  1. We just booked an MSC Yacht Club suite for a third of the price of a comparable Celebrity Retreat cabin on a comparable itinerary! I believe we are now generally priced out of the Retreat. So yes, prices are crazy. Somebody must be willing to pay them though as they are booking up so I really can’t blame Celebrity.
  2. I agree there would be no refund but I think it gets quite messy if they are making changes after you agree to the contract and they have already issued eDocs (which will contradict the new changes).
  3. The app notification is just a reminder in case you haven’t already done the online check in. I got the same notification for my last two cruises a week or more after I had already done the online check-in.
  4. That is true but check-in starts at 45 days before the cruise. In this case, we had already agreed to our cruise contract for our May 9 sailing and received our eDocs which include the Cruise Contract when we got this e-mail stating it was effective for sailings departing April 12.
  5. Looks like old language, especially considering the last paragraph references the Xpedition but not Celebrity’s new Galápagos ship, the Flora. I’m sure the policy would be the same for both those ships. I’m following what is listed in my cruise contract which also happens to match what is currently on Celebrity’s website.
  6. Then where are you getting your information that Celebrity has changed back to two bottles per stateroom? Can you post the announcement you received and where you received it from?
  7. Check with the Holland board as I haven’t completely kept up with what’s going on with Holland but I remember reading in the last month or two that they will be removing the Music Walk, at least in the form it is now. We have yet to get on Holland in recent years and the Music Walk really intrigued so I was disappointed to hear the news that I may not get a chance to experience it.
  8. I've seen others comment on this on the Celebrity Eclipse FB group with most of the posts mentioning Australia specifically. I did not get the same e-mail even though I am on the Eclipse in less than 30 days (I believe the same cruise as you) and can't find the same reference in any of my documents/e-mails. My eDocs still say 2 bottles per person (page 8 of the eDocs). Celebrity's website (at least the US version) still says 2 bottles per person.
  9. We will be joining this cruise in Honolulu and are also booked on the North Shore Adventure Tour in Honolulu so maybe we will see you there! I look forward to following along with your first two legs as we get excited about our own cruise.
  10. On one cruise, I ran into a known cruise vLogger. Although, she has posted content on YouTube from that cruise, I never actually saw her recording. When I think of the cruise YouTube channels I follow and have watched occasionally, I can only think of one that probably is a bit obnoxious about their recording. All the rest try to pick quiet times and quiet areas and their goal is to be discrete. With those that are discrete, if you don't recognize them from watching their channel, you probably won't even notice they are on your cruise. I personally have a very small non-monetized YouTube (and Instagram) account that is just a hobby so do a little recording myself but my favorite time to record is around sunrise or on port days when the ship is quiet and not many are around. I personally think your chances of dealing with rude passengers are FAR greater than your chances of having to deal with an obnoxious influencer/content creator. And the few obnoxious influencers out there probably would be rude passengers even if they weren't influencing.
  11. Also, some cruise lines find a way to cover the tax charged on drink package drinks instead of passing that on to the passenger. With the drink package, I don't think I have ever been charged tax on a drink on Celebrity or Princess out of a Florida port. Carnival and NCL pass that tax on to the passenger even for those who have drink packages when in ports that charge it.
  12. A lot of things can go wrong anywhere between your end and Celebrity's end so just because you didn't change anything doesn't mean it was Celebrity's fault. And no, I don't see Celebrity's website down often. I did notice recently though that Princess's website had a statement it was going to be down overnight one night for a few hours, something that on rare occasions can happen with any website.
  13. How is a company putting together a video and then selling it to their customers on that sailing, not commercial use? You seem to be confusing how far of reach a video has with commercial use. Commercial use includes ANY video a company sells. And laws about the expectation of privacy and getting consent vary greatly from country to country. So there is no one blanket rule about what consent is required before a video can be posted on YouTube or sold commercially. The US has quite lax laws in this area.
  14. What cabin type are you in? These are the types of questions they ask when they reach out to those in sky suites or celebrity suites (and I've seen people recently post screen shots of a similar form for these lower suites). (Although that usually happens a few weeks before your cruise, not a full year.)
  15. Silhouette and Equinox are the same class so almost the same ship. I believe both have been revolutionized. The Equinox has the hot glass studio. The Silhouette has the lawn club grill. But other than that they are pretty similar. Does one have better timing or different better ports you prefer or better pricing? And 10 nights during spring break time will be better than a 7 night cruise. I agree I usually try to avoid this time of year but at least you aren't looking at a 7 night cruise.
  16. I definitely don't need a full cleaning twice a day with just the 2 of us and for that reason we take advantage of Go Green. But it is nice to have someone check on things and remove any glasses or dishes I have accumulated or replace towels (that never seem to dry in the small bathrooms) if we happen to have a late shower of the day. It's also nice to come back to the room at night with the lights dimmed and chocolates on our pillows. I don't expect the room steward spends a lot of time on our room (we are tidy people) but those little things are what make a vacation different from being at home at least for us.
  17. Not in isolation though. In those scenarios, they are still watching closer competitors like Holland and Princess. Holland has a number of fees in their dining room as well as fees related to anything but basic room service. I don't think Holland even offers lobster on their included MDR menu any night. Princess's room service menu is just continental plus only one hot item.
  18. No, Celebrity has not. They don't follow everything Royal does and I imagine they are trying to stay competitive with brands like Princess and Holland which I believe both still offer twice a day service. Royal competes more with Carnival and NCL, both of which have gone down to once a day service.
  19. Reservations are not required for anytime dining. There might be a short wait depending on when you want to eat but you can just show up when you are ready to eat.
  20. I just did checkin for our cruise week and a half ago for each person in our party. I snagged the times I wanted for everyone and then in the days that followed everyone went back in and finished completing the rest of their information.
  21. When we were in a penthouse in November, we gave our butler a list (coffee order, preferred snacks instead of canapés, fruit bowl, list of our dining reservations, plus the beverage choices we had given the shoreside concierge) which he mostly ignored. So I'm not sure a list will solve an inattentive butler issue. The one thing he did reliably was bring me a latte and pastries every morning at a set time.
  22. They removed Johnny Rockets from the Voyager when they added more cabins, I think in the 2019 revamp. The list @davekathy posted is probably an old list. I also enjoy the turkey burgers and since they don't get ordered as much, they tend to be made to order and thus fresh.
  23. Cancelling your move-up bid shouldn't open up other categories. In my experience, all the categories it will let me bid on are shown from the beginning. I've never seen it where it only lets you bid on one category (unless you are in a very high (but not highest) suite already.
  24. Yes, you can make reservations for each night. In the cruise planner, it's usually under dining, scroll down past the specialty dining and you will find an option to book select dining. In the app, click on the far right icon at the top, which should bring you to your reservation info, scroll down to Dining and there will be an option to make a reservation. FYI - a week out, you may not find much availability left. You still can just show up when you are hungry. I understand leave space for walk-ins and even for people to make reservations after they board.
  25. How long are you in port? Tulum is at least an 8 hour excursion so if your port day isn't long enough, they probably won't be able to offer it. I do also agree that it is still early and more will get added as you get closer to your sail date.
