  1. I asked The Google Machine about Thai vs. Indonesian food. Here's what I got. Very interesting. With approximately 6,000 populated islands and more than 300 ethnic groups, the food in Indonesia is extremely diverse, based on religion, region, culture and season. There is an infinite number of versions of home cooked indigenous dishes, with ethnic contributions of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Dutch, Portuguese, Arab, Muslim and Hindu etc. Popular is Javanese, Sumatran, Balinese. Compared to Thai, Indonesian cuisine is more complex, has stronger flavors, earthy, more fried, braised, heavy, spicy and served often at room temperature. Prominent ingredients are a large variety of herbs, use of similar local ingredients like citrus, coconut, palm sugar fermented fish/shrimp paste and sweet soy sauce. On our next trip I plan to ask the restaurant Maitre'd whose cooking and their nationality. Then ask for their native speciality.
  2. Excellent query. I agree, a good burger is a thing of beauty. I'd go straight to the restaurant maitre'd and ask what the possibilities might be. Keep us posted.
  3. Copenhagen can be a zoo. Of course you could probably say that about any airport these days. It's good that you have multiple flights after yours. We got stymied there by a line of 200+ people going through immigration. Chaos. After 45 minutes and still 75 people back, they called our flight and we were able to jump to the head of the line and catch our flight. The folks who were around the corner in line probably didn't hear the call. I'm still with @FlyerTalker. Give me a guaranteed seat on the safer flight.
  4. You also make a good point! Let us not forget the doctor on board that makes house calls. 😁
  5. If I may interject something to consider for future bookings - Although airlines have different rules for minimum connection times we have our own. Depending on the airport, time of day, history of on time departure, and number of similar flights after: For domestic, we like at least an hour, 2 is better. International, at least 2 hours, 3 is better. It's not worth the stress and missed connections.
  6. If you catch Covid at the grocery store you are not quarantined to your bedroom by local officials with a little table outside your door for meals. 🤣
  7. SLSD - we have returned to Norway, Iceland and Greenland numerous times. Each time has been different and wonderful. What a wonderful place to spend time in the summer! Enjoy! Now if we can only get this darn high pressure system to dissipate.
  8. Can't wait for details on this taste test. Sign me up for the side gig. I think there is a raspberry muddle in my future. A little lemon juice, simple syrup, gin, and a splash of some sparkly stuff. Thanks for the inspiration. The Blue Turtle Gin stll haunts me. Well perhaps drinking it whilst floating about the South Pacific is what haunts me. I emailed the maker and they hope to have an agreement to export to the U.S. by next year. Hope spring eternal.
  9. As always @FlyerTalkergives great advice. When checking in we always make sure our bags have the final destination on the luggage tag.
  10. I'm with you my friend. Just gotta stay ahead of the curve.
  11. I was thinking the same thing about the trend line. The last years trading range looks like a flag. If it breaks out, 7%. But I have a hard time seeing that happen. Pretty crazy the the economy functioned at those high rates. My first mortgage was quoted at 16%. By the time I closed it was under 14%.
  12. What will all the candle makers do? From Anthem by Ayn Rand.
  13. Given the movement after the Fitch downgrade thought folks might find this long term chart of the 10 year interesting.
  14. Just ask when you are on board if SS will host one. Or host one yourself. You may start a trend.
  15. Yes, we ordered from room service. It was not horrible, and it was pizza. Looking forward to the new room service menu. Pizza if ordered from one of the restaurants can be decent if served bubbling hot. Cold congealed cheese is not my favorite.
  16. Excellent and interesting recap. Thanks for taking the time. They not going to get this: If they opt for this:
  17. M - You're killing me with all the scrumptious food posts.😁
  18. You dont want a night tour of Guyaquil. On our visit last November they canceled all tours and highly discouraged anyone from leaving the ship. You might google what's going on.
  19. What a fun exercise. Thanks. But I agree with JPH. I think at a minimum you need to double the room charge. In the U.S if you're in a city, you might get a Holiday Inn if you're lucky. Ritz, MO, FS, start at $800ish for a closet.
