  1. Good deal. What hotel? Have just booked cruise package at Hol Inn Eastleigh for 19 night cruise in May at £314 on my own. (My usual Holiday Inn Southampton fully booked for a conference.)
  2. Not necessarily. With select booking you have the option to choose cabin or let P&O choose it for you.
  3. Iona has water filling stations so if you take some water bottles and, say, some fruit squash you can make your own soft drinks.
  4. Exactly, with fixed dining I know what time I am going to be eating and can plan my evening.
  5. You can always move tables if necessary but I have only had to do that on a handful of times in over 70 cruises (I must be lucky!).
  6. He won Dancing on Ice too. Most of the Limelight acts are ex TV talent shows!
  7. Agree absolutely. Have dodgy knees and hate low seating!
  8. The £1 box of Tesco own brand is better!
  9. The only reason I pay more for Select is to choose second sitting shared table. Not important to some but it is to me as a solo traveller. Have made good friends from dining companions.
  10. Club dining on P&O is fixed time, two sittings.
  11. All ships. Iona and Arvia have no club dining
  12. No prawn cocktail on Arcadia at Xmas. Just unpleasant caesar salad every night. However, Xmas dinner featured a king prawn starter which was lovely.
  13. On Iona there were handbags which cost more than I paid for my cruise!
  14. Simple solution for me - only cruise on ships with fixed dining. More civilised, stress free, sociable and no queuing. Happy to pay more for this.
  15. Prawn cocktail appears to be replaced by Caesar salad now.
  16. It has replaced the prawn cocktail, which is a shame.
  17. Buskers seem to be popular on P&O lately. Same repertoire every day and far too loud!
  18. Looked at new brochure on Arcadia at Xmas and it still mentioned StP on Baltic cruises!
  19. Seems to be mainly people who previously appeared on shows like X Factor, BGT, etc (Gareth Gates, Ray Quinn, Sara Bailey, Matt Cardle)
  20. I have travelled solo for 20 years including over 70 cruises. Yes, I have seen the occasional instance of anti social behaviour but nothing bad enough to stop me continuing to enjoy my travelling. That's life. It looks like time to end this debate as it is getting a bit personal and achieving nothing.
