  1. Love Anthem and Ovation and Symphony the best. But was surprised how much I recently enjoyed Vision and that was because of crew and ship layout There is no negative RCI ship IMHO
  2. It’s the child response “no I don’t want to” Nice clean shorts should be fine but wearing the same ones all day and then going to dinner seems a bit way too lazy and also means perhaps no shower either
  3. Holland is good and does glacier bay. just got back from Alaska on Grand Princess and spoke to folks from HAL ships. They were satisfied with HAL very much
  4. yes and those lounges for shows. I mean a medium weight jacket over top of something else with long sleeves. More ships have a/c on for the crew to stay comfortable and the passengers can just add layers. oh well
  5. I was on the Grand Princess for two weeks and got back last week. On the way up to Whittier we had very very rough weather and missed Hubbard Bay. It was one of the roughest nights in my entire cruising career. Of course, I was in the front of the ship up on deck 9 but the banging of the hull and vibrations were horrible. I feel if I had been on a larger ship like say Ovation, it might have been different. Be glad Radiance is staying in port because the upper gulf of Alaska can be very nasty when it wants to be. Oh lucky me I will also miss the NE/Canada weather and I sail to Boston on Wed. I dodged two bullets this summer.
  6. best advice on dress code is the wear long sleeves as they keep the a/c high. I almost froze my butt off on Liberty OTS and in the end had to only go to buffet. Head waiter kept calling me a lot to come back but I told him NOPE.
  7. sorry just go back from a trip, but if free on Prima then that will be interesting at best.
  8. I did for the most part but I will plan on doing more HAL and not Princess. the Grand Princess is the wrong ship for Alaska. They board folks on and off in the middle deck 7 and the entire Piazza area is very cold and crew put coats one. And as mentioned in another reply, their covered indoor pool is a joke as doors to outside are left open. Also, they did not care how wet floors were around any of the pools and I got into a nasty chat with their safety fellow. Now RCI would be drying and mopping the floors but not on this ship. His answer it will dry naturally (yea right no sun and 50 degrees). oh well. off to Boston on Wed 9/20 to pick up the Celebrity Summit for NE where I will just miss the bad weather. Funny now Gulf of Alaska is having bad weather with high waves and delaying that ship Radiance OTS from leaving Seward by a day and will miss one glacier. Grand Princess is nearby and will also miss a port. my goodness the Gods are on my side as I dodge both weathers. toodles and thanks for nice thoughts. I did see bears and eagles.
  9. thanks I have been back a week and wanted to let everyone know if I ever go back to Alaska again, I will make sure to go on HAL. My ship the older Grand Princess was always cold with wet floors around empty pool and the covered area was always cold since they kept door from outside open. I spoke to a lady in port and she told me the Noordam was lovely and pool that was enclosed was not cold either. I took Princess over RCI since they do glacier bay, but so does HAL and I will return to HAL again. thanks for thinking of me. I now leave Sept 20th for Boston to do NE/Canada glad to be missing the hurricane. I will be on Celebrity Summit.
  10. well after reading this post I will definitely change my trip next year from this ship to another even if I have to go to another cruise line. Been trying to get to Greece for many years and things always pop up or go wrong. Sounds to me like this ship is just not meant for me. As for MDR, more and more folks just go to Buffet so that you can see the food and pick out things you like.
  11. When I was on Vision this past April they had a parade of nations in centrum and one of the officers said “We may be older and smaller but we have spirit and heart and loyal crew”. I loved the layout of theatre with very comfortable seats and the nice buffet in front of ship.
  12. NCL has a for pay restaurant that has BBQ with a country band and is good. I like Carnival’s free Guy’s as well but check out the cruise fares for the ships that have Guy’s and they are not very cheap. Carnival fares are very tiered and higher than folks think.
  13. Happy anniversary from across the pond to are a nice couple.
  14. Well logging in with password does not work saying servers down. using booking number is hit or miss. will get to try wrist medallion guessing it is like Disney bands.
  15. I will get to ser a lot of Dam ships when on my cruise Aug 26 -Sept 9 on Grand Princess. Koningsdam in Vancouver on 26th as well as others in various ports. My cruise is two weeks coastal and looking forward to seeing Eurodam, Westerdam, Noordam and Volendam too.
  16. I know that !!! Just pointed out the two ships with most success
  17. Yes I too have had issues with app including even trying to get off App Store. no issues with other cruise lines just Princess. only website works for me not app. I will bring my paper copy of invoice as proof of payment
  18. Give up on the phone app as it is a mess and doesn’t always work bring paper opt of final invoice for proof of payment and room number getting QR code is useless
  19. Nothing works for me whether it is my web logon or my booking number I get server down message or our records do not match. Yet I go to my computer and can log on. also when looking for the app on App Store I never see the button to GET. worse app ever as I have. I issues with Royal or Disney.
  20. Yes and I hope she is for another year as I have booked Greenland out of Boston next summer. BTW, I sailed on Vision and enjoyed her more than I thought I would.
