  1. @ronpes That looks like a great “shore excursion”! Which was your favorite? Was there one to be avoided?
  2. @rmsEtruria In Q5 there is only a tub with shower. You step into it, but there aren’t stairs. I have to hold onto the counter, which abuts the tub, when I exit the tub. It isn’t as difficult in and out as the Q4. If you look closely at the Q4 picture above you can see the lip of the shower is inches away from the bottom step. This is also just an issue I have with balance and height stemming from Jr. High P.E. and the balance beam. 😉
  3. @rmsEtruria There are steps up and then you have to step down into the deep tub. The tub is deeper than a Q5. There is a handle bar to grab hold of. On a side-note, I wanted to use the hand-held shower, and did, and ended up with water all the way to the toilet due to the rounded curve of the tub which funneled the water onto the floor. I didn’t use it after that. There is a really nice walk in shower with multiple jets.
  4. @TheOldBear The YouTube video I was referring to in post #38 is by Alex the historian. Given the importance it played in WWII I’m surprised it hasn’t received more support. The tour of the U.S.S Iowa is really nice. It would be nice if the 2 could be combined in some way. @fourmile.ranch How long did the tour take and how did you get to it from QE?
  5. @fourmile.ranch Have you watched Queen Mary at War by Alex something or other on YouTube? It is really good and has made me want to tour her. Thanks for the recommendation.
  6. Adding to @NE John…and wishing we were going along with you. Have a blast!
  7. I’ll be on the cruise with you and hoping we have clear skies to see the blue moon. Without looking up the lyrics so please no critics, just from memory of a few lines, “Blue Moon, you saw me standing alone, without a love of my own…” See you in the casino!
  8. @kmw350 I’m sorry there is confusion and of course I don’t know the real situation. I had the opposite situation for my last booking. The website said nothing was available, but when I actually chose specific cabin numbers they became available. I found 3 cabins, then I called Cunard and was told there were 7 available. I’d say, if you find the cabin you want on-line then book it and call Cunard to confirm. Good luck!
  9. @Victoria2 We were in Q4, 9060 on QM2 in July. I would never suggest getting into that jetted tub unless you’re an Olympic athlete! But, the jets in the large showers were very nice and there was a small platform where you could sit. Good balcony and bar and a full table with 4 chairs.
  10. Wondering what changes may occur due to Storm Hilary.
  11. @NE John Thanks for the link to the museum in Southampton! We’re doing a 19 day TA with 2 stops in Southampton. DH has already looked at the museum and added it to our itinerary. I assume we can get off the QM2, go to the museum, and then re-board. Hope all is well with you.
  12. @NE John Oh, he could retire now, but feels duty bound to see through some really tough times. If we were in the Commodore Club we could share a great glass of wine and tell you the story. I think your story must be pretty interesting also.
  13. I would be grateful if someone on the Vancouver to San Francisco leg would post the dress code for those 3 nights. We’re doing it next year and I’m thinking I may need to buy a new formal. 😉 We’ve never been on the QE and this 3 day jaunt is in preparation for a Panama Canal trip or from San Francisco to Sydney. But, I have to get the DH to retire and I heard him tell someone today “4 or 5 years” Argh!!
  14. @CoW mAn At no time have I suggested canceling the hotel booking. Our car was stolen, our car was broken into multiple times, I have not been physically harmed, but have avoided many situations where I could have been. We have had a couple of creepy experiences at the market over the years. I appreciate @SCX22 ‘s comment about waiting for something to happen. I avoid areas where I know there may be a problem. I look ahead and cross to the other side of the street if necessary. I don’t go places late at night or hang out where problems occur. The OP will be fine for 2 days if they use their heads and eyes. But, the area where they are staying is not the best location downtown. I answered the OP’s question. I hope you continue to safely visit Seattle.
  15. @CoW mAn I’m glad you’ve never felt unsafe in Seattle. I live very very near downtown, and have done my grocery shopping at the Market, ie. Pike, every weekend for 35 years. I have felt unsafe, specifically on 3rd. I wouldn’t recommend walking anyway near James and 3rd. They closed the 3rd street entrance to the court due to safety at this intersection and the park next to it. There was another shooting in Belltown this past week. People need to not be looking down at their phones, even if using a mapping app to find their way around. If they’re at a tourist site they’re safe.
  16. @Host Hattie An orange night? Really? You are joking correct?
  17. Sounds like it is the really big cargo ships being held up because they require so much water.
  18. I just read a post on the Oceania board about a huge backup, 150 ships, at the canal due to drought and lowering the water level. Rumor has it RCI and Princess are rerouting some of their ships. I have not confirmed any of this.
  19. @LHT28 Thanks for the link to the Riviera lists. Is it usual for the lists to be the same on all ships? We’ll be on the Regatta.
  20. We would love to see a current wine list. We believe the wine list on the Oceania website is out of date based upon examples such as: the latest Chardonnay vintage is 2017 and several are 2011. Who is selling 2011 Chardonnay? The latest Pinot Grigio is 2015. The latest American Pinot Noir is 2016. We’re trying to decide what to bring from our cellar for a cruise this September. Would love help as a first time Oceania cruiser who has purchased the Prestige Package. Many thanks.
  21. @ratflinger We also had 3 big suitcases, but then you also have the carry ons with pills and electronics and the one set of clothes just in case. It becomes an issue when you have to get it from port to airport in a car.
  22. So excited for you @Jack E Dawson. This sailing is on my bucket list so I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Enjoy PG!
  23. Can’t believe it - I got an actual mailing from Cunard today about the Labor Day Sale. I entered the website listed and it says sorry, it is closed for 2022. Oops!
