  1. Had this sort of thing happen in Murano(a restaurant on Celebrity) Absolute horrid table. Rude & obnoxious.(not drunk, just low lifes) My spouse spoke up & said knock it off. Once he spoke up others then chimed in.The thing to do is you get the table number & report the time & place to guest services. They then look it up & warn the pax to knock it off. It seemed to work, as we saw them again & they were much more subdued.I mean this was bad. These people were referring to all Catholic Priests as molesters(and worse) Referring to people from Maine as dirt poor as church mice etc. We're from NH & these pax were from Massachusetts. My spouse asked them if they were from Lowell/Lawrence/ or perhaps Chicopee. That seemed to shut them down pretty fast.
  2. NO kettles. Too much of a hazard. If it's that much of a disadvantage, perhaps stick with Viking. Most cruiselines do not offer kettles. British lines such as Saga usually do, but fewer & fewer these days.
  3. We were at the front back in Jan. The ship hauled to get down to the ports & the "smashing" of the waves against the front of the ship was pretty bad. The first few nights resulted in poor sleep. Normally we'd be more midship, but this was a "guarantee" cabin.Thisw was our 5'th on Riviera & have Concierge coming this Jan. on the new Vista. The entertainment is always reasonable. The food IS the real entertainment. The line spends more per pax than any other line & it shows.
  4. A peasant would not be able to cruise on Oceania😁
  5. We tip on board over the daily gratuity. We don't tip for room service, as it';s part of what's included in your cruise. For those who may think that's cheap of us, we usually tip $100(or more) to our cabin attendants & staff that may interact with us frequently, such as having the same waitstaff frequently. I know it's anytime dining, but often we get seated in the same area of the GD & have the same staff.
  6. Is that the same as a Cabana reserve? If so that's what we booked in '25
  7. I'll give Crooners a thumbs up. It's also a good spot to people watch, as the Pax stroll by.
  8. So just how is the food? As we're foodies that's a big one for us & sorry the specialties & suite dining are pretty lame for the cost of admission on Princess. Having done the Ultimate Balcony dinner, we know what Princess is capable of providing. The New ships coming now have special restaurants for Reserve & full suites. That will determine how much we switch to or not to Princess.
  9. Well, yeah if you just do inside cabins. Sure you can enjoy your endless announcements/smoke filled casino/pay $3+ for soft drinks & water/enjoy truly mediocre food/ have worthless art sales/cheap trashy trinkets for sale in the "sidewalk" sales etc. or you can(yes) spend a little more & get far better food/free soft drinks & water/all free restaurants(except where wine is paired with the food) & just an overall more classy feel. We do both lines, but prefer Oceania. We are booked in a Cabana Reserve cabin in 2025 on the new Sun Princess. We do find most new pax we've met as of late were those who have tired of Princess cutbacks & are now trying something new.If the New class of ships is to our liking we may do more Princess cruises in the future. I do like the fact that those in Reserve & the full suites ewill get their own restaurants.
  10. Yes, but all the extras on Princess are standard on Oceania. So it's not really that more expensive.
  11. These are warm water Lobster tails, not the ones from Maine. They are god, but not a delicacy like New England Lobster. Go on Oceania & the cold water ones are free. No extra charge for extras.
  12. Beef Wellington? You won't see this on a ship unless I cook it.
  13. Well, we're foodies. The Riviera was outstanding with it's refurbishment. If I were to not recommend any food it would be the following: Oysters Rockefeller(awful!) Wiener Schnitzel(too tough) Suckling Pig. (really just over cooked Pork belly) other than that the only thing we noticed was the smaller portion size. That was noticeable. Unlike other lines O will always give you more. What we really disliked was the "Save the Oceans" crap. This was a way to shorten the cruise this past Jan. We weren't alone in seeing that. All it really did was slow the ship after the second day, so you arrived in port about 11AM. The result did save a lot of fuel, at the expense of port time & a missed port as well.
  14. Book a reserve cabin & not have this problem.
  15. Normally don't do the casinos on Princess. We don't like the smoking that's still allowed.
  16. If you get a chance try the Tea Service on Oceania.
  17. Yeah, ya do. Do it as soon as you board or ya miss out. "nuff said".(10 points who said that line, or wrote it)
  18. Had rain on our Hawaii trip. So it became an indoor dinner. The double rainbow was great, but it never stopped raining. Food was outstanding. Overall food in dining room was pretty poor. For those of us in suites & Club Class this is the type of food that should be available nightly.(ultimate Balcony quality)most nights we ordered off the Crown Grill menu. Being offered "Spaghetti & Meatballs" as the night "special" is pretty lame.
  19. It's daily, but as Flatbush & others have said it appears near the end of your trip.
  20. We never book excursions ahead of time. Seeing the issues here, I think it's good reason to wait.
  21. You certainly could also be a bit more polite if you chose to educate yourself.Yes, I'm aware it's a holding company. I don't need your high entitled opinion to debase me. I find you at times to be quite nasty to others on this site. I will give you credit however exposing that one person who tried to use other posters actual experiences as his own.Do try to be a little nicer, though.
  22. A little late but so what. 2018 was our first O cruise. Since then we've done a total of 4 so far.(all on Riviera) We're foodies so that was the main reason. We find the Pax as a whole older(but we're getting there, too) Entertainment is fair to a times quite good, especially the music acts. The food really is the entertainment. The Riviera has always been elegant & very well maintained. We loved the conversion of the bathrooms & redo of the cabins. Food quality has stayed mostly consistent. No line hits it out of the park every night. Main thing is portions have shrunk. They will always give you more if you wish. Overall attention to detail pretty much has changed little. We did a Hawaii trip on Princess in 2020.There were obviously some covid cases(these were passed off as Flu) We do tend to switch a bit with Princess based on cruise length & region. We are booked in 2025 on the new Sun Princess. Just want to try a new ship. We'll be on Vista next Jan.health permitting. I have Kidney issues that could scrap both 2024 & 2025(depends on transplant)
  23. The most drunk Pax we've ever seen were on Princess. Not seen any one really drunk on O. That certainly doesn't mean there are none. I drink wine & an occasional mixed drink. My spouse really doesn't drink at all. When seeing how many Pax say we drink to unwind. Really? On a cruise ship? You should be pretty unwound just being on board. We've done large ships & find many just don't have that attention to detail the smaller ones can have.
  24. As it shortened port stays, we didn't like it. All it did was have the ship travel more slowly. Yes it cut down on fuel consumption resulting in less cruise time.
  25. Love the staff. The best on any line in our opinion. Always very friendly & genuinely caring about the pax.Overall the best run & most reasonably priced excursions & most choices, again in our opinion.I think the new Sphere level ships are definitely trying to up the game like Celebrity. If we like the Sun, we'll do more trips on Princess.
