  1. Ask and ye shall receive. So I walked back around and snapped a few. I had the green jello topped with strawberries and it was good and some of the apple crumble, and some watermelon and cantaloupe and 2 of the potato wedges. Another meal no protein but my last meal so I ate what I wanted. I said to the guy carving I'm taking pictures so he is posing for me pretending to carve. Its lamb. The 3rd one is the apple crumble and vanilla sauce. They just set out a new bowl so you can see its apples baked inside but it was good. Watermelon been good.
  2. Yes thanks and next up harmony b2b2b and hopefully this time we get to meet up again and work doesnt call you away. You do work too hard obviously hahahaha. Teasing. Sometimes I know context is hard to tell. Looking forward to seeing you and your beautiful wife and then helen and marty of course the following week.
  3. Last earnings ccl also dropped and sold off. I'm sure traders are wrong though lol.
  4. Even one of the analysts reviewing ccl earnings said carnival cites fuel as a headwind possibly. I've traded oil stocks many many years and before covid like clockwork oil and oil stocks go up by December, sell in January rinse and repeat every winter year after year, like clockwork. While covid could disrupt this pattern, imo doubtful. I know you also know oil, but there is a pattern. If earnings were all that great stock would have not dropped further. No one is buying what carnival is saying are the greatest ever earnings. Only one side of the equation. People want to know when carnival will be profitable. Have a pe again. Not a minus sign next to earnings. Let's watch nclh and rcl when they report and see how they react for comparison. And yes I remember fuel surcharges. It's not like I just started cruising with carnival. $150 a barrel oil wasnt a nice surprise.
  5. Are some topics tabu? Just read someone on my roll call posted they were moved from their cabin without notice and found out bedbugs were discovered. Time for new mattresses. Deck 14 not near me. Someone beside me I'm thinking crew, entertainment but I cant remember who says hes not surprised his cabin has had a ongoing mold issue.
  6. Mike fyi about my in room safe. I did get them to change the battery and yes it opens but the screen read out is broke and I'm guessing they dont have parts. They said type in the number very carefully. If I press too hard sometimes it doubles, like 2 become 2 2. You cant see what you type in with the broken screen. Tonight in WJ they have red and white checked napkins for the bakery bread looking festive and some kind of beef and veggies on a stick I took pics of.
  7. It would be so easy to slip and fall. The only soft serve ice cream is just past the kiddies pool. They were splashing water out of the pool and the boards were wet and the tread on my shoes not so good for water on wet painted boards. I can understand why its located by the kiddies but it was also a wet place to walk to get soft serve. Last chance I told myself.
  8. We werent supposed to have had to leave the ship last sunday. Customs came in and checked our passports, cards were handed out in the dining room .... but We had 2 stowaways the crew had to search for and they made us get off after all so they could search the ship. I'll bet we stood there waiting a hour while they looked for them. .. only once so far I got to stay on. Last sunday almost.
  9. Yes, all free except 3 items for breakfast.
  10. Carnival has a interesting process. Top 2 tiers, for them platinum and diamond, check in opens 2 days earlier for selecting a boarding time.
  11. Not me but I was waiting and overheard so I wouldnt say where. Someone had booked excursions in a port and she twisted her ankle and it was swollen but she didnt feel it was broken, so her husband sallied forth to cancel. I'm not sure of the outcome if he managed to get a full refund or not. They offered 50% finally and he wanted a full refund. They said not without a medical excuse. Well we all know the doctor is $175 to visit onboard and that's if he doesnt insist on x rays to cover themselves. Dont know what they spent but it could probably cost more to see the doctor than the 50% extra he wanted. I know I know people lie all the time. .. just saying. And having to get a doctor to decide if it was swollen enough to not make her walk on it could cost $$$.
  12. As above I had one last dec on allure where I couldnt book my same cabin. I went from a central park balcony to the end of boardwalk. I didnt mention WHY I moved my own stuff and the next steward said well he would just clean my cabin early for me to move down early. I've had a few like this .. but this one my current steward was getting off the ship, end of his contract. Expecting him to stick around to move my stuff ... he said he wouldnt be there, so I just packed up and walked it down the hall deck 10. Since the other new steward said he would have cabin ready I just said fine. I am able bodied. Sometimes things tell you ALWAYS happen dont.
  13. Everytime I've checked in online they advise me to download the app. ..and I have it. I dont assume this means app only to check in. I'm with ourusualbeach beach. It's a nothing.
  14. Last sunday we meet in silk dining room. They gave us our new cards and customs agent came onboard and checked passports so technically could have just gone back to our cabin except we had 2 stowaways. So we paraded off the ship and stood in a line outside the door while the ship was searched. I've never been told or know of anyone who didnt or wasnt allowed to return to their cabins. The closed door isnt locked, just open it. Everyone I know went to their cabin and waited for the b2b lunch which last sunday was 1145 deck 3 dining room. Nice lunch and food. Lol much better food than my D+ cheers with a officer imo. Scallops cooked in garlic butter, shorts ribs were very good and good cheesecake for b2b lunch. I think the other 2 apps were Caesars salad or risotto. I didnt look at the other entrees. I love the short ribs. No steak offered. One vegan option. Might be a good question about returning to your cabin. I've never asked and just returned to my cabin upon reboarding. Rare the customs agent comes onboard and you dont need to exit and come back on. Last time on allure I changed cabins. One was booked later on. My new steward cleaned my cabin early and I took my stuff down to the new cabin before I went down to meet in the silk dining room.
