  1. The 1st and 3rd night out of Bergen on our way to Alta.
  2. On the Northern Lights cruise right now and as formernuke reported, I can count the number of jackets seen for dinner and such on my fingers. Snow pants... whole other thing. πŸ˜€
  3. On the Viking Venus as I type... For deck 4 we have the expected washer/dryer stack but with a new twist. The dryer door now has an integrated monitor and there is a PlayStation 6 wedged in between the washer/dryer stack. Great fun!
  4. So you agree that disparaging Viking here is not completely appropriate. You do seem to be holding Viking responsible for the Tripmate process.
  5. Pretty sure it is under the "Before You Go" tab. I would look there.
  6. You will be downgraded to steerage and will have to write 1000 times "We shall never ever miss our check-in again." 😁 It will take you a bit longer to check-in and board as Viking will need to collect and check your information. Should be no biggie.
  7. The "TV" is actually a monitor on a closed network. They are not bluetooth enabled and there is no ports accessible or meant to be accessed by the pax.
  8. HOP is a discount regional subsidiary of Air France. I have to think their arrival are at the same gates as all the other regional flights and will use the same baggage carousels.
  9. We have gone both ways, through Viking and DIY. The advantage of going with a pre or post extension handled by/through Viking is that they handle everything and you are under their support umbrella the whole time. When it fits it is typical the best way to go.
  10. My DW has stopped leaving her postcards with the desk on both the Ocean and River cruises. While never failing to post them, the worst result has been that they don't get posted until the ship returns to a "Home" port, the beginning or end port. She has the best luck where we've sought out an actual post office and mailed from there. In short, I think your best result will be to seek out an actual post office or something like a "UPS Store" that will pack things up and ship it for you.
  11. We never seem to have enough space to unpack everything. What are we doing wrong? 😁
  12. I found them to be very high quality! πŸ˜€ I'm kidding of course. They weren't a pair of Swarovski ELs, but they were better than average.
  13. Wait! They're not the only ones welcomed? Well that explains all the accents! 😁
  14. Speaking of spelling... you mean MVJ in your topic title, right? πŸ™‚
  15. What thoroughly entertains me is those that insist on knowing every detail as to why something like a port of call was changed or dropped. What is knowing the why going to change? "Torstein, Haq here... I don't agree with these changes you made to YOUR cruise. I insist you change it back to what I want before I drag you on social media and never sail with Viking again." Seriously, what does knowing the why help and in knowing what do you think you can change? Not meant to pick on or rile anyone up.
  16. I've discussed the topic of early reservations with both quest services and the restaurant front of house. Both were quick to bring up how many and how often these early reservations get canceled or change once folks are on board. As has been said already, we too have never had trouble getting what we wanted once on board and for the restaurants we don't even worry about it until we sail.
  17. I would say comparing the QM2, even now with Conard owned by Carnival, to Viking Ocean is something of a apple to an orange. I don't see them as being in the same market or targeting the same clientèle. We love Viking and sail them almost exclusively, BUT! The TA we did on the QM2 in 2016 was most memorable and provided the nostalgic ocean liner experience we sought. Look ma top of the world! 😊
  18. Yes but with a long selfy-stick and the wife holding you by the ankles, you can probably photograph around that. 😁 5007 is going to be starboard side and a few more cabins forward. That spotlight is likely to be right outside your window.
  19. Seen this to be the case on Movie nights as well.
  20. One on the wall opposite the door. There is also a small bench/ledge opposite the plumbing.
  21. Yes, they have always provided this upon request and usually will ask if you want Jameson or Bailey's Cream.
  22. Certainly you are free to further pursue this... But myself would suspect that staff have been directed, if not contractually prohibited to discuss such things and by asking them about it your putting them in a rather tough position. As such the answer you might get might not be as full a disclosure as you might think it is or take it for. Ultimately simply adding to the hearsay we already are hearing. Cheers
  23. I'm sure the use of the word "fortunate" is dependent on exactly how close you live to EWR. 😁
  24. Tennessee whiskey is as you say bourbon but there is a specific difference. The key difference between the two types of whiskey is that Tennessee Whiskey must be filtered through maple charcoal before being put into the barrel for aging. Kentucky Bourbon goes straight to the barrel.
  25. Understood to be a new feature of the Viking Air service.
