  1. Try looking for hotels in the Blue. Lagoon area of Miami near Miami International Airport. Prices are more affordable and reasonable there. There are also places nearby for last minute essentials along with some decent food establishments. A short twenty minute Uber ride over to the Port of Miami.
  2. Rent a vehicle in Cape Canaveral for the minimum twenty four hour time period. Drive back to Orlando and either purchase a hotel day pass or head over to Disney Sorings and spend a few hours there. Have a late lunch and then head over to MCO to return the rental vehicle and then check in for your flight home.
  3. Haven't been there in months but the last time I went the food was still very good. Still miss the old location.
  4. Larry's Limos are recommended by many Cruise Critic posters including myself. Call them for a price quote. They can handle any transportation needs in the South Florida area.
  5. Taverna Opa in Hollywood Beach on A1A has excellent Greek food very close to Margaritaville.
  6. If you're heading to Miami I like Garcias for seafood on the River, Versailles or La Carretta for Cuban on Calle Ocho and Perricones for Italian in downtown Miami.
  7. Drive over to Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. If you like Italian you have to try Louie Bossi's. Busy place with a great bar and great Italian food. Reservations are a good idea, especially for dinner. Also in the same area on Las Olas, American Social, Tuscan Grille, Big City Tavern and Rocco's Tacos. Aruba Beach Cafe in Lauderdale By The Sea is another great place right on the beach for lunch or dinner. If you decide to drive north JB's On The Beach and the Whale's Rib In Deerfield Beach are also great. The Whales Rib is casual seafood and sandwiches and JB's is a little more upscale.
  8. The cabs line up on the top floor of the Rental Car Center. When you exit the building you will see the free shuttle buses that transport passengers over to Miami International Airport. Make a right turn and you will see the cabs lined up waiting for passengers.
  9. Definitely get a price quote from Larry's Limos. Great service and reasonably priced. Recommended by many Cruise Critic posters.
  10. The ride from Port Canaveral to Miami Beach is around four hours plus taking into consideration traffic and the usual accidents on Interstate 95. If you're going to spend the rest of your vacation in South Florida cancel the Monday flight from MCO and rebook a flight home from either Miami. Fort Lauderdale or even West Palm Beach.
  11. At the conclusion of your cruise hire a shuttle service to take you back to Orlando instead of leaving the rental at a parking garage while your on your cruise.
  12. Are you looking to park the rental vehicle at an off site parking garage while your on your cruise?
  13. Rent a vehicle when you arrive at MCO. Drive over to Cape Canaveral and check in to your hotel. On Monday morning use the rental vehicle and drop off luggage, friends and relatives at Port Canaveral. Then return the rental vehicle at the office in Cape Canaveral and either hop on the free shuttle or Uber back over to Port Canaveral.' to meet up with your friends and family. At the conclusion of your cruise pick up your rental vehicle for the return trip back to MCO. On Saturday return the rental vehicle at MCO and check in for your flight home.
  14. Eddie Hills has excellent sushi. It's located in Hallandale Beach Florida which is approximately thirty minutes north of downtown Miami on Federal Highway.(US1) They have all types of sushi, ramen, Japanese food, etc.If you're renting a vehicle it's worth the trip. It's a small place that gets very busy, especially at dinner time. Been going there for over twenty five years.
  15. There are four large parking garages on A1A in Hollywood Beach. There are located at A1A and Harrison Street, Johnson Street, Connecticut Street and Nebraska Street. Parking on weekends is four dollars per hour. You have to walk over to either Margaritaville or Nick's Bar for a drink.
  16. Most hotels in Fort Lauderdale area have free shuttle service from FLL to the individual hotels. Shuttle service from hotels to Port Everglades is fee based per person charges.
  17. Garcias on the New River has excellent seafood. If you're craving Italian I love Perricones. If your into Cuban I love Versailles or La Carretta on Calle Ocho. Versailles is touristy but I like the food. It's a busy place but it's Miami at its best.
  18. Taxi fare from FLL to Port Everglades is around twenty dollars plus tip for the short fifteen minute ride. Once you arrive at the entrance gate security guards ask to see your passport or other identification documents before they allow you entry into the port.
  19. Once off of the Auto Train in Sanford I would hop in my car and drive the four hours down to Fort Lauderdale. Check into a hotel, have a nice dinner and get to bed early. Wake up on embarkation day refreshed and ready for your cruise.
  20. It's easier for me to leave my family at Port Canaveral with our luggage and hop on the shuttle by myself. I head over to pick up the rental vehicle and then return to Port Canaveral to pick up my family. One time some family members grabbed a cab because they had an early flight leaving from MCO. I normally stay a few extra days and head south to Hallandale Beach Florida where I have a condo.
  21. All rental car offices are crazy busy on cruise turnaround days. My family of three usually wait at the shuttle parking spot and wait for the shuttles to arrive. I have watched a few heated arguments turn into pushing and shoving matches. On one occasion approximately ten years ago we rented from Budget. The two shuttle buses operated by Budget were super busy. A Hertz shuttle bus arrived and the driver informed the Budget drivers he was only waiting for two families and he offered to help with transportation back to the Budget rental office. The Hertz driver received a nice tip for allowing us on his shuttle bus.
  22. Anytime after 10:00AM most passengers from the last week's cruises have left the parking garages and are on there way home. The will be plenty of spaces available.
  23. The best location for all your last minute needs is the Publix Supermarket located in the Harbor Shops in Fort Lauderdale. It's located just east of US 1 on 17th Street. If you need to purchase wine there's a Total Wine in the same shopping complex. You can place an order online and it will be ready for you when you arrive.
  24. Holland America caters to an older demographic. It's possible that your son could possibly be the only minor onboard the ship on your sailing. Norwegian I know should have more younger passengers onboard. In a situation like this I would cruise Norwegian on this sailing.
