  1. Princess should reclassify the Cabana Suites with the tall glass barriers as Obstructed Cabana Suites. Yeah, you can see through them, but they're tinted and you can't stick your arms out like a regular height balcony barrier.
  2. The quasi outdoor area in the Cabana category look really cheap. It's like Princess wanted to copy Celebrity's Infinity Verandah's, but fell short. Floors looks unfinished. The wood panels look really cheap and don't belong; the panels look rustic, which contrasts with the modern design of the cabin. Also, not sure why the sofas in the cabins look puckered on a brand new ship.
  3. The verbiage below appears in the Travel Summary for passengers from the US and Canada. You're at Princess' mercy when you book a cruise.
  4. Creating a sense of urgency to book. Desperate for bookings much?
  5. On some ships, the Lido Grill (not all are called Salty Dog) hands out numbers on swatches of paper, which are called out when orders are ready. Some ships hand out pagers that vibrate when orders are ready. On the Enchanted Princess this fall, servers weren't assigned to the Salty Dog Grill between dinner and close and you had to tick your own order on a menu paper. Granted, It wasn't really busy at these hours.
  6. The App only shows cruises post Medallion release. If one really wanted to keep track, why not archive Booking Confirmation e-mails in a separate folder or save Travel Summaries as PDFS on to a flash drive or your own cloud drive? Heck, I have paper cruise documents in banker boxes from all the cruises I've taken since the 1990s and early 2000s. Still think it's a waste of server space and App memory.
  7. In his current life, he’s a YouTube personality that share’s royal recipes from his tenure as chef for QEII’s family.
  8. What purpose does having past cruises show up on the App serve? Is this the only way for IT to correct loyalty that is showing up as incorrect? Seems like a waste of memory on the App servers.
  9. New update puts a green check mark ✅ by all 7 steps of check-in without having to populate shoreside account details. In other words, Shoreside tab under Payment Methods is now optional and can be left blank.
  10. The e-mail is a generic one sent to all and should stop being sent because JourneyView is related to the Medallion App, which Princess wants to obsolete. When this e-mail is sent, it usually means that a tentative daily schedule (not all encompassing, the final schedule will populate once connected to MedallionNet) has been uploaded to the App and you're free to start bookmarking events. In your case it sounds like the schedule hasn't been loaded yet. Again, failure on Princess' part on using complicated terminology. JourneyView is almost an obsolete term because that was the terminology used on the old Medallion App. On the ship, the paper schedule left in the cabin is called the "Event Listings." The new Princess Cruises App calls the schedule "Ship Schedule." Princess should call the schedule "Event Listings" on the App and use "My Journey" as the tab to show what you've bookmarked.
  11. Once onboard, can people on the sailings up to May report if the Sun Princess is really sold out or if Princess has blocked cabins? My CVP encouraged me to take advantage of special Drop and Go savings last November. At one point lowest interior on the 02/08, 02/18, and 02/28 sailings were $676. Though about it but passed. Glad I did. There were still plenty of cabins available for these sailings around the first week of December and all of a sudden the availability disappeared and the cruises showed as Sold Out.
  12. Don't quote me. Like I said I'm only repeating what I can remember overhearing from a FC Consultant explaining to someone else... Once you reach 50% payment of the package, the FCC portion of the package becomes available for use and can be applied to new cruise bookings. Everything else goes live once full payment on the package is complete. So if Buddy paid 50% of the package, yes, theoretically he could have used the FCC to book a cruise, and still be making payments on the package. This is assuming I overheard the details correctly.
  13. I think this should be prefaced by saying that these interior suites are part of the Yacht Club and they're only slightly larger (I think a couple of sq meters, but not by much) than a regular interior cabin. People don't want larger cabins but the perks of the Yacht Club on a budget.
  14. Princess Promotions can be purchased in installments. I'm only repeating what I heard one of the Future Cruise Consultants said to a potential taker last cruise, so don't quote me...The packages can put but on a monthly installment plan. A minimum of 25% down and monthly payments after. After you reach 50% of the total due, you can use the FCC part towards a cruise and the rest of the "benefits" will follow upon full payment. The thought going through my head, "Yikes! Why are they this desperate?"
  15. I like the Majestic Princess because of the Asian Noodle Bar and Hollywood Conservatory. I think the Noodle Bar is a great alternative to Lido pizza. I've never paid for The Sanctuary usage, so I thought the free use covered Hollywood Conservatory was great. It can get crowded during scenic cruising days. You have to pass the Hollywood Pool to get to the Conservatory and the chlorine smell can be overwhelming to some, but it dissipates as when you reach the Conservatory. The Double Down bar is a nice place for quiet. When we on last June, it wasn't used in the evening as an event venue--no live music. It was formerly the VIP area for the Casino. Other differences with Royal Class ships: No Crooners Sabatini's is replaced with Harmony, which is Chinese fusion food. Some speak highly of the food and others not so much. There is no aft pool. Signage is in both English and Mandarin. Getting out of the Theatre on Deck 7 is a problem when the shops are closed because there is a port side door that leads into shops which is closed when the shops are closed. It creates unnecessary congestion. Lots of disappointment with Iceland and Greenland lately due to weather and ships not being able to dock. Iceland has an active volcano which when active can also prevent the ship from calling. Was fortunate to have gone to both, Iceland with a Norway cruise and Greenland with a Canada cruise. Our friends have tried to go to Iceland twice on a cruise and no dice, cancelled due to weather.
