. Not the CDC. Not government leadership (especially as the movie shows in the USA). The Diamond, for the most part, was following the directives of the Japanese officials. Certainly Princess was not responsible that the crowded buses that kept healthy and ill passengers near each other waiting for hours to leave the dock area nor the crowded airplanes that also had healthy and sick passengers close to each other.
  21. Since this upgrade was a gift from the Upgrade Fairy, my guess is that cruzin4us did not have no upgrade marked on their booking.
  22. If you have pre-purchased the beverage package, there is no extra tax for included beverages consumed in local waters since you are not actually purchasing anything but instead getting something you had purchased before getting on the ship.
  23. Princess uses kettles that should not be a fire hazard. Passengers are not allowed to bring their own kettles because it is likely not all of them would not be a fire hazard. Of course this does not explain why Princess will not put those kettles in the cabins for itineraries that do not originate in the UK.
