  1. I know this is an old post, but I wanted to ask your opinion. There will be four of us sailing the Solstice in February. Post cruise I reserved a rental car at the Enterprise at the Crowne Plaza. We plan to get there a little before it opens at 9. Will it be an issue getting a cab to take the 4 of us about a mile to the Crowne Plaza? Should we just walk it? Whatever advice you can give would be most helpful!
  2. If anyone on this cruise can post copies of the Disembarkation Information Sheet I would be most grateful! It will assist in planning our February cruise disembarkation.
  3. I've always said Celebrity is a make your own kind of fun cruiseline. Yes, it's very lowkey and TBH not a lot to do. But sometimes you want that kind of vacation. other times you may want an environment that's alot more energetic and a more vibrant atmosphere. That's why I can enjoy both a Carnival cruise and a Celebrity cruise for different reasons.
  4. We put ours in a ziplock bag and brought them home. And you know what, they were still CRUNCHY yummy!!!
  5. $25-$30 a spin on a penny machine but playing 5 cents or 10 cents. He earned just under 19,000 points. His range of points earnings/cruise is 15k-25k. We were on an Elite cruise.
  6. Great photos. If you get a chance and can sneak into Michael's Club I'd love to see some photos to see if ANYTHING was done to it during the recent drydock.
  7. I have something similar with regards to booking rooms in February on the Solstice (My husband and I each got comped cabins from the casino, so also treating my sister and BIL). So never having done this before, I have some questions. Was it an issue getting extra keys? As in your situation we would be swapping one person in each room. Was there ever any issues with charges or the cabin attendant, or anything else when you did this? I'm assuming you didn't actually notify Guest Services of the people swap, but just gave the appropriate individuals the extra keys and left everything as is? Any helpful hints would be appreciated!
  8. Any speculation why Celebrity does this? They are two totally different ways of preparing beef and not remotely the same. When I order a steak, I want it to be a steak, not roast beef. Celebrity is literally the only cruiseline that does this.
  9. Haven't seen those at all since the restart. Been on all three ship classes and only the aluminum bottles for regular water.
  10. Very on point observations IMO. We've butted heads on many threads here on CC so I was curious how you would perceive a Celebrity cruise. Rightly or wrongly I have the opinion that you seemed to view that Carnival can do no wrong, so I was pleasantly surprised that your opinions about Celebrity are fair and balanced. I'm glad you're having a good time and I understand exactly what you mean about the vibe on Carnival vs Celebrity. As someone who enjoys and values the aesthetics of my surroundings the entire Celebrity Fleet has the upscale contemporary aesthetics that I find very pleasing which is why I was so hard on the Carnival Pride when it's counterparts on Celebrity are the Millennium Class ships and their aesthetics are so far removed from the Spirit Class on Carnival. But to be fair I still sail on them but begrudgingly. Again thank you for your reporting and enjoy your cruise. As time goes by I have less patience to do live trip reports since I know how time consuming they are, so your efforts are appreciated.
  11. ANOTHER meal that's not a steak but a roast. I really wish they would stop doing that.
  12. Thank you for your time spent on this trip report. I'm curious about your initial impressions so far from a loyal Carnival cruiser.
  13. NY area/suburban public schools are off the week of February 19th, so you should be OK.
  14. Of course it means nothing this was just one of those fun/silly topics of discussion. Nothing more.
  15. Blue Chip Club comped cruises in Retreat can be offered with AND WITHOUT a beverage package. It's all up to the Casino department and the inventory supplied to them. On that particular Reflection cruise we had a Sky Suite and there were no always Included benefits attached to it. So no internet, bev package, or gratuities. Depending on your Casino players club status you will get those benefits, so MY HUSBAND received his players club tier benefits of whole cruise internet and a classic beverage program. Since at the Sky Suite level a beverage package is not part of the cabin benefits it wasn't included. I would assume comped higher level Retreat cabins would include all the benefits that's part of the cabin but again not necessarily those that are considered extra always included benefits.
  16. I wonder if the structure of the E-Class is so unique that it doesn't allow for more variation in cabin types? I find that hard to believe since there's Sky Suites mixed among the IV cabins. But so far all three E-Class ships have the same mix of cabin types, even though they know they can charge more for a true outside balcony configuration. I wonder if the theories about drag and efficiency are correct, hence the absence of cabin type mix on the newest builds?
  17. Good eye. Yes, we've been cruising almost exclusively on casino comped cruises for the past 8-9 years, maybe more. My husband is the gambler so he has the casino tier status and drinks package that goes along with it.
  18. I have 94 keycards of 101 cruises taken. Souvenirs. The first few on NCL back in 2001 didn't have keycards and a couple of times the cards were confiscated when we downlined and disembarked early.
  19. We did the Norwegian Fjords this summer on a different cruise line on a ship that didn't have a forward facing upper deck observation Lounge. We had a balcony where the bed was next to it. It was wonderful staying in bed and watching the amazing scenery go by. When I spotted a waterfall, I would go outside, take a picture, and go back inside. TBH we never really purposely went to up to hang out in the public areas. I preferred being in my own room. Given how we enjoyed the Fjords I have no issues with a IV cabin for an Alaskan cruise. In fact we will be on the Apex, in an IV cabin, in July for an Iceland, Ireland, and Scotland cruise. As much as I try to set the record straight with my posts on IV cabins, I truly love them and have no hate for them AT ALL. My only beef is with Celebrity calling them Verandas. It's a different type of cabin; much more than a traditional oceanview, but less than a true veranda/balcony cabin.
  20. As your quote shows it has nothing to do with keeping the HVAC on when the window is open. They will NEVER, EVER allow the HVAC to be on when the window is open. PERIOD.
  21. It's been verified many, many times by others and myself. I've verified it on all three ships. People want to attribute all these magical things to the bifold doors but as I've said they are nothing more than closet doors meant to give the appearance of a balcony.
  22. That is SO WEIRD. YES, that's exactly what happened to us, and it cleared up on day three.
