  1. Dirty passengers help the environment? 🤦
  2. That is the first I have ever read of someone's fare being discounted due to disembarking early. I have always read that the fare is still the full amount. One hint, after getting approved, make sure you have it in writing and take that with you onto the ship.
  3. It may sound silly to you, but it is the law. If you think it is so ridiculous, lobby to get the law changed. But you might notice the cruise lines are not lobbying to do that (with the temporary exception of one season for Alaska when there was a problem entering Canada with Canada's covid rules.) You might also want to read the post by @chengkp75, and note what positive effects the law has for US businesses.
  4. I think that was covered in a graduate level course, not the introductory course. 🤣
  5. Makes you wonder if they even read the complaint, or just said it looks like a complaint, send out the letter.
  6. #3 here from someone who went to college in the 60s and is always ready to start a movement.
  7. Wish we had that. They are sending us from Newark to Heathrow via Montreal. We are direct back from Reykjavik.
  8. You also have to feel sorry for the local tour operators who are also losing income due to nothing they did, but because of the actions of NCL.
  9. I don't think the corporate bean counters take into account the negative reaction they get when they charter a cruise. Yes, there is obviously a short term gain, but I don't think they realize the pissed off people who would have been passengers are serious when they say we are never going to cruise with you again. I know we once had a river cruise chartered out from under us well past final payment. (Returning your money is definitely not a priority of theirs.) I eventually told them quit sending your spam advertising on line and by real mail, because we will never ever consider your cruise line again. This was about 20 years ago, and thinking about it, I am still pissed at them.
  10. She e-mailed back almost immediately, and all she could say was that as of this month ships were still tendering.
  11. This is really a bummer. We have a private tour booked in August in Isafjordur. I e-mailed the tour operator and asked what she knew either about the Prima not docking or when the improvements so that tendering might be finished. She e-mailed back almost immediately, and said all she knew wsa that tendering was still going on this month. We are really looking forward to this tour, and frankly if this is really what is happening, it is really a reason to remove NCL from the cruise lines we will consider in the future.
  12. I did just send an e-mail to the tour operator to see if she has any information on when the improvements to the port might be finished and if it is true that the Prima has not been docking.
  13. NCL has it down as a port, as opposed to a tender port. From what I have read, it is a tender port except for small ships. The Prima, which we are scheduled for August is not a small ship. They are supposed to be building an extension to not make it a tender port, but are behind schedule. From reading the NCL boards, it seems the ship has been skipping the port saying it can not dock. But posters on that board say the Celebrity Apex is docking and they feel that NCL just does not want to tender. Is there any information out there as to when the improvements are set to be finished? We have a private excursion booked there and paid for that we are loo forward to. (I usually do not pay in advance, but can understand a vendor in a small port having been burned too often wanting to be paid in advance.) I have been assured that if the the ship does not dock, we will be reimbursed. But it will be less a 5% handling fee. Not as much worried about the small amount of money, but more missing the tour and the whole idea of they will not dock when they can,
  14. Sure I can. please read exactly what I wrote. I said if he just did it, it would not even be noticed. And then I said it would be noticed if he could get a movement started and many passengers did the same/
  15. So, in a real emergency would you just stay in your cabin to avoid the crowd?
  16. Good luck. We were going to take the Princess excursion back to Heathrow by way of Stonehenge in 2020 after a Norwegian fjords cruise, but alas the Covid shutdown got in the way. 😢
  17. 🤣at not ruling that out. How would we know if one of us were really an NCL employee whose job is to monitor these boards?
  18. Now we are talking something different, " a number of" as opposed to just you doing it.
  19. That is contradictory. It would be so little that the cruise line would not notice it. They are used to passengers from countries that do not have a tip culture often taking away tips. Yours would just be one more, not enough to notice.
  20. Thanks again to both of you. I have been watching 1 episode a day. Today will be #7 out of 8. I am thoroughly enjoying it, though knowing in the end that Otto is right that D-Day signals the war will come to an end, it will not be soon enough for the Frank Family. DW has now seen the first episode, and of course enjoyed it and intends to watch more.
  21. But will there really be a shortfall compared to the minimum they are required to receive because of your withholding tips? Maybe so if you could organize a mass withholding, but I really doubt anything you could do by yourself would have any negative effect on the cruise line, only on the hardworking staff.
  22. NCL specifically made an offer to those booked to prepay at the rate when they booked, or otherwise on board pay the new rate. We prepaid as it saved us $88 for the two of us on an 11 night cruise.
  23. That is interesting. I've been asking for a while about Isafjordur. NCL lists it as not a tender port, but everything I have read seems to say it is except for very small ships, plus the person in charge of the private tour we have booked for there says to meet "where the tenders come in". What you wrote seems to explain that apparent contradiction. I don't suppose anyone knows when the work is supposed to be completed. Ours is the first cruise in August from London (Southampton) that goes there.
  24. I have the feeling that the $25 credit is for 2 reasons both having to do with encouraging you to come in a day or two early. The first is you are less likely to miss the cruise. The second is it gives them more choices for air flights when you do not have to get in on time the day of the cruise. JMHO.
