  1. Splitting hairs here. Are the itineraries you're looking at identical?
  2. #3. I'm thrilled one of my favorite sandwiches is available on the ship. I could care less about the $7.
  3. One person will say the food is inedible. The next, on the very same cruise, will say it was good.
  4. I'm not quite sure I follow this advice. Cruiser #2's fare isn't getting refunded either way. If they cancel her, they don't add additional fare to Cruiser #1. By buying Cheers onboard, that is definitely an added fee.
  5. Stressing out because they might not deliver your favorite type of orange to your room, or some other crazy specific, unnecessary service or one that must be rolled up into the price vs a nominal fee. I couldn't imagine living life like this. I cruise because there is solid food, entertainment, variety, and amenities, all at a good value. Booking in advance has all but confirmed your price. Prices are extremely unlikely to go down from here. Life changes everyday. Always living a baseline of what used to be a miserable experience. Sure I have my favorite things. If something no longer does it for me, I find a new favorite. The grass isn't greener anywhere right now.
  6. But how many times have you heard of someone losing both their ID and passport? It minimizes the chances of traveling without the most crucial piece of ID. If you do not keep both IDs in the same spot, you further improve your odds. I have read many accounts of people not having a passport for various reasons and also needing it last minute. If there's any chance you may travel internationally, I don't see why you wouldn't have one.
  7. Going a step further, being considerate to the workers is also optional
  8. Some people will mention a few of the more reliable third parties. Please know what you are buying and what you need. Just because you hear of "more things" happening over the past few years, it doesn't mean insurance companies have upped their payouts.
  9. Sorry, but if I get one ask, I 'll fight you for the breakfast filet mignon back. Your request seems reasonable enough. Chia pudding can't be that costly, is it? Perhaps it wasn't popular?
  10. Miami was 40 something degrees during Christmas and it is further south than most debarkation ports. We sailed out of LA last January. The first night and the last night weren't ideal weather. However, once you cruise down south enough, you generally hit decent weather.
  11. If it is so similar, you have solved the problem. The op can book this one!
  12. In my anecdotal example, I used to deal with computer sales and repairs. You would think with the "demo" the customers buying the Macbook would be easier to deal with. Don't get me wrong, customers of all price points could be jerks. There was a demo difference. However, the Macbook customers would often be some of the most difficult. Believing that they paid more for their laptop, they should get special rules and treatment, or you would hear about it. Some of the biggest jerks I've dealt with. That kind of behavior is rarely exclusive to one aspect of their life.
  13. It's not even worth attempting to discuss. We rage over headlines. It's not like the entire industry is doing the same or similar things. Incorrect Sounds about right. This free thing is a no-brainer, but I don't even know what the math is. Free is obviously better. Anywho, I agree some of these are quite high. I will have to rethink if I really need internet at those kinds of prices. I'm also not partaking in the steakhouse at those prices.
  14. We can split hairs all we want about how the companies ask for their money. The retail stores usually just cancel the orders. Then you're free to purchase it at the new rate. Sure a few people might get one by the goalie by rushing in immediately, and taking it home with their truck. Not many do though. There are lots of checks and balances on pricing errors. People also love to take these opportunities to become contract law specialists. Where the definition of contract means "I want what I want" not what the cruise lines actually put in the contract to protect themselves
  15. Having worked at one of those places in the past. I know that when a $2000 TV has an error for $200, everyone orders one, and then tells their friends. The orders get cancelled. Then the business experts come in to say it's a terrible business practice. The runaway best choice is to sell each tv for over $1000 under cost for a clear error.
  16. I must say, for as negative the doom and gloom posts the Carnival forum has seen, the Celebrity one may actually have more at the moment.
  17. Yet there is no snark behind your truly inquisitive questions of "will they leave the keys for the pullman?" Behind a lot of these changes, is people kicking and screaming about huge damages to their experience, health, etc. for trivial things. "What if I hate my dinner and want two more plates? NICKLES AND DIMES! What if I roam my room in the night and crack my head open??" No, I don't know exactly about the pullman scenario. I've used one once, and don't recall the problems. If I was a betting man, I would bet everything in my name that if it is inaccessible to the cruiser, you can make a request, and they will help you out. There is no need to change an entire fleetwide, labor model, for one little flippy boi for the bed.
  18. I don't understand the pullman defense. I see some have tried it, and others are following. It's funny to read other cutbacks as they relate to safety. I read about about how people on other cruise lines will now die of covid and have their dietary restrictions trashed because room service is not free. Back to the pullman defense. We're going to be concussed because we're all walking in a maze in the black of the night, smacking our heads. I hope they open another trauma wing. What was the system before? They ran in at 7 am to roll it up, then again at 8 pm to roll it out? If you want them to put it away in the morning service, I am willing to bet my entire gratuity, they will without issue. God forbid you have to pull it down when you're ready. Cruising is no longer special!
  19. This is reaching. Do we really expect the room service people to be running down the halls with troughs full of food? And room service wasn't keeping a list of return pickups for trays. Compared to waste from having everything effortlessly delivered to your room. That's a tough sell.
  20. Every forum is the same way right now. Royal has slimmed their menu, charged for a once free messenger app, moved to one turndown a day. NCL also moved to one turndown, while greatly increasing gratuities. Celebrity moved all room service to $12. This isn't even scraping the surface. Everyone raging out because cruise lines are in debt and they can't get everything for nothing. Looking for the greener grass. It's honesty annoying. The thing is, the vast majority of cruisers won't even care. Ironically, it is largely be those who demand to be rewarded for their loyalty.
  21. This is a miserable take. My upcoming Celebration cruise has more lunch and dinner options included than ever. I honestly don't know how I'm going to eat everything I want. Yet, the focus is on what is missing. Apparently, a special vacation to you is 5-star dining available 24/7 for pennies on the dollar. Believe-it-or-not, a lot of people would laugh at your painted picture at the lack of food options. $50 out of pocket could cover ordering almost everything you listed there. Instead, you'll advocate for a cruise line that costs twice as much, because it needs to be FREE.
  22. "Wah, not my problem. The company should pay the employees a "living wage" out of some secret money pool."
  23. As we all whine about the "race the bottom," this is a good note. They will literally do anything you want, anytime. If you want extra sets of towels, when they do the original turn down, later in the day, a zoo of towel animals, etc. they will do it. On top of already running through your room completely. We come back from breakfast or lunch and everything is done. I am confused as to how this vacation is no longer special if they don't do it again that same day. Even pre-pandemic, a lot of hotels didn't like doing to daily service.
  24. It always intrigues me that someone will spend $10,000 on a suite, but wonder if the $100 in room service is included.
  25. Stay away from this thread, and any other opinions. Experience it and decide for yourself.
