  1. I was on the Joy in 2022, it's a nice ship and very similar to her sister ships in the BA+ class. If I were you I would wait until people sail on her after the dry dock and all changes have been completed, to get a good idea of how the ship will be when you sail.
  2. I guess they need to update the FAQ, Prima class is not listed - https://www.ncl.com/ca/en/cruise-faq/smoking
  3. Additionally - you'd need the sleeve to put the room card in... CC sells some as well - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/ccstore/lanyard/
  4. Fine, go sail Royal Caribbean, you won't know what the drink package costs for your cruise until you're booked. The drink package is a different price depending on ship and itinerary. Oh, so are the activities at their private island - a cabana could be $200 on one cruise but $400 on another...
  5. I think they expanded it to all venues. The description on the website seems to point in that direction. Note 6 here - https://www.ncl.com/latitudes-rewards-program#tier_benefits
  6. Was the ship aware? Typically this is not allowed due to logistics of going through customs and needing the agents there to do that. Immigration was cleared at the first US port, but customs would still have been needed. My parents did the opposite direction on Princess. I drove them to the port in Brooklyn, then after the cruise they took a train from QC to Montreal and then down the Adirondack line for me to pick them up in Saratoga.
  7. Yeah... when I saw the inside cabin for $1600 for a solo (plus ancillary costs like port fees and taxes, grats, etc) I jumped on it! I'm still working, but I booked it 6 months ago so I was able to get time off approval before I booked it.
  8. I completely missed this!! I'm on that cruise!!!
  9. Just keep in mind - NCL only opens a portion of the reservation slots pre-cruise, that's why they book up fast.
  10. You were looking at a Studio compared to a regular inside. NCL now has some "regular" size cabins categorized as 'solo'. Also, for what it's worth, the Studio cabins are not half the size - a regular inside cabin is as small as 135 sq. feet, a Studio is 99.
  11. Someone asked this nearly identical question recently, this thread was only a few below yours in the list -
  12. The big challenge with Quebec City is that the airport there isn't huge and doesn't have a lot of flights. Your best success for flights will be through Montreal, which is a bit of a ride away (either by train or by bus). That needs to be factored in to your decision. This is by no means a statement meant to deter you from embarking or disembarking in that port, just making you aware.
  13. LOTS of info in the Florida Departures forum, where I expect this will be moved - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/386-florida-departures/ I stayed in the Hampton Inn Cape Canaveral in March. To get there from MCO I rented a car, which could then be turned in at the rental agency office (Enterprise, National and Alamo have a shared office near the port) where I was then able to board a shuttle to the cruise terminal.
  14. I've sailed NCL 4 times since 2019. Not a huge data set, but still informational. There has been ONE port cancellation and it was during the cruise. My upcoming cruise has had an alteration to the itinerary - ADDING a port...
  15. No need to look far, there's a "semi-live" thread from not even 2 weeks ago...
  16. I've received a random OBC when a port was missed. Was it a lot? no, but it was something. For GSC is a whole other question....
  17. @chewsifer1220 the Breakaway doesn't have the observation lounge. You'll want to find the library if you need indoors. The Waterfront on deck 8 would otherwise be a good spot...
  18. Pretty much. On NCL the solo group will go to dinner as a group and get seated together or you could walk up to the dining room on your own and ask to be seated at a table with others that wanted to share.
  19. You specifically book a Studio category, they're not just given to you because you're sailing solo. You booked an inside cabin so you got an inside cabin. Yes, NCL (and to some extent on other lines) has Studio cabins on 9 ships, though one only has four of them.
  20. My first cruise I was with a bunch of people that were 'vets' and some hadn't sailed the line too much. They kept on complaining about how the line was different from what they were used to on their preferred line. Between that and the weather it's a surprise I ever stepped foot on a ship again...
  21. There's no way they can possibly know that they need to do this if the GSC stop is after that one. They sometimes won't know until they drop anchor that the tendering process just isn't going to happen. Knowing two days in advance so they can extend another port? lol, no. It seems that they're making GSC more often than not recently, I haven't seen too many complaints here recently.
  22. and go to the nightly solo meet, if you want. The time and location will be listed in the Freestyle Daily. As that ship doesn't have a Studio Lounge the location could vary from night to night...
  23. @CountyHighway35 this - Booking for one or two gets you the same size table...
  24. Your experience was the same as mine has been on NCL in the past. It might help to mention the ship, NCL has 20 of them in the fleet.
  25. That's the case for my cruise coming up next month, the category I'm booked in is currently $800 more than I booked it for, back in June. Had I waited to book I would be waiting to sail a Panama Canal itinerary..