  16. Balconies come with a premium in fare and bring in more revenue, which is why cruise lines want more of them on their ships. If interiors were more popular, it would be good for cruise lines because they would always sell out and passengers would have to book into a higher category. What I did think was a bonehead design move was eliminating the Ocean View categories on the early Royal Class builds and not having enough of them on the later Royal Class builds. The fare structure on these ships is really messed up, as compared to Grand Class ships, as the Obstructed Balcony categories are the only buffer between Interior and Balcony. Early on in the life of Royal Class ships, I booked IA guarantees. IA is a really popular location category because it is midship. ~75% of the time I would get an upgrade to an Obstructed Balcony or Balcony. Pretty sure Princess caught on a because it stopped after a few years and Princess simplified the BW/DW category by not designating location differences.
  17. On Royal Class ships, the sideways interior cabins are for sure bigger. On the deck plans below from the Princess website, sideways ones are on average 175 sq. ft. and the regular ones are on average only 166 sq ft.
  18. Happened to our friends with the Plus Fare in January on the Emerald. They ordered specialty coffees on disembarkation morning at ~7:30 am and the charges showed on their folio. They had to go to GS to get the charges cleared which delayed our personal disembarkation by 15 minutes because of the line. I'm drawn to the last bullet point in the screenshot above if Princess is enforcing the daily cutoff as 6:00 am. Princess might need the extra cash to fix their IT problems...I jest. Below is another thread from last year.
  19. Only 1 FCD can be applied per person on a booking, you can't stack up on them. Otherwise, people would be purchasing FCDs like crazy to cover the cost of their cruise and get the associated OBC with a multiplier. You state that you want a refundable deposit. If you don't, the making the booking might just give you the lowest rate with a non-refundable deposit. You can verify by checking the penalty schedule on the Booking Confirmation sent to you. For refundable deposits, the penalties should start the day after final payment. Once applied to a booking, the FCD is treated like cash and will be refunded back to your credit card. You forfeit the FCD and it cannot be applied to other bookings. It's a good idea to have purchase extra FCD and have them banked in your Captain's Circle Account. If, for example, the price drops on a cruise but the rate requires applies only to new bookings, you can cancel the existing booking and make a new booking with the FCD that is banked. Princess is very generous with their refundable deposit policy as compared to other cruise lines. Please don't abuse it.
  20. The choice is personal as with many things cruising. There are some who spend very little time in their cabins and see their cabins only as a place to sleep, as place to store their belongings, and as a place to practice hygiene. These people are usually very active on the ship and in port. Pricing on cruises fluctuates depending on a variety of factors. At one interval in time the price difference between inside and balcony might be thousands of dollars, which is the usually the case for longer cruises. I've seen some Drop and Go rates where a balcony is cheaper than an interior because there was more balcony availability than interior. Up to the cruiser to decide as to how best to spend their money and decide if the tradeoffs, if they see any, are worth it.
  21. Could be worse. All the more reason to purchase good travel insurance.
  22. Didn’t say it was you. There was another poster who suggested discretely hiring an attorney. Trying to quell that idea. The title says “shame on you, Princess.” Don’t really see what the shame is for.
  23. I go out of my way to not fly American because I have choices where I live. I can understand the disappointment of others who don't have other options. Given the dirt cheap prices I've paid on my EZAir flights, I'm OK with the change if/when other airlines adopt this policy. The airlines make very little money off of the fares I've paid through EZAir. For all we know, AA's plan could backfire as Delta's did when they decided to change the way fliers accrued milage.
  24. Since the incident happened the night before disembarkation, the ship's staff did the OP a favor by producing the medical records STAT. Unfortunately, having the escort wait for 3 hours in the cold with them wasn't an option either. And the OP stated that at the time, ponying up extra cash to leave early didn't occur to them.
  25. The more people write about this, the more this is sounds like a cash grab. When one cruises, one agrees to the passage contract which pretty much waives all passenger rights and puts them at the mercy of the cruise line. Even if this were to go to court, Princess mandates all litigation would have to happen in LA County, California. Medical records were produced by the ship staff. The matter should be taken up with the insurance provider to make the person financially whole again. It was the choice of the ill to sit and wait in the cold for 3 hours for a ride.
