  1. Really? In and Out fries last trip were nicely put "limp". Burger yesterday at Mast was thick and tasty as usual with onion rings included. We have chains we like but they cannot take me to Europe. PS favorite lunch is a Carne asada burrito for two for $10. Tanias 33 in Tucson.
  2. Need to look at food overall. Texas Roadhouse has great tender beef - that is tenderize. Every restaurant chain has an excellent special dish. The challenge for cruise ships is to feed 2500 people in 3 hours with some dozens of entrees. Is the food up to the increased prices? Hmm. Our local $7.99 lunch special is $13.99. Add 9% tax and a tip and it is a $20 bill. So yes if you look at the overall picture things on board are pretty good. Plus want another piece of halibut - just ask. Try that at home.
  3. On APEX is a menu. Cold cuts, cheeses, fruit or a mixed plate all served promptly in Tuscan. Blu and Luminae both far busier. Probably because of wider selection.
  4. They removed a paperclip holding the zipper pulls together on an undershoulder purse and took DW wallet. London. A good pickpocket can take pretty much anything they want. Zipper, button, velcro are simply challenges to them. Thus I leave mine on board unless required to carry ashore.
  5. Saying, I don't like my cabin. You need to move me to a better location. Have heard exactly that
  6. Well educators are fighting back. Some local professors are scanning student essays into computers that look for syntax and phrasing that matches AI and other previously published work. With AI the rule is garbage in and garbage out. Evidently it is not hard to sort student vs AI or plagiarism.
  7. The executive office emailed me that Celebrity had banned the use of plastic beverage containers being sold onboard. Obviously there are some food items only in plastic. And that passengers were permitted to bring a 12pk of "sodas" in plastic bottles. Thus are plastic bottles banned? No, but we know sodas are all in cans as is water with specialty water and liquor in glass bottles if from X. And thus, you can take your 2 12pks of Cherry Coke on board at embarkation- preferably in carry on baggage.
  8. You can bring a 12pk on board at embarkation if you like. Best with your carryon stuff and drop at your cabin.
  9. The wife was given a choice. Take the body off at Puerto Rico - which is part of the US! - or have a less than desirable situation on board with storage. Puerto Rico would have cleared everything within 48 hours. The newspaper article has at least some of the facts wrong. Unfortunate. The mistake Celebrity made was giving her the choice. We do not and will not know exactly what she was told And for $39 where I live you can sue anyone for anything.
  10. Remember Celebrity does not sell insurance. They offer a very minimal policy from an outside insurance company. There are excellent insurance agents that specialize in trip insurance. FWIW it actually is to the benefit of insurance companies to fairly settle claims because not doing so creates a very bad reputation and eventually falling sales and profits. The issue today is a huge lack of agents to handle claims. You are correct the company you mention is excellent as is the insurance store. Last,, someone suggested Medicare will cover accidents/care outside the US. It ONLY covers if you are indirect transit from the US to Alaska or in a couple locations where a Canadian facility is closer than one in the US. Point Roberts WA is one of these as it has only a visiting doctor once or twice a week and Canada a hospital 5 miles away. Medicare Advantage plans ofen DO COVER outside the US. The only issue is you pay first and they reimburse. Thus could be difficult if bills were substantial.
  11. About 10 years ago we got an insulated mug when we bought a coffee with Kailua that the would refill on an Antarctic cruise. Wonder where it is today.
  12. Absolutely agree. Am "only" 2201 point to the next level. Took 24 years to get 799. So . . . .
  13. Shore excursions booked through Celebrity are vetted that the tour operator has experience and insurance. I fell goingvdown stairs in Panama. Was shaken and dazed. The operator had a first aid kit and tended to a couple small cuts. Took an extensive report and offered to take me to get medical attention - which I declined. My concern and that of others is while Celebrity has no legal liability while you are on a shore excursion, it does seem strange tour operators are not required to notify Celebrity of any injury in order to monitor the condition of the injured party AND to record if there is a problem with the tour operator. Not having a basic first aid kit would be problem #1.
  14. FWIW- I have always gotten either a phone call OR email reply within a day or two at most from the staff at the executive office. Clear answers.
  15. Hmmmm. The OP feels they did not purchase a cruise with a separate land tour but the two as one package that could not be separated. Then angry because he did not understand the FBC is completely separate again. I think we all agree that there are some dozen cruise companies the go to Alaska beside Celebrity. At least two at exactly the same time frame. The OP simply said the alternate dates were not acceptable and was refunded his $$. The OP made the choice not to do a land tour on his own, book an almost identical land tour and cruise with another operator and maintains his anger and frustration. Sad the title is incorrect.
  16. Clear your cache. If that fails uninstall and reinstall the app. Not unusual. There are probably one or two threads a week about the app. Also might try your cleaner/repair software. PS - I am logged in for our upcoming cruise and on mine no activities, menus etc. Nada. PS - You are on the website. Download the app. It might work to do your check in.
  17. Confused. You fly to Venice and are taking a shuttle to the city and your hotel booked by your TA? Then what? FLIX Bus to Ravenna or shuttle back to airport and X shuttle or X shuttle from where? The regular shuttle from Venice Airport leaves pretty much every 30 minutes to the bus area near the train station. Really no reservations needed.
  18. The best price on a drink package is via a TA who has a group block of cabins. I usually pay the cruise only rate on the X website and GET AI at no extra cost. If you only drink a bit of wine bring 2 bottles on a boarding per person and just pour in your cabin. You can also bring a 12pk of sodas. Elite in Captain's Club you get few drinks 5-7.
  19. When did the charge become small? The OP simply needs to give laundry to the cabin steward either the evening of day 1 or morning of day 2 and explain the upcoming wedding. And don't put anything delicate in the laundry.
  20. Celebrity coverage is very limited. We call Steve at the Insurance Store. Lots of discussion at the insurance Forum. Suggest you will get info there.
  21. I arrive with a piece of masking tape with my cabin number written in sharpie stuck to my bag. Won't tear. Porters sometimes add a string tag. Sometimes not.
  22. Since you are more than a month out it is likely they have not started to process bids. Way early to get anything accepted as they are still selling cabins. My TA is able to sell out ofctheir group block until 3 weeks out.
  23. I NEVER EVER take mine. A friend lost theirs in Spain. Had to stay until they got a replacement at the consulate. Why would you need a passport on a shore excursion. You have a government ID- usually drivers license - your seapass. I also do take a copy of my health insurance card. Why would a photocopy or picture in a phone not be enough? If your passport was required the ship would get it to the authorities. Have never been asked for a passport when on a ship's excursion - even in Russia and China. Russia does require passport AND visa if you go off on your own. Very different.
