  1. The amount of preservatives probably keeps the meat safe...and might be what they use for rejuvenation therapies in the spa, too.
  2. It makes sense that you may have been confused for about 5 seconds, but the very first screen you see after selecting Aqua Class Stateroom has "Cruise Only" right in the middle. You can scroll to the right to choose the more expensive inclusive option. I guess I am just objecting to your term because this is the first time I have ever heard of "bait and switch" being used to accuse a company of advertising, and offering as the very first choice, the less expensive product. I agree they changed the way it was displayed from what you were used to, but that is because two options are now offered instead of only AI in Aqua Staterooms. Exactly how should the new option be displayed? (All prices in any category have never been displayed on the first display screen--only the cheapest.) Not trying to make you feel wrong, only to help you understand that there is no indication Celebrity acted deceptively -- so that you can cruise without any resentment!
  3. @1Vigo I don't understand how the lower pricing showing initially is bait and switch. That is a scam tactic of offering something cheaply with no intention of making it available, then steering a customer to something more expensive. I will agree with you if the displayed Cruise Only price is not available to book. But changing how they display their offers from your prior experience doesn't seem shady to me.
  4. I asked because I once had a situation with prepaid nonrefundable restaurant reservations treating a brother who decided to not show up. I decided not to ask for reimb b/c of your same concerns. Swallowing a loss like that may have been a lesson I needed not to rely on a guy who had stood us up many times before. Good luck!
  5. Just wondering whether they were really reluctant to go from the beginning and why they are backing out. Unless you pushed them into it, @hcat seems correct to ask them to pay. OTH, what would the cruise be like if they felt compelled to go and griped all cruise long?
  6. @Cap_D If you don't mind, which hotel in LV was so disregarding of your issue? We were at Flamingo in June after about 8 years not going to LV, and was shocked at how the customer service and maintenance seem to have diminished. Outlets in our room on side of the nightstands had unattached covers with visible wire lugs. Light bulb missing, trash piled up. Very disappointed.
  7. Again with the comments denigrating DIYers. Yes, we know you like TAs, but there have been many posts about TAs who are unavailable in urgent situations, and others who have royally screwed up bookings. The response is always, "Well, you have to find a GOOD TA!" but that's not so easy if you only cruise a couple times. Recommendations aren't allowed here, and one person's great experiences do not mean mine will match it. I'd rather take responsibility for my own, and be able to resolve problems. As a retired lawyer, maybe that is less stressful for me to tackle than for some, and I certainly have the time. I just wish the snide comments would stop every time someone talks about any issues in solving things.
  8. Ah, reminders of dealing with the cable company. Always choose "New service" menu option, not the "Cancel service" one.
  9. Others have had this problem: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2971444-we-paid-in-full-and-i-logged-into-my-account-and-it-says-we-owe-6000-ceo-email-plz/
  10. Glad to hear it! And thanks for letting me know in case I run into it again. 🤨
  11. So my refund that took 2 months because Celebrity failed to actually process it was my credit card's fault? I have probably cancelled upwards of 30 items with Celebrity and RCL, some because of cancelled cruises and others because of a cheaper alternative in a sale. Had delays in about 5, none due to my credit cards.
  12. I seem to remember the same thing (using OBC that covered it all), entering the cc because I figured I could cancel it, and then it just entered zero as the charged amount. Not guaranteeing this, but it might be worth a try.
  13. We had a 32 foot pool in our yard at our last house. DW and I would swim 1/2 mile regularly, about 9 strokes. I did one mile once. 165 lengths...actually did 5 extras to make up for 165 pushes off the wall. Boring as all get out! How long is the Solarium pool?
  14. You still can put them together for packing -- saves a lot of space. Just put a few on one side of a piece of wax paper and snap one on the other side of each. They would be hard to pull straight apart but you can slide them off. Roll it up, put in a large ziplock bag.
  15. If it is vitally important that it be Chinese food on precisely Christmas Day, I wouldn't cruise then. If it is significant but could be adjusted most years in case of emergencies or travel interruption, maybe OP could just plan a special Chinese restaurant the night before embarking or after the cruise is over. OP will likely be able to find a much better meal at a highly rated on-shore restaurant than they will get if the crew has to scrounge something up. Christmas is important to many, but the actual date, remember, is an artificial construct unrelated to the religious meaning itself. Why be a nitpicker about a calendar?
  16. Aggressive drivers are good at those, too!
  17. The pass is for an upgrade to premium. Would need basic first I think.
  18. I always thought Xcel was shorthand for Cancel. An odd choice. Maybe it will get chartered for a lot of adult only cruises.
  19. Post #17, you said: "You put down a deposit, which guaranteed the best rates, and the all inclusive, including gratuities and OBC (as per the chart wrk2cruise posted) you decided at a later date. Used to be had to be booked within one year but that changed to 6 months last winter. Book now or book later. We ve done this on every cruise."
