  1. Portion sizes at the restaurants I've been to around Sydney have been shrinking so I am kind of assuming that the same is happening onboard. Probably not a bad thing since I have a tendency to overindulge on holidays!
  2. I have heard that. But I worry about coming across as being a bit greedy ordering 2 mains for myself since my partner isn't a fan of shellfish.
  3. What I am looking forward to: Meals prepared by someone else Washing up done by someone else Drinks made by someone else What might shock me: how small portion sizes have become. Just came back from a work lunch at a 'gastropub' and paid $19.50 for 2 tiny pieces of chicken schnitzel and $15 for a small glass of wine!
  4. I've been sending these 'sale' emails straight to the bin. Maybe they think we don't know how to math.
  5. Yes I was very shocked to see that $1,800 price tag from Qantas. I understand that they have 2 years of lost revenue to try and make up for but it still feels like price gouging to me.
  6. Sydney to Brisbane return on Virgin Australia (forgot about Virgin Atlantic so I can see the confusion there!)
  7. I've watched a few ship tour videos on YouTube and it is tempting to book their MerMaiden cruise...
  8. Virgin is having a sale on J class flights for travel between 27 June 2022 - 13 April 2023. SYD - BNE for example was $600 return. Qantas is charging approx $1,800 for a similar flight (and they sometimes throw in lost luggage as an added bonus!)
  9. It's ridiculous. I could bring 4 bottles of Dom Perignon onboard and it would still be cheaper than their drinks package.
  10. That price is ridiculous. Hoping to pick up a decent Black Friday sale on drink package for our Dec cruise otherwise we will BYO wine. nel in Sydney has a similar concept to Wonderland and prices look to be much and much the same. Jamies seem rather expensive for a non fancy restaurant.
  11. How dressy do you have to be for Chef's Table? We're sailing on Quantum in December and I'm considering doing it for my birthday.
  12. Both my partner and I downloaded the app and uploaded both our details. We figured we'll use one for the actual booking and the other could be a backup in case the primary phone dies or something.
  13. I downloaded the app and it was easy enough to step up, taking an acceptable selfie took much longer! Our cruise isn't until June so I can't upload the vax certs until next week at the earliest. I noticed RC wasn't on the list so not sure what they are going to do about vax cert requirements when the time comes.
  14. Haha that's us too! Before I met my partner, I was used to paying for one person travelling at off peak season. School holiday pricing is a bit of a sticker shock!
  15. Really wished I knew then what I know now about super when I entered the workforce 20 years ago. Spent the last 7+ years playing catch up and am overall happy with my current super balance but have had quite a few 'if only' moments especially when I start thinking about the lost compounding. Worked for an aged care provider awhile back and the takeaway from that job was to aim for self funded retirement and not rely on the pension. Of course, that is assuming the pension will still be around when it's my time to retire...
  16. We're booked with RC for a Dec cruise and I've been told the ship will be sailing at 50% capacity. Looking at a P&O cruise for June and I've been told that will be a full capacity sailing.
