    I had NEVER made phone calls at sea until about two years ago when an RCCL employee was helping me set up my Wifi.  She mentioned that I could now make calls!!!  I questioned her and said that I wasn't interested in paying to make phone calls, I only wanted the basic internet package.  She assured me that phone calls were included.  I asked for her name in case I got home and had charges which I did not.  (This was on a Bermuda sailing).  On my next cruises, I verified again that I could make calls with the basic package and was told "yes"!  Again, no charges on my AT&T bill.  Was is WiFi calling????  I have no clue, don't know much about WiFi calling or how you do it.  All I was told was that I could call as normal, which I did (as well as received calls) a number of times daily.

     

    Yes, that was Wi-Fi calling

  2. They don’t have much inventory, as a general rule. And if you would be lucky enough to find the very same item, you would always save money on the ship, because there is no sales tax.  But they probably would not have the most up-to-date items on the ship.

    I agree….Celebrity has caused the apprehension and is doing nothing about it…..

    We no longer consider the AI offers.  We get the drinks, the laundry, the internet minutes and that is basically what we use from our Elite + status.  Celebrity has lessen the value of their Captain's Club program which is a shame and a lesson learned at the same time.

     

    We do like and use the drinks credits, will take advantage of the laundry and maybe use some minutes.  Last cruise did not use any of our Elite + internet minutes.

    I have often wondered why they cannot honor the elite benefit on the first night of the cruise by doing the 5-7 happy hour in the lounges...just a thought...Surely they have the necessary info from the sail pass in their bar computer system by then, as the passenger has been onboard for hours prior...Hope it is not another cost cutting thing.

    Not hardly, since it’s been that way since to the very beginning of the happy hour program.

  6. I want had a bad experience taking a taxi to the airport in Fort Lauderdale. I didn’t have much cash with me and was planning on using my credit card to pay for the cab ride. The cab displayed the symbol for credit cards, but when I got to the airport, the driver said that he couldn’t accept a credit card, and could only take cash.  I can’t remember now if he said that his credit card machine was broken or what was the problem. I had enough for the fair, but he didn’t get a tip as I recall. From then on, I decided to take pre-paid transportation, whenever possible.
