  1. Oh my, your daughter is stunning! You better wear your tux with this lady!
  2. One pair of long lightweight pants is too heavy?
  3. You need to ignore some people on these boards. I love Stanley Bears, too.
  4. I would call Princess and ask. I did a quick check and you are right. It’s possible there will be a change in your itinerary, but only Princess can verify that. Do you have a TA or CVP who could do this for you?
  5. I preordered mine for our granddaughters, which they love. I noticed people onboard were disappointed that they were sold out in the gift store.
  6. Thank you for your Rotterdam review. Very much looking forward to our TA on this gorgeous ship!
  7. You all look very nice. Thank you for sharing with us.
  8. I just have to ask, respectfully. What is this American obsession with shorts! Do American men not own long pants? Why are long pants not as comfortable as the shorter version? You still have a waistband and pockets and a zipper! Do American men not care if they look nice just occasionally? Do American women not want to see their man looking nice and dressed well? Is it because American women have become so used to the “backyard attire” that they forget how wonderful a well dressed man looks? I am not trying to be judgemental, just trying to understand this phenomenon. Thank you.
  9. From your lips to Princess’s ears lol.
  10. You are absolutely correct. Any Princess cruises in or around or embarking in the US, please don’t worry about what you wear at anytime or any venue. Your fellow passengers won’t even care because they will be dressed just like you. Win win!
  11. @Princessfan20Hearsay is when someone says that someone else told them something. Fact is when someone actually witnesses an action. I have been on many, many European cruises and the fact is gentlemen wear dressier attire. I don’t need to share photos as proof because honestly, believe it or don’t believe it, I really don’t care.
  12. Congratulations! Enjoy your cruise on Sky Princess!
  13. Yes, there are definitely some men who choose to dress more casually, even in Europe. However, these gentlemen are more likely to be Americans, as Europeans seldom dress down. It’s just the difference in culture. The more Europeans onboard the dressier the attire. If your cruise takes you to Europe or the Med, you might want to pack a tie at the very least, just in case.
  14. We have sailed only on itineraries in Europe and the Med for years and trust me it’s rare to see gentleman not dressed appropriately for dinner every night.
  15. If you’re sailing on an itinerary, such as the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, or any itinerary embarking in the US, the majority of guests will be Americans and the dress code is much more relaxed, to the point of being non existent in many cases. However, European and Med cruises are completely different. Guests dress for dinner, even on non formal nights. Never, ever, shorts and ball caps. This is especially true on sailings out of Southampton. So it depends on which cruise you choose.
  16. Interesting, indeed. My DH and I were just saying the exact opposite! I think perspective is the correct word. We find Princess cruises to be a tad boring, although the staff and crew are lovely. To each their own.
  17. I’ve found that all you have to do is request cold water, light dry, hang to dry, whatever your preference is, they will accommodate you. You can stuff a lot of clothes in those laundry bags! We send out once per week (at about $20 per bag for most passengers). We are Elite+ on Celebrity, so laundry and dry cleaning are complimentary. Big perk!
  18. That is certainly an advantage for Princess cruisers. However, not many guests on Celebrity ships are interested in doing their own laundry. I refuse to do laundry on vacation and have no problem letting ship personnel take care of it. Just my own preference.
  19. Service on Celebrity is stellar, so please don’t worry. Edge Class ships are wonderful. We’re sailing on Celebrity Ascent in 2024, with one of the brothers at the helm. Captain Kate is still Master of Celebrity Beyond and she makes every cruise so special. Wishing you safe and happy sailings in the future.
  20. Let me say, as a longtime Celebrity cruiser, guests on Celebrity really don’t need to be told what to wear, they know what’s appropriate. The issue on Princess with shorts and ball caps is a total non issue on Celebrity, it just never happens. Dress codes aside, both Celebrity and Princess offer a good product which appeals to most people. We prefer the Celebrity experience, but lots of people prefer Princess. Lots of choices out there to choose from and we are so lucky to have the luxury of being able to enjoy cruise vacations. I’m sure the OP will enjoy whichever cruise they choose.
  21. If you enjoy the casino on Celebrity then you may not love the casinos on Princess. Smoking is allowed and it’s overpowering! Just walking through the casino is nauseating. Celebrity for a big win! Food on Celebrity is better, now that Princess has cut back on quality. Celebrity wins. Mini suites on Princess are quite nice with a large bathroom tub/shower combo. I prefer the large glass showers on Celebrity. Standard Princess cabins, interior, ocean view and balconies, are very basic. Bathrooms are tiny with shower curtains. Celebrity wins. Entertainment on Celebrity is very good. Entertainment on Princess is okay. Celebrity has the Solarium, free to all adults with covered pool and Aqua Spa Cafe for light meals or snacks. Princess does not have anything like this without a fee for use. Celebrity wins. Service is equal, both very good. Celebrity has a more upscale feel. Princess is more traditional. Princess does have some itineraries that are preferable. Princess does Alaska better in terms of ports. We love Southampton for British Isles cruises on Princess. Princess is usually quite a bit less expensive than Celebrity. Edge class is very expensive, compared to Princess. Will you enjoy Princess? Probably, you will. As much as Celebrity? Only you know what is important to your family. Wishing you happy sailings on whichever ship you choose.
  22. Yes, two months ago our fare dropped by $1600.00 with the Canadian at par promo. Cancelled our original booking and picked up Princess Plus. Booked the cabin next door. Our original deposit was very high, but refunded to our credit card within a few days. New deposit was $270.00 total ($100.00 US per person). We had to rebook our excursions. We have a very good CVP who did this all for us in just a few minutes and no waiting on hold to speak to a booking rep.
  23. We’ve sailed from Civitavecchia a few times on different lines and we usually boarded just after 11:00 am. However, things could change on your particular sailing. We spend two nights in a Civitavecchia hotel prior to embarking and have never used a Princess transfer from Rome, so can’t help with that.
