Having read all the comments about Arcadia, I also have a friend who has just returned home. She tells me that in spite of the high price she paid, the accommodation was only very basic, not the expected luxury. (Whoever heard of a cabin steward hanging a bath towel on the back of the bathroom door so it would dry! Eg. AND ONLY ONE EXAMPLE. no tablecloths in the buffet in the evenings.
I am due to go on Ventura on a 35 night cruise in March 2023 and am now seriously considering cancelling. I pay a high price and will not consider going if I am expected to put up with only BASIC accommodation.

Isolating in your cabin must be a huge relief for those people who are not prepared to cruise in case they are forced to disembark when it is not medically necessary.

I am going on a 35 night cruise in March 2023 from Southampton to New Orleans and then to Miami and up the Florida Coastline. Whilst I accept the fact that should the onboard doctor consider I need hospitalisation, I would be disembarked to hospital. What worries me is that I may be disembarked because I contract COVID-19 during the trip and forced to spend time in a quarantine hotel. Does anyone have any thoughts.

You are correct but Now that March 2023 is coming closer, I had hoped that P and O had had a change of heart!

I have stayed loyal to P and O for very many years and have seen many cut backs. I now find they have completely overstepped the mark as they will not even serve fresh coffee in your cabin for breakfast. And this whilst charging £2.50 for cabin service. Does anybody have any comments? Also, I understand that there is no turn down service. Although I have a 45 night cruise booked for March 2023, I think I may cancel this and not cruise with p and o again.

It’s totally appalling not to offer fresh coffee with room service and have to rely on instant coffee (rubbish). I will need to take coffee bags with me for a 35 night cruise. Another of the P & O cruise cutbacks.

Does anyone have a menu please? Do they still bring fresh coffee?

I have heard that this is now discontinued. Is this correct

I am booked in a balcony cabin on a transatlantic cruise, stopping in New Orleans. What will happen if I get Covid on the way to New Orleans?

I have paid a very hefty deposit for a cruise I am taking in March 2023. Reading all the posts about new things happening, having to book for the theatre, the possibility of being disembarked should I get Covid (I can no longer fly long distance) is all rather worrying. If I cancel I will lose my deposit. My idea of cruising has always been ‘do what I like when I like’. I recognise some old faces from the threads and wonder what you all think

What happens if I don’t have a mobile phone

Thank you so much, I remember one on th Acura which had a live band, playing so loudly that it was virtually impossible to hold a conversation. A quiet bar is what I am looking for. Social distancing, conversation and a Loud band are not a good mix.

What is the equivalent of Andersons on the Ventura

Err ok thanks for that info but you know there are coffee outlets on ships
I know where the outlets are but I do nothing until I have had my ‘coffee fix’

I don’t drink instant coffee at home and I’m certainly not going to pay thousands of pounds for a cruise and drink it there.
-
I’ve got it sussed, I’m taking decent coffee with me and I shall visit the buffet the afternoon before to get a roll and butter to go into the fridge.

I wish I had known all this before I paid my deposit. Surely, this sort of thing should be made known at the time of booking, before the deposit is paid. Had I known these were conditions of sailing I would not have booked.

Sorry to keep on about the breakfast being withdrawn from the amount you have paid in your cruise fare but I am wondering who I should write to in order to complain. Not only are they now charging £2.50 but they are also refusing to bring fresh coffee. These cutbacks really should be made known before your book and your deposit is paid.
Sorry, I should have added that I am referring to room service for breakfast.

Anybody booked on Ventura 35 night cruise at the beginning of March 2023
-
It’s not the £2.50 that is the issue, it’s the fact that this is yet another of P&o’s cut backs. This was always included in the price of the holiday, so it’s NOT complimentary. Some of us hate instant coffee. I don’t drink it at home so I’m certainly not going to pay thousands of pounds to drink it on a cruise.

Yet another of P and O cuts. One of my pleasures was having DECENT coffee, together with a croissant delivered daily. I don’t even drink instant coffee at home. I shall be packing the Krups fresh ground coffee or some coffee bags.

I always used Staysure but this time I need £10,000 cancellation cover as I am going on a 35 night holiday in March 2023. Staysure will only offer £5,000. I am elderly and have pre existing (controlled by medication) conditions. Can anybody help.

Selbourne,
like you, I have been cruising for years, mostly on Aurora and Arcadia in balcony cabins and I am not comparing a cruise cabin with a hotel room but from my friend it would appear that the little touches which made the cabin look nice have disappeared. This concerns me when faced with the prospect of a very hefty balance yet to be paid. Are the nice touches gone for good? Or is it Covid related.
