  1. 5'11" and 280 or so when I was last in a Studio cabin (I've put on some since, but trying to drop some before my trip) I just left the door to the toilet area open and had no trouble...
  2. Not just made good use of it, he actually seemed to like it and the entire concept! He has stayed in RC's solo balcony rooms before...
  3. For what it's worth - I'm giving the Escape a try in March. I've LOVED the Joy and Bliss but I wanted a different itinerary. If I do a PC transit it will be on one of those two, though. I haven't tried the Encore, but I don't like that Spice was removed...
  4. Bliss, Joy, Encore and Escape are Breakaway+ ships, all but the Escape have the Observation Lounge (which is GORGEOUS) and segregated smoking area in the casino, and all but the Encore have Spice H20. On the Bliss and Joy it seemed like there was always music playing in several locations around the ship - DBH, Sugarcane, Cavern Club, OL, Atrium - any combination of those...
  5. That's how one can SPEND $1,000 of refundable OBC, but the OBC for buying CND's effectively offsets half the cost of them, not resulting in OBC to spend in another manner...
  6. It doesn't. I'm by no means small (but smaller than Tony from a YouTube channel) and I had no problems with space in a Studio cabin. I'm even going back to one in March..
  7. OP booked a sail-away, I'm going to agree with the above...
  8. I was confused as well, as this line is in the CND T&C on the website - Only refundable Onboard Credits and the Non-Refundable Onboard Credit given for purchasing CruiseNext deposits may be used towards your CruiseNext purchase. Here's the link if people don't believe me - https://www.ncl.com/popup/cruisenext_terms
  9. I was once told that they try to have someone different each week, or every second week. When I sailed in April 2019 the solo host had been the host the week before but he ASKED for the second week as a bunch of the solos ended up being B2B cruisers. When I sailed in October of that year the solo host was different but the solo host from April was still on board.
  10. I didn't say they were. Using more than two discounts or vouchers must require a manual override then. When I was booking my next cruise (did it myself online) it only let me apply two items from my available 'credits', either two CND's or one CND and the 10% discount. Once two items were applied the rest were unavailable to select.
  11. You are allowed a maximum of two 'vouchers' or discounts per cabin. I had two CND's and could only use one if I also wanted to apply a 10% discount code that was also on my account. CND's and discounts are applied per cabin, not per passenger.
  12. Studio Lounge access was ONLY given for the meet-up, and that access was only through the one door being propped open to allow non-Studio solo passengers access to the lounge just for the meet. As the solo host left with the group going to the MDR for dinner they would remove the wedge and allow the door to the Studio section to close and re-secure it to Studio guests only. It's not a secure area like a computer server room, with 'anti-tailgate' sensors to ensure only one person per swipe goes through. There's nothing preventing a Studio guest from bringing another solo they met elsewhere on the ship into the lounge/Studio area at any time during the cruise.
  13. When I sailed in a Studio on the Bliss in 2019 they wouldn't give keycard access to non-Studio passengers but they did prop open the door for the nightly meet-up. Are you saying they stopped propping open the door too?
  14. Your net charge was exactly the same, just accounted differently, except one should have been at full charge still since you had an odd number. Why not just leave it as it normally is done?
  15. This is simply the way it works. See this screenshot of the relevant lines on my on-board invoice from my last cruise, on which I bought more CND's. You can see that they charge you for both, initially, then issue the OBC offsetting the cost of one of them. It really can't be any simpler, but people see "get $250 OBC when you buy two" and they get confused.
  16. On the Joy in March at least one of the comedians made it a point to inform parents of young-looking people that the show they were in was intended as 18+ or adult-oriented. One was sitting in the front row prior to the show and stayed, one walked in during the set and was walking to the front of the theater (come on, people!) and they had a much younger person with them than the one that was already sitting, they were convinced to turn around and walk out - BY THE PERFORMER. There was apparently no checking at the door by any staff...
  17. If you want more conversation on the topic, it was hashed out in this previous thread -
  18. I'm trying to figure out who you're replying to with the rest of your post not making much sense. The post quotes got swapped somehow.
  19. The only non-refundable OBC that can be used to pay for CruiseNext is the credit you get from the BOGO promo for the CruiseNext purchase.
  20. If you set the filters properly on the website you can see the rate one person would pay for a double-occupancy room, right within the cruise search. It's not really difficult to do a proper comparison of the fares, unlike on some other lines where you have to actually get into the booking process to get the single-occupancy rates. That said, @trbarton - if the rate is good enough, you might be able to swing an upgrade. You may have to pay a little more to get upgraded (so, maybe to a balcony instead) as a result of price decreases as I think you need to go to a higher-priced cabin. Keep in mind that any cabin upgrade or credit for fare reduction will be a ONE TIME adjustment. Once you get one you're done with those.
  21. Yeah, I seem to recall someone saying the Breakaway is being used to pilot Starlink for new internet service on NCL. Royal is already rolling it out to their fleet.
  22. There is LOTS of discussion of all of this in the East Coast departures forum section - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/317-east-coast-departures/
  23. For me the luggage tag holders are about more than just protecting the paper tags but also about making sure they remain on the bag. On my first cruise every tag external to my checked bag was torn off, including a normal ID tag that had survived plane trips. I didn't get my bag until I went to guest services at 9:30 at night and found it. I now have luggage tag holders with cable loops to secure them to the bag (and a metal grommet in the plastic), in 4 subsequent cruises I haven't lost a tag. CHEAP insurance, IMO...
  24. So because they didn't specifically tell you that's what they were doing they aren't allowed to do it? Staying extra time in port costs the cruise line money - they need to pay for shoreside people to support the ship being there, plus fees for just occupying the space at the pier (like feeding a parking meter) - so it seems to make sense that if a port was missed any extra port fees and taxes collected for that port would end up covering a longer stay in another port.
  25. Has NCL EVER asked you for more money for port fees and taxes because they under-estimated what each passenger's responsibility was supposed to be?
