  1. if this is the cruise you want, from the departure point you want as well as the price at which you are comfortable paying, put down the deposit and dont give it a 2nd thought. also, if you end up with buyers remorse, you can cancel and get a full refund up to 120 days before sailing. the only advantage i have ever found using one of ncl agents, is they can put the entire package together for you. ie, if youre entitled to any discounts, ordering transportation to-from the airport to ship and back, etc. when i decide what ship, dates, prices and cabin, i then call the agent and give him/her the info.
  2. fyi, i also give the cabin steward (depending on the length of the cruise) $20, on the 1st day, $20 mid cruise) $20 at the end if it's a 7 day cruise and an additional $20 every 3-4 days again, depending on the length. this has been debated previously, but if you're going to be in a haven suite, and additional $20-40 to the maitre'd couldnt hurt.
  3. wrong, wrong and WRONG! $25 per person per day is even more than the dsc. depending on the length of your cruise and the extent of your interactions with your butler a couple of benjamins should be sufficient. and maybe 50-100 to the concierge depending how much of his/her services you utilize
  4. when we cruised in 2022, we flew into venice a few days early (imho) venice is a must see!. hired a shuttle service before we sailed, took us to trieste, stayed over night and went directly to the ship. dont blame ncl, venice doesnt want ANY cruise ships docking there, so consequently, it either sails from trieste, or ravena. trieste, is also a very pretty city, certainly not venice, but attractive in its own right
  5. we were on the b2b dawn last july/august, and both legs of the cruise, we had a cocktail party gathering, as well as the packets on each. it's the thought that ncl honors the vets that counts.
  6. hey chief, if you feel that the service was crap, dont tip anything. move the $10 from your pocket, to a hand of blackjack!
  7. this is one of the many, many reasons I prefer to book airline and hotel reservations myself, rather than rely on ncl
  8. what could you possibly be thinking, wanting to leave an 8 and 10 year old unsupervised when you go off the ship. Sorry, but are you both INSANE. this is a risk no normal parent should even be thinking about. why not do the kids a favor. they're on the cruise also, so why not take them along for the shore excursions? Safer all around and i'm sure the kids would enjoy the sights bad idea, really, really bad idea!
  9. i believe you get 3, mixers, and they're free, what could be better than that
  10. chances are you'd be really hard-pressed to find that many unsold haven cabins to accomodate you, your parents and siblings especially on short notice also, remember it might be cost prohibitive since the price for an upgrade is double. you and your wife. finally, your kids, grandkids, cousins nieces, nephews, and the entire gang are precluded from the haven, it's restaurant, bar, pool, etc. you're kind of shortchanging the older adult cousins, arent you
  11. hilton doubletree. we just walked around and looked atthe scenery, had a pizza at an out door cafe
  12. how off topic can we get? LOL after you paint it black, get off of my cloud, and bring me back some brown sugar to share with jumpin jack flash
  13. remember, "he who hesitates is lost" run, dont walk. call ncl as soon as possible, and keep trying until a real live human talks to you and you get confirmation of the cancelation. sorry you have to cancel. anytime i need to cancel a cruise, it's depressing for me, as i always look forward to it ( the cruise, not the cancellation)
  14. go and ask ruby tuesday or take one of mother's little helper's
  15. on the web. we were on the star in 2022 and one of the ports were brugge, it's a shame you couldnt dock there, it's one of the prettiest cities (places) we've ever been. this past summer we were on the dawn and couldnt stop in berlin and edinburgh. in 2016, we couldnt dock in taipei or hanoi. all these missed ports came with a great deal of disappointment. really wanted to see hanoi and berlin. as they say, them's the breaks, and what can you do. even given a plausible explanation, it doesnt remove the disappointment of missing places one actually was looking forward to seeing and probably one of the primary reasons to book that particular cruise by the way, berlin and edinburgh due to weather conditions, hanoi/taipei, mechanical issues
  16. hey chief, we can always hope (useless to try, but better than a stick in the eye) certainly wasnt expecting a contest!
  17. once again ncl overwhelms it's consumer base with this miraculous, fantasmagoric opportunity. think i'll paint the shed instead, and the gutters need cleaning, seems like a lot more fun. by the way, is there any mention of the category type? sarcasm wholly and intentionally added to this post. all of you be well, safe and enjoyable cruising, and see ya on the flip side.
  18. not me!! wouldnt ncl be better served if they posted their announcement on their own web-site, or maybe their failure to do so is a way to admit this big announcement "aint no big deal"
  19. maybe i missed it completely, or just looked in the wrong spot, but went to ncl website and didnt see any type of "big, new" announcement went to google, and saw ncl press release about the new aqua sailings in 2025.(at 76 years old) i dont like to plan that far ahead, and dont even buy green bananas if this was actually the big announcement, once again, as i posted before, i am more than underwhelmed
  20. why would anyone really care if the epic in some peoples estimation is "ugly" or not. as long as your cabin is neat, nicely arranged and comfortable, and the amenities are there who cares what the ship looks like? although some of the cabin setups are questionable, and one can wonder what the designers were either smoking or drinking when they designed her. been on the epic twice, and how she looked out side, never even occurred to me
  21. i can see the problem, but with all the dining options on board, why would you want to eat in the same place for 7 days. im sure any of the many restaurants on the ship, can accomodate you with a wheelchair accessible table, and seafood less menu choices. i'd be very much surprised if ncl couldnt do this for you
  22. if sailing from jacksonville is their new big announcement, i continue to be underwhelmed. id rather watch paint dry, it;s much more exciting
  23. having read all of ncl's underwhelming "big "announcements", from 70% off 2nd guest, 2nd guess is free, 50% off cruise, etc and seeing no major changes in actual pricing, i'm not going to hold my breath
  24. hey, UK, you left out chilling and pouring my champagne, and making my omelet in the morning
