  1. Also how early can you make specialty restaurant reservations because my preference would be 5:00 just as the cruise leaves port.
  2. I have a few questions about specialty restaurants. First can you book them same day on the cruise. I am on a pacific coastal and concerned it will be rough and prefer not to book a day to eat when it is rough. Or to add, how late can you make a cancellation? Also, wonder how good the sushi tastes on izumi when it must be frozen? Or would it be better to book it a port day when they bring in the sushi. Which would people recommend izumi or giovanni? One thing i'm thinking of doing is doing the chops lunch and izumi since that would be the cheaper option. On the other hand, someone mentioned the steak at giovanni is better than chops so could do dinner at giovannis and izumi. Thanks for your help.
  3. Thanks again everyone for responding. I’m on a pacific coastal so my only hope is its nice enough to be outside.
  4. Just a note to check your invoice very carefully after they make change to the booking. I've also had problems with taxes and once had a change fee added inappropriately.
  5. It was a refundable deposit rather than non refundable deposit. He switched it to non refundable and then it took an hour to make it a refundable deposit again. My booking dropped 10.00 but i just don't want to go through the hassle again.
  6. Thanks. I’ve been debating cancelling my cruise but these are great tips to spend more time outside and eat safely in a restaurant. I understand serenade has a jogging track too and that would be nice.
  7. I’ve revised my statement. Its 11 Celsius right now (comparable to 50 degrees) so that isn’t that cold although i imagine when its windy it would be cold. So thanks for that i would have thought it would be colder. Maybe a cardigan and windbreaker? But probably colder at night.
  8. Also are there any nice outdoor seating areas or would that be around the pool. I hope this is helpful for op too!
  9. Thanks for the responses. Thats great there is a covered area. Just also wondering if in the specialty restaurants like chops the seats are more spaced out then in main dining room.
  10. Thanks. That does seem quite cold. I guess i can layer with a fleece and windbreaker.
  11. Just to add i didn’t mean to hijack the ops thread. My question seemed related.
  12. Thanks for your description. So the outdoor eating area outside windjammer is covered? I’m going on a pacific coastal and i imagine it will rain but i’d like to be outside. Is schooner bar completely inside? Just thinking about covid and ways i can be outside.
  13. Due to covid, i’d like to spend time outside on the ship. There is outside seating on the serenade for windjammer buffet. But i imagine it would be quite cold until the boat gets to san francisco. Is that correct? I’d be going end of september.

  15. Thanks for sharing your stories. I am having second thoughts about my cruise.I have a final payment due for a pacific coastal. The good thing is its covered under cruise with confidence. The bad thing is as it ends in la i would be quarantining there. I’m inclined to fly to san francisco instead and holiday that way although it sounds like i could pick up covid at the airport.. However i’m thinking of cruising to alaska in the spring. As i would be able to quarantine in vancouver (i’m from vancouver) it would be better. And lets hope covid is gone by then!
  16. Just a note i find a lot of cancellation insurance (at least in canada) says they won’t cover it if you can get a travel credit. Make sure you read the fine print.
  17. Sorry just to clarify i was on hold withe agent. He had a lot of trouble making it refundable. I don’t want to go through that again,
  18. What is the minimum people will phone in for? Mine has dropped 13.00 but after being on hold an hour for last drop, i’m not sure i want to phone.
  19. It appears there are reduced solo fares to alaska on the discovery princess (seattle) and royal princess (vancouver) in september at least. I would check out the other ships and dates too. I didn’t take a detailed look at all of them.
  20. Yes i’m debating whether to take a cruise right now. Its not about the health effects its about having to quarantine for 10 days in a foreign country if i get it. I’m from vancouver and may just take an alaskan next year so i can quarantine at home. Cruises are riskier for getting covid i don’t think anyone can deny that although i think some people will try.
  21. When i learned canada is considered a level 3, i thought the rating system was completely ridiculous. I’m from canada and it is not high risk. Maybe these level 4 designations are something to pay attention too. I can’t say as i question cdc’s judgement.
  22. Serenade is now showing you can book as a solo again. I don’t understand. What was the point?
  23. I saved 100.00 so thanks. This thread was a constant reminder to me to check. Be for warned to remind them if it is a refundable fare. The agent made mine non refundable and it took an hour to fix it.
  24. I’m interested in that as well. If you apply a cwc credit to a cruise and then cancel it, technically was it redeemed? Or is it considered unredeemed?
