  1. My son left me his Tesla Model X to drive, so no gas for that one. We are close enough to most places to walk, but have to drive it to get grandson to and from school.
  2. Another day, another negative, but I still feel crappy. Grandson just took a test, and he was negative. They have everyone take a test before they get together for play dates. I guess it was good that we picked up 10 tests at the festival yesterday. They were giving them away. Hope we are all healthy for our flight back in 13 days.
  3. Well, I had been enjoying my time in California until last night. Felt great all day, and we logged over 21,000 steps. I spent the morning doing some home repairs for my son, while he is in Europe on business. Gas prices were jumping. This was the price when I went to Home Depot And all grades were up 10 cents later in the day. We walked over to a fire prevention festival, which was pretty small. They did have a few booths, and explanations on how they use goats for vegetation control, along with some goats for kids to see. So now, for my not feeling great part. I started with a low temperature and a cough. It is too late for post cruise symptoms, and I suspect I picked up a bug at grandparents day at the school last Tuesday. I think that, because granddaughter back in PA came down with the same symptoms last night. So far, the tests show this, but I will probably take another later today. Meanwhile, I am avoiding everyone else.
  4. When I first glanced at that speedometer, I thought maybe you were listening to Sammy Hagar. Obviously, that song was not made for the Canadian market with k/hr, but with the conversion it still works.
  5. So she tested negative on the ship, or did you not report it to medical?
  6. @Luckynana Maryann, so sorry to hear the sad news about baby Ginny. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
  7. What I thought also. We had a son and a daughter. After paying for both their college educations, we didn’t get a break in cash outflow when daughter got married. Then I thought I was home free. However, my son married a girl from China, and in their culture, the male’s family pays for the wedding. So for us, we got to pay for two weddings. At least we had the wedding planning thing down to a science by then.
  8. You really need to account for those frequent change orders when you work on that budget. Just get ready for a lot of “yes, dear” , and start writing more checks.
  9. We have done 12 of the proctored tests now, without problems. All done using iPhones on a mini tripod, which really helps. Just test your WiFi strength ahead of time, and change phone settings so it never goes to sleep. Just make sure to change the setting back after the test.
  10. We are both negative with no symptoms. We did join in the pub crawl with that group, and I read that several of them got it. Plus, we had one couple from that group sitting at our table for a few nights in the MDR. Don’t know which table the belonged at, because they were bouncing around to different ones. Anyhow, the last couple nights they moved to the next table over to join another couple. I thought it was odd that about an hour after dinner on the last night, we walked by their cabin, and one of the “raincoat people” was at their door with a test kit. I can’t believe their symptoms would appear that fast, or that they needed to get their last night of dining in before getting tested!
  11. Does the pass show the correct date and info in the app? If so, just take a screenshot of it and save in your photos. We have used that method for a couple of cruises, because sometimes the app would not load in the port.
  12. We went to the Farmer’s Market this morning. Quite a few booths set up. It wasn’t too busy when we went. Maybe because their prices are pretty high, just like their gas out here in California. What $20 gets you Maybe I need to go in to farming. Also bought cherries at $7 per pound and nice looking strawberries at $5 a pint. Hillside vegetation control was going on Yes, that is done with goats that they move around.
  13. It is sunny and 54° in the Bay Area of California this morning, our home for the next couple weeks. It was so foggy when we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge last night, you could hardly see 100 feet, but was very clear when we reached the north end. Plan to walk to Farmer’s market this morning to find something fresh.
  14. We ran into that 4 hour window with SW in the past. That’s why we would either do a day use hotel, or stay an extra day and fly early the next day. This trip was easy, because we had a 10:35 direct flight, and we had plenty of time to spare after walking off. And I didn’t even have to start a “can I make a 10:35 flight?” Thread. 🤔
  15. My daughter’s school had a large police presence this morning, after the events from yesterday. Meanwhile, we are waiting in Cleveland for our delayed flight. A few pics from the airport. They heavily market the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  16. If everyone’s family was like the extended family we have here, the world would be a much better place! Had a great grandparents day at the grandkid’s school today. Breakfast with granddaughter and lunch with grandson. Now we are packing again, this time for California. Looking forward to seeing our other grandson tomorrow night. Son has a two week business trip to France, Germany, and Amsterdam, so we will take care of getting grandson to and from school for his last couple of weeks. I am sure Susan and I will get some walking in.
  17. Speaking of……. I took the new John Sanford book, “The Investigator” as reading material while cruising last week. The main character is Letty Davenport (Lucas’s daughter). It was a good read, and I can see him developing more in a series with her character.
  18. Well, I am absolutely exhausted after all the storm cleanup. Five hours yesterday after we got home, plus ten hours today, but all the cleanup is done. Of course, that includes doing some cleanup work at a 90 YO neighbor’s house when I saw her out working. Anyone want a custom fastback Lincoln? One of the trees from the storm did the work on it I knew we should have planned more time between trips. We have breakfast with our granddaughter at the school tomorrow, then lunch with our grandson at the school. Then we come home and pack. Flight to California is Wednesday morning from Cleveland. Ready for summer of fun 2.0 as we bring our California grandson back to Pa.
