  1. We have met solo travelers on various cruises and they have always been welcome to join others for dinner. I presume most lines have open seating now, so show up and ask to be at a shared table. Agree with someone’s comment that Trivia is an excellent way to meet a few people. Happy sailing!
  2. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of your choices stated. We like dressing for dinner, but usually there are options on ship. We have done 2 Seabourn cruises on the Venture. It’s more casual and I suspect all of the small expedition ships will be the same. I think Tauk block books on ships, no Tauk ships. I may be wrong. We had a fabulous Seabourn cruise in the Adriatic. The ports were excellent. Have fun searching
  3. Have you looked for a Baggalini? They are lightweight and have tons of styles.
  4. We don’t do this, but I like seeing other people’s.
  5. I took my last one to the bank and cashed in for $$ years ago. I thought they were on their way out then.
  6. I know other lines have a window when they make their hotels available, usually in a certain time frame prior to cruise. Could this be the same?
  7. I’d rather wait for my luggage than wind my way through the passport control line.
  8. I would ask friends who may have used one they like.
  9. thanks Princeton123211. We’ve never used Uber except with friends. Guess we will need to learn.
  10. We are cruising out of LA in January and it’s been awhile since I’ve flown into LA. Anyone know if taxis are readily available to the port area? We are staying at the Crown Plaza Harbor Hotel.
  11. We are lucky enough in our retirement to cruise the lines with smaller ships. They do cost more, but we choose that over new cars or other life choices. If someone onboard is snooty about being there we listen and ignore. In the main, passengers are like us and just enjoy I find the trend toward buying up to amenities on ships that makes for a much more first class second class experience the chance for snootiness. Just my thought. We all just like the experience of cruising r we wouldn’t be here.
  12. Why is this any different than flying to a location to pick up a cruise? I’m sure some regulation says no, but makes no sense to me if you want to do 2 cruises that go from point A to Point B.
  13. Just be aware that if you do anything on your own ensure you have the timing right to be back on ship at the designated time. It’s quite common to do your own thing sightseeing-wise, just be mindful of times! Enjoy yourselves. And yes, as above, it can be addictive!
  14. Would a skort be okay since it looks like a skirt? Just a thought if anyone might know.
  15. Nine, but had a cancellation this month due to personal reasons Two in 2021 Three in 2022 Three in 2023 One in 2024 and one more booked this year (so far) Three booked for 2025
  16. I think you will like Lufthansa. We flew their business to Barcelona a couple years ago via Munich. The service was wonderful. Even provided a night shirt! Their website should advise where they have lounges. enjoy!
  17. I wouldn’t worry about it. If I’m onboard and someone starts talking politics I walk away. Leave them to it. Most people are trying to have a good time. You’ll just have to endure that some will be happy with whatever outcome and others won’t.😁
  18. We had an interesting one recently with Silversea. We must have received 3 emails with itinerary port changes. Then 3+ weeks out we get a call from our TA with a heads up that due to the Jones Act the cruise would end in Vancouver not SF. They offered a full refund, discounted fare or 10% up on future booking. Very strange the line did not know the reprieve of the Jones Act had expired. We opted to cancel, it worked best for us.
  19. We have celebrated anniversaries on Seabourn. They do a fabulous job. 25th Anniversary complete with private menu and a renewal of vows ceremony with 12 people attending. No extra charges. We love the size of their ships. We did the Encore from Athens in 2022. Stops in Croatia, Greece and Italy. I hope you find something that works for you.
  20. I always take my Rx in those daily dispensers. I have just put them in my carryon and have never been questioned. I’ve never even had them pulled out and questioned. Neither has my husband. If I take my vitamins I put them in small snack bags and label them D, C, etc. re liquids. I think you would need to keep to the allowed size unless you put in your checked bag. Just my view.
  21. We also use Chase Sapphire. On top of that we purchase an annual travel policy. Hopefully if the need arose the two would work together to cover our needs.