  15. This ex cop was so proud of shopping in ports and getting freebies and not a newbie. Said he was diamond. I avoid lines and people. I'm not one to go to diamonds international to get my free charm, or stand in a line even on the ship for drawings or some little freebie, but you've meet me. Jewelry not my thing tbh. Or crowds, or lines. Covid made me more so. Different strokes for different folks. But he obviously was going to badger our waiter until he got more free lobster. Being loud and repetitive works. I'm a mouse in person.
  16. Makes sense to me. Had the banks hedged on interest rates and not piled into long term treasuries and long term low rate mortgages they wouldn't have been in such trouble. Besides the ones that went bankrupt I've heard about 20 more smaller regional banks were in trouble. Powell has been under pressure to change his goal from 2% to 3% and stop raising to save the banks. Anyone who says no sense hedging is a gambler. I'm more conservative. I inherited a bit of money when my last parent passed in January and right now I'm flipping 6 month CDs. So I'm betting on higher not lower rates 6 months from now. I watch the rates like a hawk. Enough in those 6 treasuries to make a difference. Banks even used the excuse when they went under they were stupid enough to believe the inflation was transitory baloney. If I knew govt spending was continuing and it's why inflation was rising, doesnt matter if the cause was good or bad, you knew, I knew, banks should be as smart as what I knew just from the numbers. Though of course yes i knew they paid themselves huge bonuses before they went under. Politics dont matter just the numbers, facts. Hedging might mean less profit but it also protects on the downside losses. Like if you trade stocks, some use a trailing stop to protect profits, though it could catch and potential future profits also be lost. It's always a gamble. I tend to be conservative and protect capital. Hence treasuries not random stocks which have higher risk with the trust money. Ccl not hedging could mean higher profits ..or higher losses. Credit card companies are seeing ever higher amounts of spending .. and defaults. Could be a next domino. Defaults.
  17. It depends what you drink. The majority of my vouchers went to double orders of fresh squeezed OJ this week. I had no mixed drinks this week. I bought someone a birthday drink and she wanted cranberry juice, 3.50. I've occasionally gotten specialty coffee downstairs. Mostly cokes. I asked my steward what he wanted with extra vouchers and he asked for diet coke.
  18. Mixed feelings on leaving tomorrow as usual. First time I've ever complained about my mattress being worn out. The guy last week said his had a dip where his butt was. Mine feels compressed and my pillows lumpy and the gauzy curtain by the balcony door looks old and worn. Needs replacing. No biggie just observations. Harmony which is newer up next. Then a break on carnival dream to new ports. Maybe it will make me appreciate royal even more. But I do want to see costa rica and aruba etc. As far as my tablemates he was bragging the first night I was there he was getting our table onion rings special. I didnt see them and forgot to ask how they were. The 6th person I hear came 1 night and never came back.
  19. The soft serve in wipe out cafe says closed go to pool location where a staff served it.
  20. It was a slam dunk that saudi Arabia wouldnt let oil stay below $80 so they cut their own output. They needed to prove they are in the drivers seat. Typically oil rises in winter which is coming. There is also the oil futures market where professionals are betting where they expect oil to be in nov dec etc. Nov futures now riding around $90. Every day CNBC shows next 2 months of oil futures. https://www.cnbc.com/quotes/@CL.1 .. though oddly oil stocks arent jumping. Out of favor, cheapest values out there. Even though the fed skipped this last rate hike mostly due to pressure imo because banks are under hedged for rate hikes, doesnt mean inflation under control, though yes plenty of signs of improvement, still some indicators are up not down and now the worry about wageflation with all the unions pushing. We got into this spiral last time where wages started to drive inflation. I've also noticed even though no rate hike in sept, mortgage rates are going higher. When oil dropped a while back imo it would have been smart to hedge a bit imo. It's too bad they have so much debt they are so cash strapped, it would have been a easy bet. If I knew so did carnival. I'm really hoping they get where they are turning a profit. I'd settle for a few cents right now, steady profit. Analysts are concerned about the lack of new builds after jubilee and voicing their concern. New builds command higher prices. Nothing after this dec projected. Just bringing ships not selling well in from other markets. Rcl icon will be built for kids and families. More cabins for 3 and 4 so they can get 10k on that ship of crew and pax. Not for everyone but clearly some want a ship like Disneyland. Utopia coming in brand new to do 3/4 days to coco cay which is already selling it's new adult area. Very little fuel needed to go back and forth to the Bahamas from florida. Changed up celebrity to do shorter runs saving on fuel. I'm sure I'm missing a lot of buzz but all I saw was john heald announcement carnival will get rid of libraries to put revenue areas there, more bars. I'll be off this b2b cruise sunday and have a better handle on the market, but the news doesnt seem good. Big 3 cant give in completely to uaw or the big 3 go bankrupt within 4 years. Ford is losing 60k per ev its sells. Thank goodness carnival isnt in their shoes, but a good outcome doesnt look possible right now. Let's see a year from now, and hope carnival and the economy are both in a better place.
  21. The waiter did bring over the floor supervisor and got him involved. The man was still saying to the girls, just watch I'll get you more lobster and pushing every time the waiter walked by. So he tells the floor manager same thing, the girls lobster was stale, they need replacements. Stale? Yes. Repeated to the floor mgr who probably at that point said go ahead and give them another. So it worked.
  22. You know thinking about it lobster situation is probably a good example. The ex cop pushed, asking to order lobster for the guy who hasnt been back to our table. And got his and pushed hard enough, I'm sure he managed to get 6 free and 2 free for the other woman. The same way he pushed me to change chairs. .. the waiter gave in and got him as many lobsters as he wanted, no cost. So being a ex cop and knowing how to order people around does reap benefits at times. The waiter didnt want to fight with him.
  23. Actually I just post on my allure thread seems if you push hard enough you can get as many lobsters as you want. I had 1, a man had at least 6 and got 2 other girls a extra one, no charge.
