  1. You inferred that it was dock workers who were at fault. It started with Carnival employees who picked up the luggage outside the cabin in the first place. There is 100% proof that a Carnival employee started the process. Nobody knows what happened afterwards. It might possibly have been a dock workers fault, but then again it could have been a Carnival employee or possibly another passenger.
  2. Since when do dock workers come into the ship to collect luggage that is placed outside your cabin to go into the numbered holding area? That would be Carnival employees doing this job.
  3. She was one of the original card carrying members of the me generation.
  4. Thanks Greg for answering the age old question for us as to why the chicken crossed the road.
  5. We're at 3.69 and I will assume Jeff pays more since he's in Central Jersey.
  6. You could do a taste comparison with the cafecito at the Havana Bar on the Celebration.
  7. I will infer that many people just like to chill on their balcony, read a good book, watch the waves go by and be dressed however they like while doing all of this. Others prefer to be out and about and doing things. There are no right or wrong answers, it's all personal preference as to how we like to vacation.
  8. So, it seems like you're confused by the options. Has your drink of choice today been a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa? 😉
  9. That's why they make vanilla and chocolate. I'll cruise substantially more often in an inside cabin than less times in a balcony. The few times I have sailed in a balcony was just OK and not worth the extra money to me, which can vary greatly depending upon which cruise line, ship and sailing date. I'll take the money saved and spend it on peripheral items such as Cheers on Carnival or Vibe passes on NCL.
  10. With everybody, including myself that puts carnival down for all of their cutbacks and misgivings, you have to give them props when they deserve it and this was a nice upgrade on the MG. When we went it was on Saturday night, the first night, but I believe it has been pushed back to Sunday, which would make sense to alleviate some of the numbers that go to the MDR for lobster on night two.
  11. AARP also carries cards for Celebrity and princess as well. The Princess ones have less restrictions than the Celebrity ones.
  12. Would love to be a fly on the wall when he asks his sister why she waited 13 hours after seeing him leave the bar to report him missing. Still can't see him surviving up to 22 hours in the water possibly initially drunk and with no floatation device.
  13. Have 47 cruises under my belt over the past 36 years on multiple lines. Over 40 of them have been in an inside cabin, primarily chosen because of price. Currently have 15 more booked over the next 17 months with 14 in an inside and a free upgrade to a balcony on a 14 day Alaskan cruise on the other. That'll make 90+% in inside cabins.
  14. With the example given, the difference is over 30% more for the balcony cabin. It's 580.00 difference. The couple who chose the inside cabin could scrape up another 1000 and could do a B2B. Choosing to cruise in an inside cabin enables many to cruise more often. Would you want two cruises in a balcony or three in an inside?
  15. Luckily we'll be on the Celebrity Beyond over Thanksgiving next year on day 2 of our B2B. It's a sea day and I'm sure their buffet, which is a major step above the other mass market lines will more than likely be carving turkey at lunch time since their lunch time buffet includes grilled to order options on a daily basis.
  16. No, they need to beat Iran. Iran beat Wales today 2-0. The US will advance with a win and will finish as the second seed in group B behind England unless they beat Iran by 5 goals. Since they have scored only 1 goal in their two games, that is highly unlikely.
  17. Cruise on the Excel Class and go to Pig n Anchor which is included and enjoy the Filet Mignon, which is one of the daily specials. Better than the downgraded strip loin that is offered in the MDR and at the sea day brunch.
  18. Your comparisons don't hold much water. First of all, you can't compare the POA with any other ship because nothing compares to it. It's the only ship that is American flagged so the crew is primarily American and is paid like we are with OT and such. Because of this their labor costs are in a different stratosphere compared to their competitors that cruise to Hawaii. I say cruise to because all of their competitors cruise to Hawaii, whether that be from the mainland or from Alaska after the season ends in October. The POA cruises around the islands year round so you're comparing an apple to an orange. I don't put all of my eggs in one basket so I am loyal to a single line. About half of my cruises have been on Carnival, but we currently have cruises reserved on RCI, NCL, MSC, Celebrity and Princess as well as 5 on the Celebration.
  19. Since you decided on the nighttime flight out of FLL, a day use hotel could be a good option. Dayuse.com and other similar sites can hook you up with hotel options and pricing.
  20. I wouldn't worry. Charleston is a secondary port and the part time employees checking you in probably don't follow all of the rules to a T. Things vary from port to port. If you're scheduled to leave the hotel at 1030, you may not get to the ship till close to 1100, only a half hour early. Worst case is that you stand around for 20-30 minutes, best case is you embark slightly early.
