  1. The only caveat to that is that viruses seem to affect more people in the winter. We have to hope there is no new and more serious outbreak this winter. I am sure they hope they do not have to extend protocols.
  2. Our TA said something similar until I mentioned to him that our August 2023 cruise started in the UK before it went to EU countries. But now it looks like we will not need it as that will be before the date it will be implemented.
  3. That's known as wishful thinking. I don't expect cruises to embark in St. Petersburg for a long, long time.
  4. Glad you were able to find positive information that helped you, and that you were also able to basically dismiss those who were just being critical of your choice. I hope it all works out for you and rest of your party.
  5. We really thought we would enjoy river cruising. After only one ocean cruise, we found a river cruise that fit our schedule and where we wanted to go perfectly. (DW was a teacher and it fit into the time between Christmas and New Years Day.) And then after final payment, the company chartered the cruise out from under us. They did give us other offers that I am sure they though were better, but we had a destination (Amsterdam that we ended up doing on a land trip.) Since then we have never really found a river cruise that fit our schedule that well. Plus we would never use that company again.
  6. DW is (actually was as he just retired) an art teacher. So our main goal in Florence was to visit the two most major museums. She had prebooked timed visits for both. Hence, the on your own was a good fit.
  7. Our Prima cruise next summer has two stops in Iceland before Reykjavik, and then an overnight in Reykjavik.
  8. Yes, a positive frame of mind will go a long way to enjoying a cruise. Conversely, if you go with a negative frame of mind, the chances are you will not enjoy the cruise as much as you should.
  9. We did the Florence on Your Own because I had screwed up 10 years earlier and got us on a train going the wrong way, and we never made it to Florence. (Luckily DW figured it out and we got back and did end up having time to see Pisa, but not Florence.) We took that train the second time. And it was very hot as it always is in the summer in Italy. And it was even hotter on the packed train going back. And then a fight broke out. DW said we should have paid the extra and taken a Rome on Your Own especially with the air conditioned NCL bus both ways.
  10. I think the person who posted that meant that they are not going to go back to a you must be vaccinated rule. However, I disagree with that. I am sure that they do not want to, but conditions could happen which would force them to require vaccinations again. Cross your fingers that that does not happen, and not just because how it would affect cruises.
  11. It was several years ago, but we did not need a visa to take the excursion to Ephesus from Kusadasi.
  12. Glad to help. I hope it works for you. And even if it does not, if you buy OBC, it is completely refundable. So the only thing you can lose is the minuscule amount of interest on the money you pay for the OBC.
  13. Sounds like an old Albert King blues song--"If It Wasn't for Bad Luck, I'd Have No Luck at All".
  14. But they always had the option of being vaccinated. That was the point I was trying to make. There were also cc users who posted that they did get vaccinated for the sole reason of being then able to take a cruise.
  15. We once bought OBC on a HAL cruise under the World's Greatest Cruise Line which covered all cruise lines owned by the Carnival Corporation and we got the AMEX credit.
  16. With the caveat, unless they decided to become vaccinated.
  17. Aren't stocks in general, not just cruise stock, going down after several days of going up?
  18. No real need to apologize. And I left out one other port we did a round trip from and needed a passport, Copenhagen.
  19. Yes, it is in the evening. Was the fringe festival also there? It was both times we were in Edinburgh in August, once on a land trip and once on a cruise (which was the time we went to the Tattoo as we had an overnight in Edinburgh).
  20. So, maybe there should be a new thread--Carnival stock over $10.
  21. I guess more people cruise to drink than cruise to muster. LOL
  22. Thanks for sharing. Any comments about Scotland? Were you in Edinburgh, and if so was it during the time of the Military Tattoo?
