  1. Then say something to the Maitre D. We do! If that is ignored we'll go to guest services.
  2. Just show up when you like(during posted dining times)The 6:30-7:30 times usually get quite busy. The new Sun will have it's own dedicated Reserve rest. Same goes for the suites.Hoipefully the food will be better than the main MDR's. Last time it really wasn't better in Club Class.
  3. You can do both, but Thrack is right that debit cards can be problematic. You generally need thousands in a debit account. As well as proper credit available on any credit card. It's amusing hearing the "Will Mr & Mrs. Jones please come to guest services"" frequently heard at the end of the cruise. You may wish to settle in cash at the end, but that means bring a lot of cash along. Not always an advisable thing to do.
  4. We do both. We'll use a TA if we feel they can be helpful & do our own if we think we get a better deal. We always book our own hotel & flights.
  5. We do the same as you. We cruise Oceania most often & they do remove items after 30 min.
  6. Most of the standard lines use the body wash stuff, dso we bring our own soap as well.
  7. Never buy anything from AARP. They've become more of a sham the last several years. Their life insurance/car insurance plans are bogus. You can do much better elsewhere. We get far more out of AAA than AARP. Will likely ancel them at renewal time.
  8. So you enjoyed the lounge more than you enjoyed your wife? LOL!
  9. Quality has stayed rather stable. There have been a few misses. Avoid the Oysters Rockefeller(awful!!) Avoid the suckling Pig. (really just hard as a rock Pork Belly) The Dover sole was some of the best I've ever had anywhere.(GDR)Jacques Salmon is always excellent. I got it a few times when the GDR menu didn't interest us. We're booked on the Vista for 12 nights in Jan.19(permitting my Kidney transplant does not occur near that time. I'm stable at the moment) The Jan.2023 cruise was nice, but disliked the skipping of ports & shortened stays at others. This "Save the Seas" is a load of crap. We hauled A$$ to get to the Caribbean & then putsed around at slow speed to save fuel. The excuse that there werte strong winds & rough seas was garbage. They did this to save money. If this happens again this time we'll drop O & go elsewhere. We're booked in 2025 on a trip on the new Sun Princess. We booked a "Cabana Reserve Mini Suite" We always disliked the food on Princess, but like the itineraries. The Suites & Reserve mini suites now will have their own private restaurants, so hopefully the food quality will be much better.
  10. What about those of us who booked last Jan.(2023) We only paid 500 on board. No plans on canceling, but I'm waiting on a possible Kidney transplant. So far I'm still fairly stable & hope not to need dialysis until well after the cruise. Obviously if a transplant comes along then the cruise is off & we have full coverage that cost about $1400
  11. Not much of a Hurricane was it??. The one in 1939 did far more damage. There was damage for sure with Hillary, but no where near the scope that the media would have had everyone believe.
  12. Had that happen with some guy a few years older than me. My spouse is really quick with comebacks & responded "Well if we see you fall overboard, we'll be sure to toss your a life ring...attached to the anchor". The guy stood there a second to ponder that one & then walked away without a word.
  13. My spouse had back problems for weeks after a Hawaiian trip. We both like really firm & Princess was like as someone said..Marshmallows.
  14. Yes. Some of us know how to be more generous than others. We're in the hospitality industry. We always tip over and above. We're talking about our attendant(and assistant)For the rest. we tip over & above if we have fixed seating. Otherwise we just leave the auto tip alone. If one removes the auto tip, they should not be cruising. To say I don't have enough is hogwash.
  15. On our last Princess cruise we did Club Class(now Reserve) Cabins were nice sized. Food quality in the "sectioned off" part of the main DR. was no better than the rest of the MDR. Being told the special(meaning only in Club Class)of the night was Spaghetti & Meatballs was really lame. Now we did do the Ultimate Balcony dinner(served inside due to rain) This was fantastic & shows what Princess can offer if they put their mind to it. We do have a Cabana Reserve cabin in 2025. Reserve & the Suites now get their "own" dining rooms. I certainly hope that the quality is better for the price we will be paying.
  16. Not all goes to the housekeeping . & restaurant staff. Some goes to laundry as well as the people who cook our meals. The waitstaff & room attendants do get the majority as you interact more directly with them. There is a book(waiting for new ones to come ou) called the "Berlitz Guide to cruise ships & cruising" It's sometimes called the "cruisers bible". Virtually all questions on nearly everything cruising can be found here.
  17. Try saying to an American: "What time should I knock you up in the morning? Most of us will take it the wrong way! A Brat is a shortened term for Bratwurst.
  18. No.2.Plenty of geriatrics on large ships as well.OnOceania the ships have a 1 to 1.5 staff ratio. Not a lot of teetotalers on Oceania as well. The line has high priced quality drinks & pax buy them.Try to get a huge ship into a small port.
  19. The bar staff only share in the bar tips.
  20. WE did one from San Diego. One of the last before the pandemic shut all down. Bring some warmer clothes for the first 3 days. It was very cool. My spouse had the Sanctuary all to himself as it was too cold & windy for most(including me) He just relaxed to the spa music all wrapped in blankets. It was a bit rough. I had Dramamine, but overall I was fine. Keith could sleep through the worst like you see in youtube videos of everything flying back & forth.Hawaii was great. Visit the Mauna Loa Macadamia factory on the big island. For some reason tons went to the local Costco for the crazy varieties of Spam.Give Keith Taylor Ham & he's happy. Do take in the Arizona memorial & bring tissues. You'll need them during the video you will see. Numerous excursions are to be had. Also don't pass up hiring a cab to go on tours.
  21. I wear sketchers often. Some look like nice casual shoes, but way more comfortable. Crocs? Disgusting. My opinion & I'll stick with it.
  22. Yes. I neve figured that fashion statement out.
  23. Thev only thing I would say is try wearing sneakers that don't stand out.Try to get something that "goes" with your outfit rather than sneakers that shout "Look at me".(referring to the sneakers, not the person)
