  1. We used Overlord for both Normandy and for Mt St Michel (2 different cruises) they are an excellent company, highly recommend them.
  2. Yup...... we found service to be fine, no one better than Sonny and Marcus on any of the ships, but the food was truly only fair and the lack of other options was pretty lousy. I mean how many times can you eat the child's portion of Spaghetti & meat sauce for dinner (apparently 3...for me on our TA this past April)
  3. Very nice to hear of your experience. We love the "S" class ships, after 2 sailings on Apex if we ever book again on X it will be on an "S" class for sure. Prefer the layout, the service, Luminae is SO much better than on E class, and your reports of the butler service are encouraging.

I spoke with Oceania about using our credit for something outside of shore excursions and they told me no......so I guess the answer is no.....
  5. Oceania....which from all I've read has the most, or one of the most comfy beds at sea, outstanding food & service and a pool or two. We'll find out for sure in December.
  6. Haven't read anything about "dire need of a refurb." Sure it's older but I would prefer an older "S" class to a brand new "E" class anytime. Have read quite a few reviews on this forum and a few others and couldn't find ones that complained about the condition of the ship. A few comments about carpeting but little other comments.
  7. Book Equinox no matter what type stateroom. In a suite Luminae is light years better on S class ships than E class. You are able to order from MDR menus, MUCH smaller venue than on E class, especially Ascent as that version of Luminae is supposed to be even bigger than other E ships. No you won't have a "private" top deck but you're in the Med how often would you use it anyway? If not in a suite I would book Aqua on S but not on E. Again, Blu a much better venue than on E class. Martini bar on S class much nicer. You still have Sky lounge with wonderful ocean views at the top of ship, not on E class where only suites get that view. You have real balconies on S class, not a "window" balcony. The only thing we found better on E class was the theater which was excellent. And the price...............
  8. This is strange to me, I guess I don't understand Starlink well enough. On a Celebrity Apex TA this past April, which also had Starlink, it never defaulted to Euro's or Spain linked websites. It was the BEST wifi experience we've ever had on a ship.
  9. This has not been our experience on Celebrity. While sailing in a Celebrity suite on Apex this past April we were given "unlimited wifi" as in, use it as much as you want no minutes restriction. BUT it was for 2 devices not unlimited and, yes, since we were in a suite we had the all included package. When I wanted to use my IPAD either myself or my husband had to sign off our phone.
  10. I get that this frustrated you ALOT on the Vista but for many of us, maybe most of us, two devices is enough. We enjoy disconnecting from the world while on a ship, check emails daily and "surf" some but that's it. We've always been fine with Celebrity's one device per person that we received in a suite as recently as April of this year so am sure we'll be ok with Oceania when we board Vista in Dec. Might be interesting for Oceania to survey their guests about this. Someone like you obviously needs more.
  11. OK 5 months, but DrKoob stated it was 90 days.
  12. Intereting comparison. We are trying Oceania on Vista in December and thinking about trying Viking sometime in the future so all your comments are appreciated. One note, I'm pretty sure that Oceania, in the last month, changed final pay date to 6 months out, which is still better than Viking.
  13. I agree, we have cruised Princess several times and enjoyed them all. With their new "Princess Plus" and "Premium" the perks are equal to and in some things exceed what Celebrity offers these days.
  14. We are trying Oceania in December. Suspect it will be a great fit for us based on all the reading I have done. If not, it may be time to step away from cruise vacations for awhile.

What is the opening time for GDR?
  16. And the same to you. Hoping when we walk off the Vista after our December cruise that we will have found a new home. Celebrity Retreat was our main choice for the last 2 1/2 decades, but as you say, things change and we just wanted more for our $$. Hopeful that Oceania will fill in the gaps we've missed/lost.
  17. We too did a lot of reading about Oceania before we booked our first cruise on the line which will be this December. We have been unhappy with changes in prior lines along with large price increases which led us to Oceania. If you're going to spend the dollar then try and make sure you get what you want. It seems Oceania will fulfill that, but we won't know until we are onboard. And we can't wait!!!!!🙂
  18. Just saw a post on another social media site from someone currently on the Vista stating they are experiencing 12-14 foot waves, the post is from about 6 hours ago. It included a short video of their stateroom showing the bobbing and weaving of the ship!!!! Looks like a rough night for Vista, the post was tagged "sleepless on Vista." 😱
  19. As I said, from what I have learned you have to have more than one booked to get a better final pay date. You just stated you have 3 booked at this time, so am sure you have the better dates. Enjoy your cruise, we will be on Vista in December
  20. It is our experience that this is only true if you have more than one cruise booked. A single one and you still have to pay in full a year in advance.
