  1. Sombody said someone on one of the current sailing reported seeing an Italian Mastiff in Manfredi's. It was determined that it was allowed as the dog was wearing a collared dress shirt, pressed kaki chinos and a beautiful pair of Italian leather loafers. Discuss... 😗
  2. What? Way more expensive than that for us in the states. Airfare and around 6 hours flight time minimum! 😋
  3. You asking me? We have been sailing Viking for eight years plus and we've never been served anything but real orange juice. As to the pool deck roof... January in the Artic Circle, thankfully the roof was kept closed. 😁
  4. Was just on the Venus at the end of January. Vodka was Smirnoff Red, gin was Beefeater. Had our selection adjusted to just gin and vodka. There originally was Bacardi rum and a whisky (Scotch) brand I wasn't familiar with. It was a blend and not a single malt for sure. 😊 If you want good stuff in your stateroom you'll want to bring your own bottle(s).
  5. I suspect that if any of us expressed too much objection to Ms Hagen having her dog onboard she might just boot us off her ship! 😁
  6. Want to tag onto this @Iloveketo question, my question to @YWW is... did you quarantine as is usual for Viking? Was Viking enforcing their 5 nights quarantine period after testing positive?
  7. Was on the Venus in January/February and I was not able to find a menu that had been updated. Interesting, we were consistently charged the menu price. 🤔
  8. Honestly, we don't remember it being that demanding. We do recall a good bit of walking but also an equal amount of stopping to visit a site and thus get a bit of rest. Might want to ask if there is a "Leisure Group" to get into. Typically a little slower paced group. When in Prague these days we tend to venture out on our own. Beautiful city! 😍
  9. Why does this feel like the ultimate goal here is to define what cruise lines are "Luxury" solely to use "I’ve sailed or sail on such and such" for bragging rights. So often it feels like what is left unspoken is "Sailing on such-and-such such cruise line reminds me so much of our 'by invitation only' country club." Just my observation...
  10. So where in the US do you live? Your profile appears to indicate you live in Canada.
  11. When worn in combination with a on backwards ball cap... yes! 😁
  12. These days I wouldn't agree to a less than 2-hour connection window. However, we went through FRA in February and made to our connection gate in 50min. It is hit and miss.
  13. Day 0 is followed by Night 0. So if Day 0 is Sunday, Monday night is Night 1 and so on. You have not served your "5 nights" time until Saturday morning. This is simply another example of how Americans and Europeans differ. Yet another is how the floors of buildings are numbered. What is our (American) 2nd floor is the 1st floor in Europe. The Europeans use ground floor where Americans use 1st floor to refer to what is physically the building's ground floor. In the end... sorry you got sick and your holiday was disrupted. Cheers
  14. Or perhaps that was the issue, they had missed too many demonstrations? 🤣
  15. I'm sure he removes his cap when he is urinating. Otherwise it would get drenched! 🤭
  16. Tipping the bucket? PFFT! You must dump that sucka in its entirety so as to get the full invigorating effect. WOOH BUDDY, Now I'm awake! 😊
  17. While they do need reasonably calm seas and at least one volunteer... they do try to schedule a live keelhauling demonstration at least once a cruise. A real opportunity to experience what being at sea once was. I am kidding here! 😆
  18. Your overweight luggage charges must be massive! 🙂
  19. As a start towards correcting this classless behavior, I wish these offenders would at least loosen their ball cap as it seems it has restricted the blood flow to their brains to the point that they constantly forget to tuck in their shirt tail where the shirt is clearly tailored to be tucked. Sorry... something of a sore spot as I've had my ears boxed too many times. 🙂
  20. Only where used between 12 midnight and 6:00am 😊
  21. What information are you looking for? "V" staterooms are all located on and only located on deck 3. V1 staterooms are at the front of deck 3 and V2 staterooms are located at the back of deck 3. All but 2 of the remaining staterooms on deck 3 are all DV6 staterooms. Those last 2 are DV1 staterooms located aft, between the 2 Explorer Suites, all with aft-facing balconies. The only physical difference between all of these "V1/V2" and "DV6" staterooms on deck 3 is if they are located on the port (left) side or the starboard (right) side of the ship and if the stateroom is a left or right hand layout. Again, physically, there is no difference between a "V" and "DV" stateroom. Aside from that physical differences I've started above, the only difference between a DV6 and a DV1 stateroom is it's location on the ship. Hope this helps.
  22. Just came off the Viking Venus and I purposefully checked out the provided binoculars. They are perfectly fine compact binoculars. Probably 4X20s, so not alot of reach but reasonably bright and sharp. Not a pair of 8X42 field glasses but not the trash some are suggesting Viking is providing.
  23. Agree with CDNPolar, I don't like to do less than a 1hr 30 layover in either Frankfurt or Munich. 2-2.5 is my sweet spot, where I feel I can comfortably make it through border control and to my connection gate. Also agree that both these airports are nice and easy to navigate (although a slog to and from the Z gates) with good amenities to occupy a long layover.
  24. Agree with this. We didn't bring snow boots and did not need them. Even on the more adventurous excursions, you really won't be trudging across the tundra. Our waterproof hiking mid-high shoes worked great. The real important thing is a merino wool baselayer and Windproof/Waterproof parka and pants.
  25. Which shipboard bar is this as I just ordered drinks in the EL and was asked for my stateroom #. Or is Viking just not charging it to the account, as it is with a regular SSP tab?
