  1. Are there any times when pride of america is cheaper? It almost seems like its cheaper to book at last minute for it, but i don't know if thats true. Are there any months that are cheaper or do they ever drop the price? I'm a canadian solo traveller so i am experiencing a double whammy in terms of cost but in just hearing someone experienced a typhoon when they were travelling to hawaii from vancouver, this makes me want to just fork over the cash for the pride of america sailing.
  2. Thanks everyone. Yes it really is cost vs. experience. With royal caribbean i have a cruise credit. Princess price is a fairly good deal as low single supplement but not as cheap. As Sea Hag says there is no guarantee with tracy arm. I would go end of june but that is still fairly early in the season. Princess cruise also goes to icy strait which i haven’t been to. I thought the food was better on princess but i don’t really know.
  3. Thanks. I should have mentioned i’ve bern to glacier bay already and was interested going to a different glaciet.
  4. I’m debating to take a cruise to alaska via princess or royal caribbean. The royal caribbean cruise is cheaper so i’m inclined to take that. However i’ve heard princess has special events and even dinners specific to alaska. Is that the case? Also is the food better on princess vs. Royal caribbean? The cruises both go to hubbard, although royal caribbean goes to tracy arm too. I’m also interested if princess ever puts excursions on sale.
  5. I am shocked. I accidentally paid the full princess fare and it posted on nov 28. I just received the refund for it today! This shows they can be fast when they want to be, or at least princess is.
  6. I guess i never really understood what the taxes were for when you paid them.
  7. I don't understand why an excursion isn't acceptable. As it is now, some excursions sell out. Its the passengers who sign up early who get first dibs.
  8. I think i’ll phone thursday if i haven’t seen the refund by then.Bet they’ll blame it on the fact i’m from canada.
  9. I’d rather be able to go, even if its on an excursion, personally.
  10. I think it could be controlled as you could say only passengers who sign up for excursions are able to attend.
  11. Thanks. I’d be going end of june. I’m thinking about it. Do you usually see whales?
  12. Just wondering how rough it is when doing the whale watching in juneau? I was considering the harv and marv whale watching tour but i don’t like it too rough.
  13. Thanks. I’ll definitely be more careful next time and i won’t be too hopeful my refund arrives in a timely manner.
  14. I was looking at this excursion as it is less expensive then the taku lodge excursion. Are there any other reviews of this?
  15. Well, i did a very stupid thing. I somehow managed to pay the full balance on my cruise instead of a 1.00 deposit! I ‘m still not sure how i did it, i think my card initially didn’t work so i was bounced to my account and i must just not have paid attention. The good news is i contacted my cruise consultant and she was able to take care of that today and get me the refund. She says refund could take 15-20 days. Is that true? In any event, my visa statement doesn’t close until dec 23rd so fingers crossed the refund comes through by then. Anyways, just pay attention! And i would recommend contacting your cruise consultant instead of main line but this is my first experience with this.
  16. Thanks both! I’m canadian and chops lunch seems the most reasonable choice with exchange rate.
  17. Interested if anyone has tried this. I was thinking about having chops lunch twice, once with steak and once with salmon. I know people say you can have multiple appetizers and sides but i don’t like to overeat.
  18. I'm wondering how much crowding in ports should dictate what cruise you go on. I'm booked on the June 25 Brilliance of the Seas and the ports are quite busy 7 for Ketchikan and 5 for Juneau, Sitka is OK. The other cruise i was thinking of was the crown princess on May 23 which has 2 in Juneau and Ketchikan and 3 in Skagway. 0 in icy strait! The reason i booked the Brilliance of the Seas is its a multi glacier cruise that goes to Hubbard and Tracy Arm. Interior cabins are also sold out on Brilliance so it will be a busy ship. I liked it goes to sitka. On the other hand the crown princess is a 10 day cruise that goes to Hubbard and Sitka but also Icy strait and skagway I guess i'm thinking out loud here. I am taking excursions in Juneau and Ketchikan so maybe that will help with crowding. I've been to Alaska in September before and i guess i didn't think through how busy the summer would be.
  19. Just wondering if anyone has tried the salmon at chops lunch?
  20. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. I thought there may be a thanksgiving sale and they usually post new sales midnight eastern 9 pacific.
  21. Is there supposed to be obc with that offer? It would be great if there was obc too! So it is a cyber monday offer?
  22. I am disappointed too in this sale and wish i booked under love boat sale. I’m going to wait for what comes next.
  23. Sales on excursions on my cruise are up to 30% off. One day there was a flash sale and they were all 35% off (and yes they were. I know the prices.) So depending on your ship i wouldn’t call it nothing, still worth a look.
  24. I’m just glad they announced the flash sale (for me it was 35% off excursions for a day.) I’ll definitely pay attention to sales though 90% of time nothing changes.
