  1. How do I find out which shows will be on my sailing? I am assuming the pre-cruise concierge can reserve seats for us. Is that correct?
  2. Thanks for the offer, but we are sailing in September. 🤷‍♂️
  3. I hope you are correct! DW is very anxious about needing to walk any distance carrying her bags. The only videos we have seen about Civitavecchia show people walking in long queues dragging their bags before they get to the free port shuttle to the ship. Whatever the case, I now have a private car service booked for the trip from Rome to the port and I'll just deal with whatever comes. Thanks for the reassuring words, I'll pass them along to DW. 💁‍♂️
  4. You could try saying that your credit card comes with a bonus that your travel party will have priority boarding through a priority lane called the Haven. Similar to getting TSA Pre Check at the airports. Just a sneaky thought....😏
  5. Yes, I did ask for the contact info for the car service, but I've gotten no response yet. I looked at Shared Shuttle and they suggest putting a solicitation for others on our roll call to fill a vehicle. I am staying at a hotel in Rome for two days pre-cruise and the roll call for this cruise isn't very active. Finding others on the roll call staying at the same hotel wasn't practical. Thank you for the suggestions, I have decided to just book the private car service and just adapt to whatever comes at embarkation.
  6. Thanks, I have been trying to get an answer to this question from the hotel, but the contact person doesn't seem to understand my concern. She keeps merely sending me a response advising the shuttle bus or private transfer rates and booking info. Very frustrating especially since DW is very concerned she won't be able to take her bags very far at all.
  7. @Hlitner and @cruisemom42 - We are staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rome for two days pre-cruise. We will not be taking public transportation to Civitavecchia, and we prefer to use one of the two hotel offered transportation options - hotel shuttle bus or private hire car. I cannot seem to find out where we get dropped off at the port and more importantly do we need to lug our bags any distance or are there porters who take the luggage where we get dropped off. TIA
  8. OK, here's a couple of questions which partially involve the Haven. We will be sailing soon from Civitavecchia. We booked a two-day pre-cruise deviation, so we need to make our own way to the port from Rome. The hotel we are staying in has access to a private car service that will take us to Civitavecchia. At this time, we do not understand how we are supposed to get our luggage checked. Do we need to lug our bags to a port operated shuttle, is there a special drop for Haven guests? Where is the Haven check-in located? At this time, I do not know if the car service from the hotel has a permit that would allow us to be dropped off at the Breakaway. Does anyone have boarding experience to share so we know what to expect? P.S. We will not be taking any form of public transit from Rome to Civitavecchia.
  9. Thank you, understood. I never attach the cruise line luggage tags until I am actually being transported to the pier. I've always been concerned that somebody at an airport will send my luggage to the wrong destination due to confusion caused by multiple tags on the luggage. I will probably attach the vinyl tags to the ring that attaches my CC tag sleeves. Kind of like wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time. 😉
  10. @Sthrngary I know you don't like the adhesive luggage tags that come in the mail, but do the paper ones you can download show "priority" on them? Do you think I should put both types on my checked luggage?
  11. Just curious as I don't have any plans to go Down Under, but is the testing and vaccination requirement only for cruising or do these requirements apply to people travelling by air as well?
  12. NCL Air doesn't allow you to pick your flight times. We're simply more comfortable adding 24 hours onto your 6 hours. ☺️ DW is always anxious when we have any flight to catch, so staying at an airport hotel the night before the flight significantly reduces her anxiety about crowds and long lines at airports. This in turn, reduces my anxiety about dealing with her anxiety.
  13. This way, you eat less later at the buffet.... 🥬🥝🧁🍰🍰🤣
  14. The Cruise Critic ones use a clear plastic loop to attach the tag holder. As I posted earlier, they can be found here: Cruise Critic Store: Cruise Luggage Tag Holder - Cruise Critic Community
  15. We did two day prior and one day post. It allows for jet lag mitigation before the cruise, and the post cruise deviation makes for a much less stressful trip home.
  16. I'm not sure, but I think those luggage tags are mailed out to guests sailing in the Haven. Many experienced Haven passengers have reported that they prefer to use the standard ones they print out themselves from thier own computer.
  17. Definitely not!! They're supposed to be watching Richie!! 😅
  18. I think that usually the B2B 7 day cruises will start in FLL, return to FLL and the "14" day people stay onboard in the same stateroom. Mine starts in FLL and circles the Caribbean ending in FLL.
  19. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but DW & I worked very hard to earn the money that we are paying in order to enjoy the benefits of sailing in the Haven. If I had friends or relations sailing on the same cruise as us, and taking our meals and excursions together was a high priority for us, I would book similar cabins in the same part of the ship. The best way to ensure that you are able to stay together is to have your children book where you plan to be or for you to book where your children plan to be. My sister is sailing with us on our next cruise, and we are paying extra for her to stay in the Haven with us. As you can see, I am not just talking the talk, I'm walking the walk. It would be unfair to us that we should be paying extra for perks that others are being given for free. Some on here will agree with my belief and some will disagree. I guess it all comes down to your comfort level.
  20. Of course, you're correct if you're referencing three 7 night B2B cruises. Those would actually be three separate cruises sailed on consecutive dates. I am mostly thinking that my next Caribbean cruise on Princess is 14 days. It only counts as one cruise taken, even though it is more days than 4 West Coast 3 day Mexico/Canada trips. Again, my point is that if one wants to get to Elite fast and cheap, the West Coast offers the best opportunities to accomplish that goal. I'm content at Platinum, so I'm not grousing. 💁‍♂️
  21. We mostly sail from FLL and stay the night before in a local hotel. Because of early check out times, we always used to show up early, and it is nice to be in the smaller lounge instead of the large crowded main terminal seating.
