  1. Honestly, a baby is way easier than a toddler for travel. If they sleep through the night, and like being carried in a carrier, it's fine. It's the toddler years that will leave you looking at Notre Dame, unable to go inside, with a kid flailing around on the gravel ground outside, who does not give one F about how pretty it is in inside or how they can look at the gargoyles if they go to the top, becuase they are jet lagged and over tired and just want some routine. It will be made slightly better when they fall asleep in the stroller with banana and Nutella crepe on their face and you can stroll for a brief while. YMMV.
  2. I leave this weekend and couldn't do mine either. I spent forever on hold with customer service and they didn't have a solution but said it was a known problem. Only after that I found this thread - thank you!! Incognito mode didn't help. But clearing the cache did. And using the website, not the app. Now all I have to do is pack!
  3. We loved the hot tubs on our Alaskan cruise. (And my kids loved the pool but they're little and weird.)
  4. I don't know how you held back from even asking him "oh yeah, what's that guy like" when he claimed to be your friend...
  5. Some of these are way bigger than my first Manhattan apartment.
  6. Any. It's purely theoretical. I'm about to take my first Haven trip and trying to figure out how to up my game in the future!! But it would be nice to have on an Alaskan trip I would imagine....
  7. I've used it as an excuse to wear some fancy dress I bought for an event that I would likely never wear again. A bit "over dressed" I guess, but fun to dress up and take nice family pictures.
  8. Happened to part of my group, a day or two before Nassau. Let them know asap. They took care of everything and got everyone where they needed to go. Just have all of your travel documents and ID etc in order.
  9. What room would have an outdoor private hot tub on the balcony? (For the record, this room is way out of my league, but a girl can dream...)
  10. Next week, Escape. I know it can vary, so I'm not getting my hopes up! Just want to make sure I check in with the right place at the right time to hopefully secure a spot.
  11. Perfect, thanks. I've always been tempted to buy a week long pass but want to try it out to see if it would be worth it for me for next time.
  12. If spa day passes become available (I know it's not likely), what's the best way to find out? I'm assuming the best bet is a port day? There's one port I'm fine with skipping and would love to try to get a pass for that day.
  13. I didn't realize reservations were suggested for comedy - how necessary is that? I already have dinner and Choir of Man reservations (and am Haven, in case that makes a difference in being able to secure anything...) I like to play some things by ear and not over schedule myself in advance.
  14. For those who got Covid on a cruise, what precautions did you take to not spread to others, or did you go about your business as usual?
  15. I got Covid on a cruise a few months ago. 3 out of 4 friends who just got back from a cruise got Covid (2 mild "like a cold", one pretty bad). I'm considering wearing a mask for an upcoming trip when indoors. It sucks to have a vacation ruined like that.
  16. That would be great - thanks! I'm a vegetarian who will be there in a couple of weeks. Do they bring it around like drink service? I thought about doing a "live" but I'm pretty sure it would be boring - "today I ate a croissant in my room, a veggie burger by the pool, and a drink in the hot tub. Yesterday I did the same. Tomorrow I will do it again. I live here now and will never leave"
  17. Sitka - Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest - yes, we saw lots of wildlife from the ship, but it was nice to be on the smaller boat and getting a little closer and slowing down when there was something spectacular. Juneau - Mendenhall Glacier by Helicopter and Guided Walk - probably the best ship excursion I've ever been on. Skagway we rented a car and it was one of the best days of the trip. Nice to go at our own pace. Got my dog obsessed little girl to see and snuggle sled dogs. Drove up to Emerald Lake and back. There's a guide online somewhere if you're interested that includes highlights.
  18. How does lunch at the Haven pool work? Is there a menu or a buffet type area?
  19. I just think that a heads up when they know is warranted. I wouldn't try to make them pay for my lost deposit or something - that's part of the risk when booking an outside activity. But with enough notice I can cancel it change what I need to. And I plan my trip to my liking - balancing types of excursions or even where I make my dinner reservation depending on my plan for the rest of the day.
  20. How do you get this information? I'm on the Escape a different week, but if someone booked a tour/resort/car rental etc in a port, they would need to know in advance!
  21. Dumb follow up question - if I don't have the drink package, do they charge for club soda at the bar? What about in Haven? I don't mind paying for a few, and obviously I would tip on each, but just curious what the cost would be. I'm also happy to drink plain water in my own reusable bottle.
  22. The buffet, so at least it's made to my own specifications. Lol...
  23. I think this group posting is jaded. We've all been on multiple cruises, likely for years, and things lose their luster after a while. First time I stepped on a ship I couldn't believe it was a ship! Everything was exciting. A balcony! A "free" bottle of sparkling wine! A diverse menu! But now we take it for granted. I'm on the ship, ok, it's pretty, here's my balcony, let's head to lunch, oh it's the same menu as last time, let's pop the cork, oh it's not really as good as the real stuff.... Stop letting yourself get jaded. If you want a theatre trip, head to NY or London. If you want lobster (is that really the height of luxury anymore?) then go to Maine. I'm on a cruise to relax, and though it might be nice to have mind blowing entertainment and gourmet food, if I soak in some sun while watching the ocean while eating a mediocre salad, so be it - I'm relaxed, I'm not at work, I don't have to cook, and the sunset is spectacular.
  24. That's awesome!! I'm trying Moderno for the first time soon, just for the salad bar. I don't eat fish but I love that they were so accommodating for you!
  25. I justify this by purchasing (in my head) a "continental-breakfast- delivered-right-to-the-stateroom package all week for only $35!" A room that's $35 extra and includes breakfast all week seems like a steal.
