I know that when you make a pre-cruise purchase using OBC it will lock in the exchange rate and have used this to my advantage in the past. Right now, I want to avoid making a purchase with OBC so that it doesn't lock in however there is a purchase I want to make. Does anyone know if I pay by cc if it will still lock in my exchange rate?

Was your reservation in CAD or USD? If you paid in CAD then the charge to your account will be as well. The exchange lock in is when you start to draw down the USD OBC, which you are not doing at this time.

On the flip side there are those who habitually let the doors slam, and could care less how loud they are. In which case an admonishment is useless.

And they are the same ones who do it at the hotel as well.

I like select so I do not have to decide where or what time I want dinner. My life is appointments and having to be somewhere on time, NOT my vacation. Never have I waited more than 20-30 minutes for a table most of the time no wait. No way do I know what I feel like eating months out.

Finally someone who agrees with my train of thought.

Agree. It be be great if that's all we needed to do for our upcoming NE/Canada cruise.

Except that for that itinerary you need to follow the Canadian rules and have a monitored test. I hope that changes by spring so I won't need to test prior to the second leg of my B2B.

Can't address the 21 day issue, but the Captain's Club level does make a difference in a MoveUp bid.The percentages shown below are added to the original bid.

    https://www.celebritycruises.com/gb/captains-club/program-changes

Looking to take your vacation to the next level? You’re in luck. MoveUp allows you to bid on a stateroom upgrade after you’ve purchased your cruise. As a valued Captain’s Club member your bid gets a bonus boost based on your tier. So, you get more value than what you bid. Classic members get an extra 1% multiplier, Select members get a 2% multiplier, Elite members get a 3% multiplier, Elite Plus members get a 4% multiplier, and Zenith members get a 5% multiplier.

Agreed it makes a difference in that sense, but not in timing or chances.

Looking at my upcoming cruise on the Summit, they have a Casino Gents Night where the description is “Gents only”.  Do they really kick all the woman out of the casino for an hour?  (There is also a Casino Ladies Night on another night.) It says it’s from 8-9 and 10-11.  So the opposing gender is kicked out for an hour, let back in for an hour and the kicked out again. Are they serious?!?  And who decides what gender someone is?

SMH.  You are serious I presume. Be that as it may, most likely a section reserved for the event.

Where is the wording on this for pre-cruise test, please? I have read it before, but just went to the X web site "Healthy, etc."  and do not see anything about non-proctored test for after Sept. 5.

Here you go, the link to the web page...

    Updated requirements

Effective Sept 5 leaving US ports

    Testing Requirements

    Vaccinated Guests

For all sailings 9 nights or less, no pre-boarding testing is required.

For all sailings 10 nights or longer, vaccinated guests must present a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 3 days prior to boarding. Test results from any commercially available Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), including self-tests, will be accepted. Tests do not have to be supervised or proctored. Test results may be presented as a printout, screenshot or photo of the test result or the actual test. Antibody tests are not accepted.

    Unvaccinated Guests

For all sailings, unvaccinated guests ages 5 and older must present a negative COVID-19 test result from a test taken within 3 days prior to boarding. Test results from any commercially available Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), including self-tests, will be accepted. Tests do not have to be supervised or proctored. Test results may be presented as a printout, screenshot or photo of the test result or the actual test. Antibody tests are not accepted.

    Certificate of Recovery

Guests who have recently recovered from COVID-19 may present a Certificate of Recovery and proof of the positive PCR or Antigen test result taken between 11-90 days prior to the sail date in order to board and be exempt from testing. The Certificate of Recovery can be presented as an NHS Covid Pass, EU Certificate of Recovery or as a letter from a healthcare provider. Please be aware that some ports of call may not accept a Certificate of Recovery for the purposes of debarking and enjoying the destination.

I remember reading a thread a while ago about how to determine if the bed in a stateroom is next to the bathroom or the balcony.  I tried searching for it but couldn’t find it.  Does anyone remember the method?  I’ll soon be booking a cruise on the Reflection and would like a room that has the bed next to the bath.  Thanks for the help.

On the S class the bed is by the bath if the deck plan shows a black square or triangle in the room. These are the sofa beds and/or upper bunks which are by the balcony.

Any particular reason? What's the harm?

The original premise for anytime was that you didn't need to schedule every aspect of every day months in advance. You would enjoy your day and dine as you wished on that particular day. This takes away much of that spontenaety with so many spots reserved, but if one feels compelled to have a regimented day, so be it.

I'm not sure why you are confounded by those who might not want to dine at 5:30 or 8pm, but at some other predetermined time instead.

As I posted in a previously, it's not the fact that people want to eat at different times, I do as well ( the reason for select), but the need for reservations.

Looking at cabins for a future cruise and it has been so long since we sailed that I am not sure where the smoking areas are. Are they still on the port side of deck 5? Looking at a cabin on deck six and do not want to be above the smoking areas.

Stay away from cabins on 6 and 7 on the port side. It can get stinky on your balcony.

Thanks Eclipse.   This is all common sense but with all the threads I was seeing about making specific reservations I was doubting myself ....

I also am confounded by all the people that want to make reservations. If you want a set time, then there are already two options for you. I have always felt that anytime means show up and get seated when you want to eat, but apparently I must be wrong.😁
