  1. We once saw the cruise director and assistant cruise director on shore in Dublin. We of course recognized them, but even with a small ship, the former Ocean Princess, I really would not expect them to recognize us.
  2. I would hope someone sailing the Prima will post the menu.
  3. I could have wrote the exact same post except it is DW that is the pool and beach person. She also does not like to be pampered. By the end of our first cruise (2002), she said she missed peanut butter and jelly.
  4. Ok, the one after ours. We have an overnight in Reykjavik on our cruise. Does yours have an overnight at any point?
  5. I don't know if this applies everywhere, but Rick Steves also has a tv show. It is on our local PBS from New York City. The episode today was about Italy. Also one can find the books mentioned in previous posts often in libraries.
  6. Yes, meeting different people is one of the attractions of cruising. And one can also learn from people from different cultures among the passengers and the crew.
  7. I can't imagine how stressful it is for TAs as they get stuck with these hold for multiple customers.
  8. Right, though I would not have used the words stuck with, even with the quotation marks.
  9. Same here, plus we, especially DW, sleep better in total darkness.
  10. Which one in August; we are on the one that departs on the 6th. Picked it as it will include our wedding anniversary (actually a sea day between Norway and Iceland).
  11. I think every line has excellent sterwards, but HAL's are the very best.
  12. But, they can get creative once they are in your cabin. DW and I once get a big chuckle out of the towel animal that was wearing DW's sunglasses.
  13. Are you sure of that? I do remember my TA saying he does not get a commission until we are on the ship.
  14. And it is also to prevent a fire. Ever heard of the Star Princess?
  15. I believe it is the Prima doing this first.
  16. I wonder if it is different employees interpreting the rules for obtaining OBC with a "discounted" cruise differently. Some posts that say they were turned down, but then received the OBC when applying again would seem to validate this theory.
  17. But my art teacher DW definitely wants to spend a day in London before the cruise. When we did a cruise out of Dover, we stayed a day in London. We had to take the train to Dover because Princess did not have a transfer from Dover.
  18. Thank you, and since there are always people there with signs, that must be in the area you can access without going through the boarding process.
  19. Yes. the Sofitel was the hotel we booked. Did not even consider we could not get to the baggage area. If and when we do something like this again, I will have to ask our TA about this.
  20. And right after that, there will be a new variant. It seems to be a never ending cycle, though less deadly is a positive development.
  21. Yes, agree at least for those of us fully vaccinated and boosted. But the one factor that seems not to have changed for too many people is the fear associated with the term Covid.
  22. One of the people we had lessons with (not the one quoted in the above post) was the late Jackie Horner who was the inspiration for the movie Dirty Dancing. (The article says she is 86, but it is old. She passed away, dancing and teaching dancing, until well into her 90s.) She was an extremely elegant lady to the very end. We miss her. https://nypost.com/2019/04/17/borscht-belt-crew-that-inspired-dirty-dancing-to-reunite-in-catskills/
  23. My DW is serious about dancing, and wants to get the steps perfect. OTOH, I just want to move my body to the music which constantly frustrates her. We have taken lessons, and one of the instructors as I just moved my body to my own rhythm said "I was very creative.". I do not think he meant it as a compliment.
  24. In 2020 on our cancelled cruise from Southampton, we were going to fly in on British Airways and stay at the hotel that is in that terminal, 5 IIRC.
