  1. Funny. I am hopeful you win and get to go on those long cruises!
  2. Thanks for the report and enjoy your cruise. Carnival said they were stepping up security, which I view as a positive.
  3. We sailed the Horizon in July 2022 and loved the ship. I second the recommendation to get a Havana cabin - even a Havana interior gives you access to quiet outdoor space reserved exclusively for Havana guests. We did mostly specialty dining and had no issues with the food.
  4. $1,750 plus tip, for a total of $2,065. I thought about not booking one, but after cruising MG without one in December, I found I just enjoy the cruise so much more when we have the cabana and Loft 19 access.
  5. Copied and pasted for reference: "Here is the link that I used to actually book one. I have to be logged in for it to work. https://www.carnival.com/cabana/loft-19-cabana-HB2" Used this link today to book a Loft 19 Cabana for our March 26 cruise on the Celebration. We have had No. 12 twice on the MG and loved it, as you have a wind break behind you (it is the bar for the Loft 19 area; no guest access) and can easily see whether others are in the "aquarium", so we booked that one again. I do agree that No. 5 is a good pick as well, as it is more private.
  6. Yes, it is the entire area - not just the cabanas. Once they get to know you, they don't even need your room key.
  7. If you make your way up to Loft 19, they will bring your drinks to you!
  8. There is a code that was posted on cc, but I have not seen them offer anything other than the full week for purchase before the cruise. If there any open on your cruise, they will rent those for the day.
  9. Sid, I have been busy at work but made it in at 376. Finished my binge this evening, secure in knowing you had a great cruise and survived that dreaded first week back. Thanks for an entertaining and amusing trip report. I had a ton of fun reading it!
  10. We got a free bottle of wine on the Mardi Gras on 12/31/22. Also had the drink package so gave the bottle to our neighbors at dinner.
  11. Not that I know of. We cruised Carnival five times last year, and four of the five were Elite or premier cruises. The only exception was the NYE cruise on the MG, and on that cruise, the casino was always packed.
  12. About the only reasons to pick Vista it would be if you plan to have a Havana cabin and utilize that area, or if you prefer smaller or older ships. The cabins and bathrooms may be slightly larger. You might pick the MG because of its multiple dining options (many are new and included in your fare), the new specialty restaurants (both Emeril's and Rudi's are worth a visit on every sailing), the new design and updated decor, the Grand Atrium, the variety of entertainment (up to six comedy shows most days; different shows and entertainers in the Grand Atrium and the theaters), various new bars (many have live music in the late afternoon or evenings), the Loft 19 area (if in an Excel suite or purchase a cabana), the great layout of the casino where the main area with the casino host stand and cage are non-smoking), the expansive Serenity area, the roller coaster or just to try something new. To me, it is not even a close call. MG all the way.
  13. Agreed. I call my PVP and he does his best to get me the new deal. But generally, I have to have a new deal for him to move it to. One time I was charged a cancellation fee (changed ship and dates), all the others he was able to just do it. And you can always check with your PVP to see what an upgrade would cost if you don't have any other deals.
  14. Are they planning to bring back late night dining options? We are currently limited to the pizza place and I would enjoy having another venue open, even if it was grab and go.
  15. Sorry you got injured - that sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
  16. Any thoughts of adding more options into dining reservation system on the app? Say I want a booth or a table by the window, it would be nice to specify that or choose first available.
  17. Celebration gets my vote. Love the Horizon but a newer ship, extra day, and new ports would win.
  18. Trying again. when do they expect to be back at full staff? Is this the new normal?
  19. When do they expect to be back to full staff? If this the new normal?
  20. Just trying to be helpful and offer you some encouragement. Sorry you couldn't relate to the analogy.
  21. In January 2022, I was supposed to be in one balcony with a grand, and my daughter was supposed to be in the balcony next door with my then 21 year old grand. The grand in my room got COVID, so she and her mom were no shows. The 21 y/o and I checked in together for our separate rooms, and were asked if the others were coming and we said no. Was not a problem and the 21 y/o and I truly enjoyed having our own side by side balconies! This was on Royal, but thought I would give you some encouragement. Have a great cruise!
  22. I love how these threads always turn into the predictable few trying to educate us on the value of the old muster drills. Doesn't matter that those were extremely crowded, uncomfortable, and often hard to hear or see. Instead we should volunteer to give up our vacation time to stand around for 30 minutes to an hour, often times in full sun, waiting for the late comers and putting up with the intoxicated. Then avoid being trampled when thousands of people are dismissed at the same time. Sounds like a great way to start off a vacation. It is not my job to train the crew. My responsibility is to put on my life jacket and make it to my muster station. Carnival and its crew can take it from there.
