  1. Our last River was FRANCE's FINEST pre-covid. The first segment was shared with friends and the second we were by ourselves. We ate almost ALL of our meals on the Terrace...inside it was too chilly to open the doors...it was quieter. On our first River Cruise there was a modified menu upstairs but not so anymore.
  2. Think about i Antarctica ....the free air offered now is good! You can add onto both ends with good extensions. the Expedition Ships are well thought out. We had friends who went in January this year ( we were suppose to be on that cruise but all of a sudden the valve in my husband's heart needed to be replaced) and our friends really enjoyed the cruise. We had done the WC together!
  3. thank you but I probably won't remember which to use when I order my SCOTCH!
  4. and it is difficult at times to get a sommelier in the Main Dining Room to help.
  5. what is the difference ? " Wide range of upgraded selection of whiskeys & whisky’s "
  6. the wines on the ships change. In my experience the expensive wines will be by the bottle and your SSP will give a discount on bottle price but will not open a bottle for you and serve a glass as part of the SSP. I have never seen and $18 glass of wine. Scotch yes!
  7. Please let us know how the cruise is once you are onboard!
  8. Curious to know with ALL the problems that Vantage seems to be having were you able to insure the CRUISE?

That inaugural cruise had SO many value added opportunities I might be disappointed if we ever did another. The price also included insurance, free medical on board and LAUNDRY!!!!
  10. If you had paid $8000 CASH would the insurance not have been close or more than that? Why would you not insure your vouchers?
  11. We have done quite a bit of traveling since becoming Empty Nesters. Mostly on cruises both Ocean and River with land extensions usually. However, my favorite trip was our African Safari in Tanzania. The animal encouters, massiveness of the country side, and stillness of the night broken only by animal calls while nestled safely in a tent was as incredible as it gets! We will see if Antarctica changes my mind.
  12. Yes this will be welcome!!! We would have done things differently when we had to cancel our Antarctica trip if the vouchers could have been insured.
  13. We did take Malaria meds that the travel clinic doctors recommended. Did not have any side effects.
  14. IMO the excursions( both included and extra) on our World Cruise were superior to any we have experienced on our other cruises! I also think entertainment was much better! Amazing brunches and special dinners were also so special! There were yoga and stretching classes. A choir was formed! Everyday we were amazed and grateful to be able to wake up to the adventure of travel. As soon as I win the lottery we will go again!!! There were a number of singles and they seemed to love the experience too.I do not think you will regret this trip!
  15. Remember Viking may not have your favorite from your last trip. the wine list may even change during your cruise.
  16. Free Air again on the Expedition Antarctica and a bit of a reduction in fare.
  17. we are considering joining friends on British Isle Cruise for May 2024. We will not be aboard Viking Ocean until January so can't get the "onboard" pricing until then and probably the V category will be sold out...hoping for a great deal to show up soon!
  18. we often find a wine at Chef's Table or Manfredi's that we like and take a picture to use at other bars. Last cruise I found a White Bordeaux that I enjoyed and after a couple of times ordering it the bartender in the Explorer's Lounge or Livingroom usually had it available or went looking for a bottle. I like to take a glass of wine or sometimes a cocktail into dinner with me and then I don't get aggravated if it takes a while to get wine at the table. Often times daily included wines were served to tablemates before our order was even taken.
  19. i had to re-load my cruises yesterday
  20. FloraFun did you ever hear the dog next door? or chat with the neighbor about how/why they were allowed to bring the dog? This whole thing boggles my mind!!! NO DOGS!!!
  21. Biggest regret from our WC was that we did not do the optional trip to Tah Mahal. We thought we would enjoy what else was in India. I did like Goa and in Mumbaithe Elephant Island and Gandhi's home. India was sad for me...
  22. Melatonin is NOT a controlled substance. no worries
