  1. They were cleaned in NZ also and I believe the Australian company meet the approval requirements and it was passed. The fouling is probably in Auckland already.
  2. NZ needs to decide if they want cruise ships or not and then provide rules that work. If a company is certified to clean the ship then it is upon them to meet the standards. I really can’t blame regent for this mess they are at the mercy of bureaucrats that do not see the real damage they are causing . How about the tour guides that are already just recovering from Covid and the the NZ govt dumps on them again.
  3. Gisborne is a nice little town but all there is to do is walk the shops as the offered no tours. At least the folks with missing luggage can finally resupply.
  4. Amazing how many people still haven’t received their luggage as Auckland airport is a mess. The NZ government doesn’t seem to be on top of their game. If I say what I really think my post will get pulled and it really is information people need to know before they invest $$$ in a cruise or trip here.
  5. Despite getting the ring the evening before we flew out all else was great. Block party threw the timing off a little, but I was able to adjust. Our waiter's name was perfect "Romeo" as was the service and the food. Our Butler, Vipin, served a tray with a rose and the box with the pendent. DW thought it was great and didn't expect much more second was delivered on queue. Then with dessert Vipin brought the ring for me to put on her finger and the brought a beautiful cake and the Maitre'd and a couple of our waiters sang "let me call you sweetheart." Regent did a great job!
  6. On explorer all Wildcard games on ch 21 and some will be broadcast in Explorer lounge. They will also record and playback next day.
  7. Explorer was granted temporary permission to enter tauranga so we get to see Hobbiton but we now depart at 3pm vs 4pm and need to finish cleaning resulting in missing next port Napier. Must have taken a call from del rio to the idiots in the NZ govt to make this happen (imho) hopefully it is smooth sailing from then on. Another letter is forth coming .
  8. I met with future cruise consultant on board and he set everthing up - even got us the same room for both legs. He said he will submit it and they will apply an additional B2B savings amount.
  9. I spoke with Butler - He is going to work on getting some - they had it in every store in Auckland, so worst case we can pick some up in our next port. They just posted a letter that they will be giving a $250 OBC PP for the lost port day. I still would like to know why these approved cleaning companies are falling short or is it overzealous NZ inspectors. The fact explorer (and a host of other ships) were in Auckland port presumably means that the fungus is already in NZ waters. Not sure what the end game is as far as NZ or what game they are playing.
  10. Ship looks lovely. Staff seems a little worn out and with another cancelled port they must be disappointed as well. Even though we requested red bull on the online form our suite as well as other items, I don't think anyone reads them. Our Butler hasn't found any so not sure if they didn't put onboard or ran out, either way DW not very happy.
  11. YES it seems. There must be something behind the scenes going on with inspectors - one clears it then another rejects it. Fungus doesn't grow that fast on a moving ship in 5 days and if it did it would be on every ship.
  12. And todays announcement NZ did another inspection and we need to be cleaned Again! Skipping bag of islands and offshore at the moment to be cleaned. Something is definitely afoul in NZ and I don’t thing is the marine fungus.
  13. Why does Regent keep sending out URGENT- safety video emails, When I have already watched it within 72 hrs of embarkation! Twice in fact - do their systems not register that? I click the box too!
  14. It’ll we usually book a ph b or an and so we will reprice a couple of cruises at concierge d prices. It would be nice if I could just keep the ph b price and upgrade to a named suite but I’m sure they have reasons as there aren’t that many of them
  15. Thank you waiting on the regent explorer to arrive on the 12th was hoping there wasn’t a berthing issue .
  16. Why is the Viking mars still in Auckland it was to dppart Jan 10th?
  17. currently booked on grandeur in June Istanbul to Athens. I booked on board and now this new 2 cat upgrade would be 5 K cheaper. Also looking at booking the following cruise Athens to Rome. Are there any pricing benefits to the BtB? I obviusly wont need the dual arifare and pre night on the second cruise and will the OBS be applied to the whole cruise since I haven't rebooked the first cruise (allowed one rebooking?) just curious what others have experienced.
  18. The actual immigration part was not an issue it was the customs lines for us. Flight was late landing at 930 we exited customs at 1115
  19. AA flight 35 dfw to akl in flagship lounge very nice ample Room they offered me flagship first dining being an EXP but we ate earlier with kids And grandkids. Just having some nice Champaign and wine for a couple Hours before the 1045 flight that will take 15 hours. A lot less chaotic than LAX or JFK
  20. I have all the above but the issue is streaming them.
  21. At least they had the option to get off. I probably would if I didn't have time to come back again. I would book a flight to Auckland from Adelaide and tour NZ on land and then catch may return home from Auckland that was already booked. For the price of the cruise, I'm sure they can live like royalty in NZ. For those on board and with time perhaps some can change their flights back and see new Zealand for an extra week.Or try to hope on the coral princess which also departs on Jan 12th out of auckland - not regent but might work if they have suites.
  22. true but can I link my phone to computer to the tv. But the streaming on the ship is slow and may not be allowed in certain locations.
  23. Probably stupid question but is there a way to watch these even later or on demand? 1923 and Tulsa king . Just curious as we are on over a month long cruise.
  24. Did the captain say how long the cleaning would take? Explorer must have 75000 SF of hull underwater. They say a diver can clean 2200-4400 SF per hour somewhere between 17 and 34 man hours depending on the fouling if I'm doing my math correctly. Not sure how big the crew doing the work is. Does anyone know how long the coral princess and Viking Orion took ?
