Am I going mad? I have just tried again and again been told you cannot use the OBC from the Experience More package until you are on board. Aargh…….

My travel agent rang today and they have said the same to her. They said I have already got the Experience More package. I have added it to my basket online. Should I delete it and ring again?

I have just rang customer services to purchase an Experience More Indulgence package but have been told I can’t use the OBC within it to book excursions until we are on board. I was also told that if I waited to buy this until we are onboard that I would get loyalty discount on it which I don’t think you do? So frustrating…...

Apologies for butting in on this thread. I have just done this and on this application it shows my profile as preview whilst on the Azamara site I have the correct level. This is probably why the 20% loyalty discount isn’t showing on the latest double quarterly savings. Any suggestions on how to get this corrected please? Thanks.

Thank you. I found your summary very interesting. Of the included wines, you mentioned 40 which I think was the silver package. What champagnes does this include and does it include Whispering Angel? Such a shame that the drinks upgrade requires both to participate. It appears very unfair when one drinks and one does not.

Thank you Phil. you can now use BA companion vouchers on Iberia. What I am going to do is cancel my companion voucher summer European flights and then use the vouchers for the Panama Canal trip and hopefully get business or at least premium. I am going to take out the new Barclaycard avios card and may manage to use that for my summer Europe flights. You get an upgrade voucher so you book one cabin and can upgrade to the next. Either way, Miami ans Panama will be a better use of this year’s vouchers! Thanks for your help

Thanks Phil, much appreciated. That was something I became aware of when looking at flights for the cruise starting in Panama using Iberia via Madrid. The 3rd December trip starts from Miami so that would be London to Miami I think, then Panama vi Madrid home. Or, would you fly via Madrid for that? I’m intending to use companion vouchers 🤞. As an aside, I’m just looking at the new Avios Barclaycard. Do you know whether you can use in the same year? Companion vouchers with Amex and then cabin upgrade with Barclaycard on different flights? I also need to decide whether to wait until onboard at Xmas to book or get prices now. Thanks very much.

That is really helpful, thank you. Ooh…. Might be a possibility! Do need independent flights though as have BA companion vouchers to use. Is there a loyalty scheme for number of bookings, etc or nothing at all. I like the sound of everyone’s equal. We have shied away from anywhere where there is a tier system.

We are considering a Viking cruise next winter. What is niggling me is the priority given for boarding, booking excursions, etc dependent on how much you have spent for a cabin. I can’t see many TA’s which handle Viking either and we wouldn’t want air with them. The ship looks beautiful but these things are holding me back.

Our TA rang them a month before final payment for a price for an upgrade and we got an excellent price to upgrade which was significantly less than the current price. There were only 4 suites left at that point. The original price we paid for a veranda plus was also less than what they are now. So, I would say, it’s always worth an ask!

Azamara have changed the itineraries for the South Africa cruises for this season. Maputo and East London have been removed on the cruises which featured these ports and dates have been rejigged for the remaining ports. For instance, on the 21st December, we now have Richard’s Bay for a day and a half but it’s Xmas Day and the 26th which is not ideal - actually it’s appalling. So, we’ve lost a port day completely in this itinerary and left the key Kwa-Zulu port, Richard’s Bay possibly useless as it is Xmas Day. The email states it is down to feedback. I do understand feedback is likely to have been negative particularly as Maputo was only until 3pm anyway which hardly allows for independent exploration and East London isn’t a great port and had been changed to Kynsna for some dates. They have announced these changes at the same time as balance payments for many which leaves a nasty taste in the mouth quite frankly. On top of this, the Azamazing evening is no longer the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra on New Year’s Day which we thought was very special and is now in Port Elizabeth. I think Port Elizabeth may have hosted this previously and I wondered if anyone can remember what it was or indeed attended one please? Port fees for ports no longer being visited - will we be refunded for these? Anna Nicole raised this on the roll call, thanks.
