  1. I think that there are plenty Aussie who do not want to dress up for dinner. we went on Cunard once and loved it but really can’t be bother dressing up all the time. times have changed. Eileen
  2. Have just got this credit card purely for the travel insurance available and have booked a few cruises and will keep doing this before I get to 81. Got a few years to go! Eileen
  3. Haha..,I know that was naughty of me. I have actually been on 2 Princess cruises, given I am from Melbourne, but not too difficulty to get to Sydney, Frequently flyer points make it all possible. look forward to more info. thanks Eileen
  4. Thanks Chilli, always read your comments on RC. Most of the posts here are related to Princess. They are not too happy with the amount of their corkage? My 4 free drinks sounds a lot better…,ha ha…Princess ..l Apologise. Eileen
  5. Goodness you learn a lot on CC! As most of our cruises are purchased in OZ I assume the gratuties are included but we always tip our cabin person and MDR people but I did notice that the Americans on our table did not! They were more fussy than us with the food and often asked for a change of meal! It would have to be pretty bad for us to do that because I always think it is my fault if I ordered the wrong dish. They know more than us how little staff are paid and they get cheap cruises! Different ideas from different nationalities! Eileen
  6. I realise but I would hope none of her family or friends read this .
  7. I can’t fit anymore in for 2024. But thanks for the info! Eileen
  8. I would have loved to go to Shetland because I read the Shetland books! Just finished the last TV series. The weather was so bad that the boat could not stop on one of our cruises. we did stop at the Orkney Islands and I had a cold but my husband went on the excursion and being from Scotland originally he dressed appropriately. There were a few Americans who were in Shorts and tee shirts. Not good for Scotland at any time of the year. Ha ha Eileen
  9. Hi on a Carnival cruise a few years ago my daughter bought drinks in the Casino and then got offered very good deals, better than us who got nothing. As I had booked the cruise and it had my email address the offer came to me but I could not use it only my daughter who could not afford it at that time. recently on a RC cruise we were at a table with a couple of US ladies. They said they always spent money in the Casino, only a few dollars each night. They said they kept a note of how much they spent and got offers all the time. Yes they would have taxes etc to pay but they often took it up. While on that cruise they showed us a cruise offer from Carnival, $100 pp. it was for about 16 days I think. Americans know all the tricks. We got refunded two excursions amount, because they were cancelled and had been bought with OBC and we did not know what to spend it on. Spent a small amount on rubbish but they told us to got to the casino and just spent a few dollars. We won a few extra dollars so went and got the winnings, including our excursions money back. Have kept the US dollars for our next Hawaiian cruise. Eileen
  10. We were on Carnival in OZ about 8 years ago with our family. It was their first cruise and they really enjoyed it. we have booked Carnival cruises for 2024 OZ winter (there is not much choice). I am sure that it will be fine. We are RC and Celebrity cruisers but am hoping these cruises will be ok. Just want out of Melbourne during the winter.! Eileen
  11. When is that going to happen. They are talking about the price of cruises having risen this year. Well with our low dollar that is just another reason for the price to rise. We can only hope that with the increase in the number of cruise lines coming to OZ it might just hold the prices! another reason I have 6 cruises booked! Eileen
  12. Hi Geoff, we have been booking overnight in Sydney before a cruise, whereas prior to Covid we just used to fly up on the day. i have taken a chance for a Carnival cruise in June to fly up on an early morning flight which is not school holidays and am hoping we get there ok, We have another cruise with Carnival at the end of July but as it is from Sydney to Singapore I think we will book a flight the day before. A fair bit of extra expense! Eileen
  13. Definitely not…my 4 drinks on RC are all I can cope with and that is having a chardy with lunch and two at dinner and if I can possibly manage a cocktail later in the night! We are nearly Diamond + so do not know how I could manage 5! even on Azamara last Christmas I could have as many as I wanted but mind you i gave away the Chilean chardy because it was so bad and had to find something else! Eileen
  14. If you do the happy hour and had a drinks package as well, could you still walk!!🥳🍷🍷 Eileen
  15. There are so many places that we cannot go nowadays. Being a baby boomer we are so lucky that we were able to travel all over the world at a time when there was reasonable peace unlike now. Hope all these poor people who live in war torn areas can have some peace soon. Eileen
  16. That is very interesting. How good is CC you learn something new everyday. Thankyou. Eileen
  17. We are definitely not religious but really enjoyed Israel. We had an excellent Jewish tour guide on an Oceania tour . He said you should view these places with your heart and not with your brain. I think that a lot depends on your tour guide. Other people did not have good tour guides. We were just interested in all the places that we had heard about in school, that was in the UK. We saw different places the second time. Really enjoyed seeing all the people being baptised in the river Jordan, Each to their own! Eileen
  18. We were on Odyssey of the Seas on our cruise last year to Israel. A very nice ship and a lovely cruise. which ship are you on for your half world cruise. Most people on this website tend to be Princess people. We are RC. The free drinks make all the difference. Ha ha . On our last cruise from Japan to Singapore we were talking to a couple on a B2B and their drinks package was $3600. That’s a good part of another cruise!🥶
  19. Your research is very good. We were on a cruise to Israel quite a few years ago as well and there were people on that cruise that told us it was their third attempt to get there. The cruise ships are very good at judging safety so I am sure they will all turn back. we now see how lucky we have been in our cruises over the last 15 years. We have been to St Petersburg, China , Israel, Odessa and a few other Black Sea ports. This year we have done two to the Med. For the next 18 months we are sticking to good old Oz with the odd one to Singapore and Hawaii. Eileen
  20. I just had a look on CC and RC was not getting to the Israeli ports until 10th so they were able to stop elsewhere but I am sure there are other boats there. Eileen
  21. Hi we we’re on the RC to Israel this weekend last year. we feel for all the people in that area. We had a lovely cruise and met all races of people! all were lovely. on that cruise there were lots of people who were getting off the ship to do their own thing as we were there for three days. I read somebody saying their excursion was called back to the ship after three hours. i do hope everybody is safe. I think the boats were leaving as soon as possible so do not know what would happen if you were not on a boat excursion. terrible situation. Hope people are safe and this ends soon, but I don’t think so. Eileen
  22. I am sure all our cruises will go up in price because of our dollar! I read that it could go down to $40 against the US dollar. Let’s hope they are wrong, I have booked a lot of cruises for the next couple of years. Eileen
