  1. yes times are a changing. Why for my Princess cruise in a month to Alaska, one could not even select dining option until full payment. Also they do not have boarding passes either. Just show your bill and passport. I wonder why they are all so worried about paper (which can be recycled) and yet all the electronics in the world do not have recyclable batteries. hmmm find that odd. Also I find that everything has become a "figure it out yourself" and less instructions.
  2. And on the Fantasy 7 day that I took in May, no buffet on Pirate night either which was mostly desserts and few munchies. oh well
  3. well. And in spite of negative comments about the city, I found a lot of areas quite safe and fun.
  4. that is a shame. I mean some folks like GOOD MUSIC. Oh well.
  5. I dislike the process of putting down a deposit only to find out that vacation protection must be purchased at that time. HAL gets all worried about non refundable deposits that they want vac protection purchased at the time of deposit. I found out the hard way that a few months later if changing ships, NOT allowed to buy vacation protection. I mean it is an ADD on and should not be prohibited later. Also HAL when making changes to a reservation, actually assigns a new Number and then one can get catch in a trap of newer promos or rules that changes the value of initial reservation. HAL really is overly annoying with their promos and use the word promo to backup any sneaky crappy thing they try to down the road.
  6. it is a little kept secret that most cruiselines do not keep to a schedule. I think all the emails about arriving early is a bit of a joke. Get there early from whatever hotel in case of traffic and know that most of the time you will get on in a timely manner. Enjoy. Most taxi from center of Seattle will take 20-30 minutes.
  7. HI Since you are in UK can your help me with a question? Trains from Heathrow to Southampton, do they need to be reserved or can just pay and get on at the airport same day as flying in. thanks in advance. I have only done one sailing and it was with Celebrity as I did a hotel package.
  8. I think this is so cool. Wonder if they will try to fool the crew and switch places since they look a lot a like even tho not twins.
  9. In order for that to happen we need to see Flowriders, Playmakers, broadway shows. Not sure if Celebrity makes passengers use room card to get towels so add that in as well perhaps. I think some folks on X ships might like Coco Cay because it is a private island and there is the Oasis pool.
  10. All I have to say is that so many changes and complaints since the CEO left for another position in the company. Bring back Lisa.
  11. I sailed her in 2009 and I liked the whole back of the ship layout with pool and ramp up to a bar. Was nice. The new ships have more rooms up the back and sides. The older ships seem to be better for outside viewing areas
  12. I like to book my own, however, for a port like Rome I would book the package so as to get the transfer and not worry about doing it on my own. Places like Barelona and Amsterdam one can book their own hotel and use taxies from the nearby airport.
  13. only the ones with broadway shows need reservations. And then the standby line is fine. Also, comedy clubs fill up but then again the comedian will do a big show in the main theatre. I was on Liberty of the Seas and it was and got very crowded for the Sat Night Fever show. so do GO EARLY like 45 minutes as that ship did not take reservations.
  14. well now on RCI website they are calling them either Alaska Adventure or Alaska Experience and leaving out the word Glacier in the title. My cruise last year did not go into the glacier due to weather. It happens. And that title had the word Glacier as part of the title of the cruise.
  15. certainly won't be for those of us sailing on the Icon with all those water slides. Just get off and walk around and eat, then back to the ship. But I like Oasis pool too.
  16. it is an easy way to see Greenland without expensive flights to Europe. And also to enjoy one of the older ships before they sell her.
  17. aw very nice. And best part is no flights to Europe. I am glad the ship goes to Newfoundland too.
  18. oh nice to hear this. I thought music walk is going away or was it just one thing. I will be on NS next June from Copenhagen doing Norway and Iceland.
  19. Thank you everyone. Princess is just a bit different than other cruise lines. Still looking forward to going the older Grand for two weeks in Alaska.
  20. I am sailing on Grandeur out of Boston to Greenland next year
  21. The world is full of complainers and this board is “ cc”. I think everyone over uses their “freedom of speech”. Besides, complaining on line is easier than face to face. I think the creamer issue is a bit much and easy to handle in person
  22. Wow thanks but wish they would say so more clearly. I mean Princess is very different than say RCI or DCL in that they do not assign check in time or provide a pass. I guess I don’t need the QR code either from app that I heard about? I find Princess also odd that one can’t get dining set up at time of deposit. Oh well
  23. Well, I did check-in and I do not see where or how I have something to actually show when I get to the ship. I will get my medallion at the pier. I am frustrated that Princess is all about the medallion but nothing online that I can see. I am used to other cruise lines that have a better setup. I did print out luggage tags but where do I get my set sail or access to the ship on PAPER.
