  1. I was able to book a B2B out of Port Canaveral on the Sky for Feb, 2026. Very dull itineraries, but the short drive to PC and decent pricing convinced me.
  2. Calabaza is far better than Silver Moon, IMO, but the timing won’t work for them either. They pick up at the port @ 8:45. OP, try Cool Runnings. Not luxury like Calabaza, but a fun day. Not sure about their timing, it might work for you.
  3. Here's mine - 5 or so years old, has the jumper cables, which I have used several times. I don't know what kind of battery it is, I just recharge in the wall as mentioned. Measures 7" x 3.5" X 1", size of a paperback book. No air compressor, but I have seen the newer ones advertised recently, which do have that feature. Maybe a bit bigger, don't know. Jumper cables plug into it under the little white cap (loosened for photo) , probably also where an air compressor hose would plug in. Oh, and a light on the opposite end.
  4. This is the one I mentioned a few posts back. Made by HALO. You can get basic one for about $100, but if you live in a storm prone area, you can get a better model with USB, regular plug (so you can make coffee or plug in a lamp) and even an air compressor for flat tires. Amazon and QVC have them. I charge it up in the house a few times a year, it holds a charge very well.
  5. It is a very common issue, especially with newer model cars. Dealers will tell you not to go longer than 7 days without starting, but I have gone 12 days with a new Lexus. That said, when parking for a cruise, I do have a portable jump starter charger in the car, just in case. HALO makes a nice small one for around $100 . The issue is all the background computer programs, which keep running, even though the car is turned off. This allows the lights to turn on and doors to unlock when you walk up to the car, for example That background running does drain the battery after a time Your aggravation may help someone in the future, though. I never knew there was a traveling battery guy. Very industrious on his part. Thanks for posting.
  6. According to TripAdvisor, it is rated 49th of 616 hotels in San Juan,. There are over 1000 reviews of the place there. You could also check Hotels.com for reviews.
  7. @WriterOnDeck and @Btimmer, just a musing while you both are here...Yum Yum man, great swag gifts, extra enrichment talks - all to be expected and enjoyed on your Grand Voyages. As one who has booked a Legendary Voyage (Amazon, 2025), I wonder if we will see some (I'm sure not all) of the nice extras. Might an experienced Activity Director or Future Cruise Consultant on board have a speculation? Or, another cruiser from earlier Legendary Voyages? Apologies for the thread drift, but I wanted the opportunity to talk to a crowd more experienced in the longer sailings.
  8. Look closer, it came from FaceBook, and as such, needs careful, in person verification, and lots of skepticism.
  9. Here is the Caribbean port of call board. Each island has it's own page. Just spend a little time scrolling and reading, and you will get lots of ideas. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/456-caribbean/ Look under Roll Call for your sailing, and you can chat with others on the same trip.
  10. Perhaps you could ask on the roll calls for a few sailings around now. Sometimes people are happy to check on that type of thing and report back. Look for a sailing with the same ship and itinerary as yours, and ask nicely for someone to check on time changes. A few captains do stay on ship (not local) time, usually on short trips, and if the change is only for one day. Too much trouble for pax, crew, etc to change.
  11. If you want to be out on the water, suggest a glass bottom boat / Nylon Pool excursion. On my last trip to Tobago, I went independently to Pigeon Point beach, and I do remember that it was small, and quite rustic. However, while there, we joined a small glass bottom boat trip out to the Nylon Pool leaving from the PP beach, and it was great. We stopped out in the sandbar for a swim, and saw plenty of fish and coral reef from the boat. My beach sitting / sun worshipping days are behind me, so next trip, I have booked a ship excursion that does the boat and pool, as far as I know, provides no beach sitting time. This is on Holland America, but I would bet all the lines have something similar. Its a bit of a drive to the beach, so you will see a some of the island on the way there and back.
  12. Here are 3 very recent threads about Constellation. Sue is leaving in a week or so for the Holidays, according to her social media.
  13. I have used them several times, it is the only way to go, IMO. The wait time is very short (minutes ?) - they bring all the departing cars over to the pickup area on the day your ship comes back. When you go to the desk, the runner has a very short way to go to bring it back to you.
  14. Spots will free up in the port parking garage as people depart the ship on Friday. Just plan to arrive early to grab one. Airport parking will remain full no doubt until Sunday.
  15. LOL, I guess you did not see this recent post. @DaveOKC is exactly right, leave the ship early and barring ship, port, or airport issues, you will be fine.
  16. Looks like the new mayor is tired of being denigrated by some here on Cruise Critic, putting a lot of effort into tourism. https://newsday.co.tt/2023/11/15/port-of-spain-mayor-says-cruise-passengers-are-safe/
  17. OP is not going to agree with you, based on his/her post, but I sure do.
  18. I just got an email from Celebrity with some "Selects" - that's what they call their last minute deals. There were dates offered in late November and early December. This particular offering was for several short 4 - 5 day trips from Ft Lauderdale, which do not interest me, so I cannot comment on whether or not the pricing was attractive. Your best bet would to be to sign up for promotional emails from all the lines that interest you, that way if they are offering any last minute deals, you'll get a notice. Princess also used to send them, called "Drop and Go", but I have not gotten them in some time.
  19. You could always make a picnic out of Publix's grab and go or deli section and sit out at Jetty Park with the campers and locals. All ships will pass you just before they head out to sea. It always seems like a fun group when I have seen them from onboard. At Grills, you will just be looking at the aft of whatever Royal Caribbean giant is docked at CT1
  20. My initial thought was that this was a post made simply meant to stir things up, and I stick to that assessment. It's a week later, OP has not returned, but there are 3 pages of comments. S/he has succeeded.
  21. It is very safe. Puerto Plata takes their tourism seriously. The extra "police" people see in town, at street crossings, etc. are actually a special tourism squad, there to assist, not shoot. Plus, almost all the mainstream lines have stops now in PP, with the two purpose build cruise ship hubs - Taino Bay and Amber Cove. It baffles me why people would think it unsafe.
  22. I think the poster was responding to my (incorrect) naming of the giant cream puff. Still not sure what it is called, but you can just point.
