  1. How exciting to see a post from Silhouette. Thank you for the wonderful post. Your photos really bring back so many memories and I will be following along. Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy Silhouette - we sure did.
  2. I've sailed on many b2b's with the first being the last of the season. Service is always close to the same but often some of the crew end their contract on the last cruise of the season and some new replace them for the repositioning. We did a pre-cruise Alaska Land tour and the Alaska Final Cruise of the season with a B2B with a Transpacific and Japan Cruise. They were all exceptional.
  3. Mine came through in two days. Reality don't worry about them. If not approved you will have to show them at checkin anyways. I think you can just take a screen shot of your appointment time to use to get in - or cal but be prepared for a long wait time.
  4. i think it pretty accurate depending on when you cruise. The one thing that is unclear is if they are still reserving a certain number of cabins for Isolation for either new crew or sick passengers. Recently is seems that they are allowing positive cruisers to isolate in their original rooms but have offered negative spouses a different cabin. Sometimes Celebrity gives TA's blocks of cabins but if unsold they are returned to inventory at about 60 days. On our cruise - I bookmarked the Select a Category Screen page and check regularly, last week one of the cruises had 4 cabins available and they all disappeared by this weekend. On the other one a CS popped up and was gone again within hours.
  5. True - but only if the ship is sailing in U.S. waters. Many if not all the ships in Europe aren't reporting or if the do they report to the EU and while they do have covid protocols for cruise ships I don't believe they report cases on ships.
  6. While I can understand your premise and agree I am more cautious of Covid (even after catching it) . In the 2019-2020 flu season 20,000 died of Flu with about 40% of those being under 65. Also a total of 380,000 were hospitalized. CDC publishes some interesting annual statistics https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/past-seasons.html
  7. We are on the 3 cruises on Summit departing in August and as of this morning all 3 cruises are sold out. What that equates to as number of passengers I have no idea as the first 2 are TA's to Iceland and with it being school vacation in the U.S. could be up there.
  8. My experience has been that about the only currency they have available is Euro's an Pounds Stirling. Rate are not very good. We usually have left over from previous cruises and baggies with change in them from most countries. If I don't have currency I use a Bank ATM and use an ATM that refunds ATM and Transaction fees and take out a small amount. If I need change I stop by a news stand and buy a candy bar. Just back from Europe and touchless ATM cards are used everywhere including parking meters and buses.
  9. The pop up does indeed say 21 days but I've never found it accurate. I've seen it open between 14 days and 75 days. I have 2 cruises of a 3 cruise series for August that opened up at 75 days and I suspect the 3rd will also. On these cruises they have been fully sold out for months. You can try occasionally or stay tuned to your Roll Call. The last 2 cruises for some reason I didn't get a notification (It is hit or miss for me and I'm subscribed to all the marketing material etc).
  10. A couple things to keep in mind. Rules will be different between if you booked during the Cruise With Confidence or after it ended. Also the $100 is per Person not per reservation. Finally I would recommend calling in as I have had an agent waive the penalty and refund the complete amount. I wasn't expecting it but due to other problems the agent did it as a good will gesture.
  11. Just don't hold your breath for the near term. It is exciting news but there a lot of technical, regulatory and infrastructure requirements to be addressed. It could take years before we can enjoy this but at least RCL has taken the first step which the entire cruise industry will benefit from.
  12. I had a similar problem but in my case I could get the LogOn Page but just go to a blank page after sign on. It frustrated me as I could log on using my iPhone and my home computer using remote access. Being a compute nerd I tried everything to no avail. When I got home all of the sudden I had no problem and finally isolated it to the fact that I had disabled set time automatically and set time zone automatically, due to the fact I was on a TransAtlantic and changing time daily manually, It was causing an authentication issues and when I turned them back on it started working immediately. I doubt you would have done this but posting if others that may also do this and run into a similar problem.
  13. Aqua Class dose have a number of everyday items on the side of the menu. On M-Class ships I have never had a problem ordering from the MDR Menu.
  14. I was on a cruise and the RS was open and I had bid mid-range (1,800) and was rejected. It was still available when I boarded and asked how much to upgrade and they wanted $3,500 which was more than if I had paid full price to upgrade pre-cruise. They sailed an it remained open for the entire cruise. Greedy Revenue Manager.
  15. Sorry to hear. I've had that happen before. I've always had the same attitude. I was happy with my cabin but would have enjoyed a an upgrade. No go out and enjoy your cruise and next time you may be rewarded with an upgrade.
  16. Count me in. Even with a Premium Package and a Coffee Maker in our RS I bring my own Bodum Travel Press. I like my specific coffee blend and while I'm OK with the Nespresso Pods coffee their isn't my favorite.
  17. Curious to har that. I wonder if there's a test for salinity? I Googled on it (and we all know everything on the internet is true [sic] ) Citation: https://www.groundwatergovernance.org/what-is-in-cruise-ship-tap-water/ Does Cruise Ship water contain sodium? All the drinking water on the ships comes from the onboard desalinizing plant and has little or no salt. I just answered my own question - You can use a TDS meter to determine level of dissolved solids and salt. I have one from when I was breading Orchids. I'll have to bring it with me on the next cruise and see.
  18. Fantastic. Can we personally ask for you. LOL At least you hear the pain some of us have gone through. I also purchased some more shares yesterday. We cruise a lot and I've really took the risk out of ownership with the numerous OBC's I've received.
  19. We have been required to surrender our passports a number of times to facilitate immigration processing. I recall that on our cruise from Singapore to Rome we surrendered them but on a few occasions we received them back for in-person processing. If I recall it was for arrival at first port into India. You returned them back to Celebrity at completion of in-person processing. All other ports they were stamped with no personal appearance. The put a sticker on the back of each passport with Name and Stateroom number and were returned to us near the end of the cruise.
  20. A couple years ago they would reject if you had any promotion e.g. on-board booking credit etc but they changed that at least 2 years ago. My last booking had a whole bunch of OBC for various reasons and I got my OBC's
  21. LOL... Just shows that persistence works. Someone in another thread said that due to staffing issues they had farmed it our to a call center in Jamaica and there was a training learning curve.
  22. LOL -- If so I would not have had to escalate to the executive office in March after 3 failed attempt. The last rejection said my name was not on the reservation and the reservation wasn't valid. I have submitted prior to final payment before but usually wait until about 2 months prior to the cruise to file.

    Rome Cabs

I've used Rome Cabs for about 10 years and as you say they are not Cabs. I think I have always had a Black Mercedes and a professionally dressed driver. They have always arrived early and have always been both friendly and articulate.
  24. Drinking water is of course available on the ship for free. You can ask for it at any restaurant. Even though I have a Premium Package I often ask our Butler for a pitcher of Ice Water 2x a day. Most of the time the water is produced on board and is basically distilled sea water and as pure as distilled water. I also drink water from the tap. On occasions the ships take on water from a port and is often Chlorinated and is pretty bad tasting. I also drink lots of waters under the premium package.
