  1. Holland America caters to an older demographic. It's possible that your son could possibly be the only minor onboard the ship on your sailing. Norwegian I know should have more younger passengers onboard. In a situation like this I would cruise Norwegian on this sailing.
  2. Check Larry's Limos for a price quote. Otherwise, a cab, Uber or Lyft will do the trick.
  3. I have never seen a post regarding shuttle service from the Tampa Bay Area over to Port Canaveral. I would research local transportation companies for options. Otherwise a rental company should be a reasonable way to get over to the east coast.
  4. Take Amtrak one day before embarkation and stay in a midtown Manhattan for one night. Check in at the hotel, drop off your bags and take a walk and find someplace to have dinner. Have a good nights sleep and wake up refreshed and ready for your cruise.
  5. I would definitely stay two nights in the Miami area prior to your cruise. That way you pad in some extra time in case there are weather related issues traveling from Montreal and Miami.
  6. The downtown Miami locations are very small and very busy on cruise turnaround days. Be prepared to wait a while at there facility for your rental vehicle.
  7. Book your flights now. The closer you wait in most cases the fares only go up.
  8. Cortrans and Cruise Control Shuttle are recommended by many Cruise Critic posters.
  9. Rent a vehicle for the minimum twenty four hours and store your luggage in the trunk of the rental. When it's time to head over to FLL drop off the rental at the Rental Car Center and head over to the correct terminal for your flight home. There is also a luggage storage facility at FLL but every time I have walked past it it was never open. The luggage storage facility is located in Terminal Two.
  10. Uber, Lyft or a cab will be fine for the thirty minute plus ride from the Port Of Miami over to FLL. Make sure to figure for a departure out of FLL after 12 noon.
  11. Margaritaville Resort on Hollywood Beach is a beautiful but pricey hotel right on the beach. As for prices it really makes a difference regarding time of the year. December thru April is usually the highest rates and June, July, August and September are the most reasonable.
  12. Duffys Sport's Bar off of 17th Street in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has NFL Network games shown on it's television screens.
  13. If you are dropping off a rental vehicle at FLL there are no companies that provide free shuttle service over to Port Everglades. Normally a cab will provide you with the service for around twenty dollars plus tip for the short fifteen minute ride. At the conclusion of your cruise grab a cab, Uber or Lyft for the short ride over to FLL. Personally, I normally rent from either Budget or Thifty which are owned by the same company.
  14. I have never heard of parking at Port Everglades ever selling out. If you arrive at the port anytime after 10:00AM most passengers from the last weeks sailings have all ready left the facility and are on there way home. If you arrive after 1:00PM there's still plenty of parking but your vehicle may end up on the top floor of the facility and exposed to the weather.
  15. The Hotel Dello is located on Federal Highway in Dania Beach, Florida. It's located just south of Hollywood Fort Lauderdale International Airport. It's located in a mostly residential area. There's a small strip mall on Federal Highway that has Jaxson's Restaurant which is a burger joint that also has the best ice cream in South Florida. There's also Pauli's Pizza and Italian Restaurant located in the same mall. All his food is homemade and he's a friendly guy. Grampas Restaurant is across the street from the strip mall. They are known for their breakfast menu and they also have a bakery. They were featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive In's and Dives. I'm pretty sure that there only open for breakfast and lunch. Everything else decent in the area you would need Uber or Lyft.
  16. Larry's Limos are recommended by many Cruise Critic posters including myself. Call them for a price quote.I have used them a few times and was always satisfied with their service.
  17. Rent a vehicle for the minimum twenty four hour time period from FLL. Store your luggage in the rental vehicle and decide what you want to do for the rest of the day. I would spend the day at either Fort Lauderdale Beach or Hollywood Beach. Last location would be South Beach in Miami Beach. For a 9:00PM flight from MIA I would return the rental at the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center around 6:00PM and take the free shuttle over to MIA.
  18. Uber, Lyft or a cab will be faster than using a shuttle service from the hotel over to Port Canaveral. A shared shuttle has to fill up before they leave for the short trip over to Port Canaveral. A private shuttle service will be just as good as a cab, Uber or Lyft.
  19. I wouldn't take a flight out of MCO until after twelve noon on disembarkation day. MCO is crazy busy on cruise turnaround days.If the other flights are later in the day I would either hangout at the airport and book the later flight or stay over one night and take the 10:30AM the next day.
  20. If you decide to stay in Lauderdale By The Sea make sure to stop for dinner and drinks at the Aruba Beach Cafe, located on Commercial Blvd next to the beach. Great food and great drinks. Just a nice, casual place to hangout.
  21. Check out the Riverside Hotel on Los Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. A beautiful hotel in downtown Fort Lauderdale surrounded by a few nice restaurants. A short fifteen minute drive over to Port Everglades.
  22. The casino on Dania Beach Blvd in Dania Beach, Florida now has a long term parking lot on their property that has a shuttle service over to Port Everglades. It's a short ten minute ride over to Port Everglades.
  23. Two one way rentals have to be cheaper than leaving your vehicle in a lot for fifty plus days.
  24. Uber, Lyft and a cab are readily available at the Miami International Airport Rental Car Center. Free shuttle service from the Rental Car Center to the Port of Miami were discontinued at the beginning of the Covid Pandemic and never returned.
  25. To my knowledge there is no pre paid parking available at the Port Of Miami. If you arrive any time after 10:00AM most passengers from the previous week's sailing have left the area and there will be plenty of parking spaces available in all the garages. I normally drop off family members and the luggage in front of the terminal and then leave my vehicle in the parking garage. Then take the short walk back to the terminal and meet up with my family.
